I actually don’t think the 2ZZ will really be a thing in 10 years — there just aren’t that many of them around 100% enthusiasts choice. I went with a 2ZZ because the 4A-GE is an early ’80s design, and the 3S-GE is basically the same story: iteratively modernised over the years, but the underlying block and rotating assembly are still ’80s tech. What I do think could become a popular option is the hybrid Camry 4-cyl. If you check out Frankenstein Motorsports on YouTube, he’s shown that the 2AR-FXE (2.4L) comes with stupidly high factory compression and can make around 240 hp just by running an inlet cam in the exhaust position and using a custom cam timing setup. Bonus is it still shares the same bellhousing pattern as a 3S-GE, which makes it really appealing, and absolutely mass produced. Quote
