irokin Posted July 29, 2006 Report Posted July 29, 2006 "Read the f#$king FAQ" http://www.rollaclub.com/faq/index.php?title=Main_Page You'll usually get that response when youve asked a question thats been asked a million times before. If you have a quick look around here you'll find a few guys with superchargers and there is a guy floating around who has put nitrous on his (and I think hes about to supercharge it as well). Who cares if it holds up or not....theyre a dime a dozen. If it blows up just replace it... Quote
ancullen Posted July 29, 2006 Report Posted July 29, 2006 There actually isn't that much in the FAQ to really say how strong the 4K is. It does say that you shouldn't go above about 8psi of boost (which would be heaps for your engine anyway, imnost). It does say they're fairly well put together engines (which would indicate that it could take a fair bit of grunt), but there's no definitive comment to say: these engines can only create xhp before they explode. I think that Matt (imnost) asked a fair question, and is simply inviting anyone who has built a similar engine to respond appropriately. The FAQ does have heaps of info, but doesn't answer everything. Quote
ancullen Posted July 29, 2006 Report Posted July 29, 2006 And what Irokin has said is also true - try and find out who else on RollaClub has built a 4K-ZC/4K-ZE and read their posts and possibly PM them for more info. Quote
irokin Posted July 29, 2006 Report Posted July 29, 2006 But strong compared to what? Compared to a 2JZ its about as strong as a twig. Personally I think you'll be too busy mincing gearboxes to even bother about the engine. How "fully worked" is it? Camshaft and oversized pistons? or are we talking the FULLY worked with billet rods & crankshaft, forged pistons etc etc etc. I think at the very least you're going to need head studs. Quote
Killswitch Posted July 31, 2006 Report Posted July 31, 2006 Also, read the turbo 4K-C thread in engine conversions. Shitload of good info in there! Quote
Taz_Rx Posted July 31, 2006 Report Posted July 31, 2006 my 4kc regularly sees 10-12psi with a turbo, seen it bounce off 15psi befor aswell and its still alive!! :) has completely standard bottom end, and head, just has a different cam now. :jamie: Quote
