OniBerserker Posted September 20, 2006 Report Posted September 20, 2006 yeah hey i got my dodgy 4 speed out(of the ke70) and the k50 out(of the ke55) now the k50 is a bit longer than the 4 speed but the 5 speed tailshaft is a bit shorter than the 4 speed tailshaft so it should be right but the original tailshaft on the ke70 was a two piece (kinda like a big nunchucka...it was fun) and the 5 speed one is one piece Now my question is is the one piece tailshaft going to encounter any problems cause of the different suspension? ke 55 has leaf springs ke 70 has coil springs any ideas? Will extractors that fit 4K engines fit 5K engines? stupid question I'm pretty sure that i read it somewhere on the forum but i can't remember cause if so i wanna blow up my 4 k and swap the cam to a 5 k and repeat the process it should be fun Quote
OniBerserker Posted September 20, 2006 Author Report Posted September 20, 2006 (edited) sweet, what about the valve springs ? can you swap out heavy duty ones from a 4k to a 5k? Edited September 20, 2006 by OniBerserker Quote
Robert Posted September 20, 2006 Report Posted September 20, 2006 You need a KE70 5 speed sedan tailshaft (two-piece). If you use a KE55 gearbox you will have a furthe forward shifter position and may have to cut a new shifter hole. Quote
Raven Posted September 20, 2006 Report Posted September 20, 2006 Actually, the KE55 gearbox has a different shifter location to the KE70 gearbox anyway. So if you want to keep your original shifter position, I would recommend you get KE70 5 speed, otherwise you're going to definately have to cut a new hole for your shifter. Quote
OniBerserker Posted September 22, 2006 Author Report Posted September 22, 2006 (edited) hmm, what gearboxes came in 5 speed ke70's wasn't it the k50? the gearbox outa the ke55 wasnt the factory box, it was an auto swapped to a 5 speed il get pics Edited September 22, 2006 by OniBerserker Quote
Raven Posted September 22, 2006 Report Posted September 22, 2006 Yes , its still a K50, but there were two different ones. The KE55 one had a shorter shifter position to the KE70 one which had a longer shifter position and sat further back. So my guess is you have a KE55 one which WILL require you to cut a hole in the floor. Quote

Rolla__Boy Posted September 26, 2006 Report Posted September 26, 2006 All you need is a KE70 extension housing for that 5 speed, then it will bolt straight in Quote
