HEKTIC Posted September 6, 2006 Author Report Posted September 6, 2006 (edited) thanks for that. so where would i go to get hold of all this stuff? (i live in launceston tasmainia so i have burstons, pabs, riceobarn, supernasty and a few other smaller places to choose from) What i really want to no is can i go in with a list of stuff that i need and they will get it off the shelf or am i going to go wrecker crawling? (apart from the throttle body i know i need that off a motor from a wrecker or a private seller) Edited September 6, 2006 by HEKTIC
Robert Posted September 6, 2006 Report Posted September 6, 2006 no offence, but if you don't even know what a map sensor is, this project is probably too complicated for you. It would be cheaper, easier and probably better to buy a 4K-E manifold or even modify the 4K-E manifold (Custom Plenum, etc.) Thats my opinion, Rob.
Redwarf Posted September 6, 2006 Report Posted September 6, 2006 (edited) He informed me the that it is also a "piece of piss" to weld cast alloy despite Redwarf's comments. I feel I have been misquoted. Could you please provide information as to where I made this statement? Edited September 6, 2006 by Redwarf
HEKTIC Posted September 7, 2006 Author Report Posted September 7, 2006 I feel I have been misquoted. I retract my previous statement and apologise as when I/we (Casey) asked our teacher he told us that cast alloy was a "piece of piss" to weld and casey said (this is parafrased) "well redwarf is full of it then" later he was at my house and was looking over the post as i wrote it, i took what he said to be true and now when i looked over the thread in which i thought Casey was talking about in which he claimed you said that it was hard to weld. If u would like to discuss this further (redwarf) than please do so in pm's as id like to keep this on topic. I spoke to my teacher today and he told me that if i paid for the materials he would help me do this on the condision that my behaviour in his classes continued the way that it is.
HEKTIC Posted September 7, 2006 Author Report Posted September 7, 2006 just also found this: http://toymods.net/forums/showthread.php?p=170106 how hard is it to put a 7ke manifold on a 4k? How hard is a 7ke manifold hard to find? what did they originally come out of?
irokin Posted September 7, 2006 Report Posted September 7, 2006 Alumnium in general (let alone cast) is more difficult to weld than say...steel. So yes, his statement is correct, it is hard to weld, when compared with an easy to weld material. I think you'd like us to keep on topic so we can keep feeding you answers. Free ride stops here...
HEKTIC Posted September 7, 2006 Author Report Posted September 7, 2006 well I'm not the one thats going to make it and my teacher said its easy for him to weld cast alloy so it really doesnt bother me. However does anybody know what modifications if any have to be done to get a 7ke manifold to fit on a 4k? and what should i expect to pay for a 7ke manifold? (just the manifold no injectors etc)
