andrew Posted June 9, 2004 Report Posted June 9, 2004 any of you fella's know of a shop that does cam grinding cheap enough for the average joe? after hearing grims car on sunday, the yella terra just all of a sudden needs a cam grind. the other car too! anyone? Quote
Super Jamie Posted June 9, 2004 Report Posted June 9, 2004 tighe? their 80 buck grind fee is pretty good, other places usually quote $95-$115. my cam was done by camshaft engineering in coorparoo, they're in the yellow pages Quote
Redwarf Posted June 9, 2004 Report Posted June 9, 2004 That's a good price. Wade in Melbourne charged me $80 11 years ago to do my 169x grind. Now THERE was a camshaft.. ;) Quote
Felix Posted June 9, 2004 Report Posted June 9, 2004 wade 169? - 41/70 75/36 291 degs adv duration Quote

andrew Posted June 10, 2004 Author Report Posted June 10, 2004 i'd rather just cam the 2s for now but i have to find a way around the rockers hmmmmmm.... what to do, i can't really pull it apart and make something as it's my daily driver. atleast i can still put a big mother f@$k of a cam in the 22re! ;) Quote
andrew Posted June 10, 2004 Author Report Posted June 10, 2004 well mine should be pretty toey full engine balance, block decked, honed, and crack tested, head shaved, port 'n' polish, bigger valves(20r) 2700-6700 range cam grind, port matched intake man' and extractors, tuned length extractors, 4agze injectors (365cc), bosh motorsport efi pump, 10mm fuel lines, bored throttle body, removed afm, install map sensor, aftermarket injection (don't know what yet), acl bearings and cromoly rings, arp studs, cold air intake from pod, cpc brass button 5 puck clutch and beefed up presure plate i think thats it......... yeah thats it......for now, muwahahahahaha! decided not to go turbo. i think it should go pretty hard once it's back together ;) Quote
Teddy Posted June 10, 2004 Report Posted June 10, 2004 Rona Vrs Rolla lol thats a nice motor !! Quote
andrew Posted June 10, 2004 Author Report Posted June 10, 2004 R.E.S.P.E.C.T Thats quite a shopping list... Screw turbo... People who drive tough N/A's have more fun! i am inclined to agree with you. turbo is just a expensive wank factor thing.;) i'd rather n/a anyday teddy: yeah i hope for some exelent results. Quote
Teddy Posted June 10, 2004 Report Posted June 10, 2004 lol i still think if i had the option, i would supercharge, for the main reason that the power bank is more 'even' compaired to a turbo motor... if that makes sence! but I'm more than happy with my Stock Na atm !! ;) :insane: :D Quote
andrew Posted June 10, 2004 Author Report Posted June 10, 2004 I want to build up my tough 4A-GE when I bounce back from debt... Slowly, bullet proof N/A and go stick it up the turbo guys Seriously out at carnell raceway, the turbos ate me on the straight, on the corners they were baby'ing the loud pedal cause they were oversteering so badly A nicely sorted n/a would stick a big one up those lame turbo hairdrier bastards ;) i agree. toyota's are known for builing bulletproof engines. and the fact that they take a floggin and keep asking for more, they are great for serious power. 22re's actually came factory with forged cranks! :insane: and if you build a n/a engine correctly, i believe they are better than turboed enignes anyway. it's all in how you drive Quote
andrew Posted June 10, 2004 Author Report Posted June 10, 2004 i still think if i had the option, i would supercharge, for the main reason that the power bank is more 'even' compaired to a turbo motor... if that makes sence! yes i think supercharging is much better. no lag, power all the time....... yes the future might turn my motor into a 22rze!
