Thought this would be a good topic to start. In your opinion what's the quickest rolla and why? Now I know the 4age is up there with the best, but what model would you put it in to gain optimum performance?? :)

I'm going to assume that by your badly written question you actually mean: "Which is the quickest production Corolla?"

 

The answer would surely have to be the current model Corolla T Sport available in Europe. It now comes standard with a supercharged 2ZZ-GE so as to comply with emissions regulations (the regular 2ZZ-GE doesn't cut it). The supercharger gives it 215hp (160kW) and 215Nm, in a car that only weighs 1255kg. It accelerates from 0-62mph (about 100km/h) in 7.1seconds, versus 8.5seconds for the Australian-spec Sportivo, and has a top speed of 235km/h. Even the AE111 Corolla Levin blacktop 20v would have trouble keeping up with that I would think!

Only 250 being built though. Of course, you could always just get a Blitz or Greddy supercharger kid for the Celica and adapt it to a Corolla Sportivo. The Blitz one makes 270hp (190kW) and 261Nm. The Greddy kit is meant to add 60% more power to the standard Celica motor, so that's about 304hp by my estimates. HELL YES!!!

The torque-steer should be just about sorted in a car that newly designed...

 

Not like mum's old 2.4L Pintara... would spin the wheels in 3rd, and it re-defined the term "torque steer"!!

And st.nick, try driving a current model Corolla and get back to me. I drive an Ascent Seca with Sportivo springs (not proper Sportivo, just Sportivo accessories range) and it doesn't torque steer, but you can't use much power out of corners due to bodyroll and wheelspin. 215hp in a FWD Corolla would be just plain scary. They should use the 4WD drivetrain available in Japan.

I own an '03 Toyota Corolla Sportivo.

I agree with ancullen about the power out of the corners and wheelspin.

It's definately pretty quick. You can really feel the VVTL-i do it's job at around 6000 rpm.
