I'm hoping someone with experience in changing rear KE20 wheels to KE30 wheels, can help verify some things for me.

I'm following the guide above and I want to clarify - if have flared guards, do I have to worry about shortening the axles?

The steps seem pretty straight forward but I would have to pay an engineering place to do the redrilling.

I'm also concerned with talk of jap and aussie diffs being different, but this guide suggests that I won't have to change the diff.

 

Any advice appreciated.

just to clarify your question, are you just going to use ke30 axles and brakes in your diff, or are you looking at the 2nd method?

I was planning on using KE30 axles and brakes with the existing ke20 diff (if i can find any). I'm still trying to figure out how it all works.

they do just bolt in, use a grinder and cut 5mm of the spline on both axles. if you are using flares the extra length in the conversion wont be an issue. for the front ke30 brakes and hubs work, just need to use the right bearings to suit.

Thatl's awesome, thanks for confirming. So I've been looking at diagrams of brake and axle assemblies, cause that's how rookie I am; basically you're just saying, use KE30 bearings to suit the new axles and brakes, and not the original KE20 ones?

Do I have to worry if I've got the aussie or japanese style diff? The KE30 axles will still bolt in?

Took me 2 yrs to find a set off ke30 jap axles

Holy crap, 2year! .. So the first thing I need to do is go check the way the diff comes apart, to find out what diff it is? Something to do with the back plate?

Jap diff comes out the front

Borgwaner diff come out the back
