altezzaclub Posted September 29, 2024 Report Posted September 29, 2024 They often do stick on. Put the steering wheel back on and hit it with both hands up towards you, leave the loose nut on to stop it flying off and hitting you. If you've done that and its stuck, its time for a bearing puller. Quote
walie90 Posted September 30, 2024 Author Report Posted September 30, 2024 yeah i tired that and it.didn't work , only want to change the full beam switch , also tried a cheap puller and the puller actually failed , Quote
Banjo Posted September 30, 2024 Report Posted September 30, 2024 (edited) Hi James, I've had issues getting them off previously, but the technique Altezzaclub has suggested, & You have tried, always works for me. I would suggest removing the nut, & squirting some WD40 or similar, down the splines on the shaft. Leave overnight, or even give them a second squirt. It will come. They are reasonably fine splines, & slightly tapered, resulting in them jamming, when the nut is tightened up. A tapered spline, sometimes needs a sudden jolt to free it. If still no go, get a bit of square timber, & place it behind the plastic boss of the steering wheel, & a few taps with a mallet, from the underside/ backside, will get it off. walie90 Posted September 30, 2024 Author Report Posted September 30, 2024 I'll try the wd40/wooden block and see what happens , I took a afew off before on other cars but this 1 is so stuck , I thought I might have missed a hidden nut or something Quote
