benhachi Posted October 19, 2015 Report Posted October 19, 2015 Hey guys, basically have the engine and gearbox ready to go just searching for a diff.. I was looking at a T series but for $1750 with disc brakes I think ill shop around first.. I have a ke30 diff here in good condition but I'm unsure it will be strong enough for the Gze. Any opinions? I also want to get whichever diff I go with shortened for my deep offset wheels. Cheers guys kinda hit a wall on this one Quote
coln72 Posted October 20, 2015 Report Posted October 20, 2015 What are you going to use it for and how will it be driven.......... A mate killed a 9" diff in his Falcon while a relative made an Opel 4 speed and HR diff outlast 3 worked 202's (the last one was a serious motor) in his FX. Quote
B.L.Z.BUB Posted October 20, 2015 Report Posted October 20, 2015 If you're gonna modify one then the good old trusty Hilux would be a good option. Or R31. Hilux would be pretty heavy for the car though maybe. TA22 T series maybe. Depends if disc brakes is a must I suppose. Quote
benhachi Posted October 20, 2015 Author Report Posted October 20, 2015 It's just gonna be used as a weekend driver, want to keep 4x 114.3 for wheels and disk or drum doesn't matter, Has ae86 discs on the front. I never do burnouts or launches, just open the accelerator on straight roads really. Quote
B.L.Z.BUB Posted October 20, 2015 Report Posted October 20, 2015 T series should be sweet then. Quote
benhachi Posted November 2, 2015 Author Report Posted November 2, 2015 I found a guy that does race car engineering just down the road from me. Asked him about IRS and he said he's done it before to a ke25 rally car and the price wasn't that much more expensive than the T series so go figure lol. Searching for a S13 whole rear setup Quote
B.L.Z.BUB Posted November 2, 2015 Report Posted November 2, 2015 And you can get that engineered? Quote
oh what a nissan feeling! Posted November 2, 2015 Report Posted November 2, 2015 honestly i think the final bill for irs will be a whole lot more than your thinking. make sure you get a written price before you go too far. i think the old mans shop cost around the $550 mark to shorten an r31 housing to suit ke25, shortened axle included. diff supplied by customer, mounts not included from memory, prob another $100. thats a pretty bulletproof option. benhachi Posted November 3, 2015 Author Report Posted November 3, 2015 He said the total bill with everything would be around the $5000. Aussie diff shop quoted me $3000+ to get a diff shortened to the length I want, axles shortened and re splined and leaf brackets put on. It is alot of money there but I guess I can see the value in it as it's a car I want to hold onto - already had it for almost 5 years. Found a 180sx rolling shell that I can use for $600 so there's a start Quote
