nerfbat Posted May 2, 2016 Report Posted May 2, 2016 (edited) PLEASE NOTE: Some of the pics and info may be out of whack, working from my picture collection's dates. Hadn't owned a bike since i Sold the XL1200C over Xmas, and had the 'itch the moment she left my shed... Finally, had enough one day, asked the mrs for permission, and within a day, had a plan: after seeing this for sale: Rebuilt 110 engine, tuned to suit the air cleaner and exhaust(80 main jet) custom airbrushed paint custom rear shocks Custom exhaust Custom LED tail lights and indicators Plan is to keep the std engine in her, rather than going to my usual 140cc+Lifan or similar, want reliability, but go wild with the rest, Apes, Suicide Shifter, Small SaddleBag somewhere, Seat Shave and custom re-cover Sell the Forester, Fly to Emerald, and ride a Postie bike home, with a few detours, over the weekend(nearly 1000 kms at an avg speed of 80kph). So I did... Took the Friday off and, Organized to meet the Subie buyer at Brissie airport, took him for a lap, he loved it, handed over the cash and drove home. I got dropped off at the airport and had to wait 4 hrs for my flight to Emerald When the plane finally took off, I was immediately assaulted by the lady snoring near by, so I numbed the pain with a few Jimmy's The decent into Emerald was gorgeous More to come Edited May 26, 2016 by nerfbat Quote

nerfbat Posted May 2, 2016 Author Report Posted May 2, 2016 (edited) Pulled up at Wallaroo Station. This place was eerie... Lots of trails leading into the scrub. Little humpies all over the place. A hollowed out log bottles full of notes. Stories of white fellas getting speared to death. And how they got their 'justice'. Could feel something. Edit: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hornet_Bank_massacre The background story This honestly felt like and Aussie Blair Witch Project.. I GTFO of there, ASAP Old Injune mine Made it to Roma. nerfbat Posted May 2, 2016 Author Report Posted May 2, 2016 Now, I had a vision of how she was going to look, Ape hangers, suicide shifter, whitewalls. So, was time to look for bars. Wasnt happy with any of the local or 'ebay' stuff, so we decided to make some based on this pic These cost about 300AUD landed, so for about 40 bucks worth the steel(left overs from my mate's making roll cages), and we got into it Test fit prior to full weld and Gussetts fitted Very happy with how they turned out. Off to the powder Coaters tomorrow Then extend the cable and wiring. Quote
nerfbat Posted May 2, 2016 Author Report Posted May 2, 2016 You sir are a madman! HAHA <3 Yes, I do believe I am, mate... Quote
B.L.Z.BUB Posted May 2, 2016 Report Posted May 2, 2016 Wouldn't have been fun riding those roads with all the pipeline work traffic. Was bad enough in a Land Cruiser. Not much to see either. Quote

altezzaclub Posted May 4, 2016 Report Posted May 4, 2016 Great trip! Pity you couldn't have pillioned out with a mate and both ridden back together! Quote
nerfbat Posted May 5, 2016 Author Report Posted May 5, 2016 haha yeah mate..! Bars fitted last night. ran out of light to take any decent pics, so did this sneaky shot at work this morning Went down to Platzy at Independent Motorcycle Wreckers and rumbled through his cables and brake lever/adjusters to find something that worked. Found that XR 350 cables are the perfect length and bolt straight up. SCORE!! Now, I had extended the wiring myself, paying extra caution to make sure they were all matched correctly, doing one wire at a time, BUT When I tried the indicators, turning right, the right rear would work, no front And when I tried the left, Both rears would work(like hazard lights in a car would) and the front worked.. Was worried i had stuffed something or crossed something up with my wiring.... Thought I'd test the Indicator's resistors first, as I was sure I did the wiring correctly.. And sure enough, 1 wasnt working at all....... Re-soldered the wire coming out of it, and BAM! all sorted..thank the Gods.. So, front brake works like a charm, Wiring all works now. Just need to mount the mirrors somehow... Will take some better pics of the bars themselves when i can Quote
nerfbat Posted May 6, 2016 Author Report Posted May 6, 2016 Some better pics of the bars and bike this pic showing arm/hand position. Pretty happy with it Quote
nerfbat Posted May 12, 2016 Author Report Posted May 12, 2016 (edited) Ordered some bar end mirrors, from Third Gear, like these: Express Posted as the old ones don't fit these custom bars, so am riding with none.... Also ordered a Springer Seat Kit like this one: Regular mail, so I expect it end of next week, at the earliest.... Edited May 12, 2016 by nerfbat Quote
