Hey guys, I'm asking a question on behalf of my sister / brother-in-law so I'll introduce myself another time, he drives a Suzuki Sierra 4X drive.

I'm not sure which year model it is, 90's / 80's, but I just had to pick them both up 'cause she was driving along and her wheels just locked and the car came to a hault, couldn't roll the damn thing off the road 'cause they still wouldn't move! Does anyone know what this is, and if so how to fix it?

It's all the little things in it that screw up, the engine is brand new so I don't think it's that... my friend said that it's most likely the gear box locking up or the brake booster stuffed up -- can anyone verify?

THANKS IN ADVANCE!

if it was the brakes locking up or grabbing just after it happend the rims would have been really hot but i don't know if ya checked that or the rims will be very tricky to get off. If its the gearbox unlock ya front hubs and the front should be free and disconnect ya tail shaft and it can be moved again.

They were taking off, shifted into gear and the wheels locked I think... thanks for the quick responses, Trev it's possible!

too quick: what do you mean the 'front should be free' and 'it can be moved again?'

NOT too sure if they're manually locking hubs, I'm going over their place now to ask. Be back soon!

Its a possibility to look at as it happened to our 4wd a few times taking off, A few of the diff gears sheared off and 1 got stuck between the crown and pinnion gears locking it.

4 wheel drives have either manuel locking front hubs of automatic locking hubs. when they are locked it turns into a 4wd when unlocked it is just a rwd. If it was ya gearbox shitting itself unlock ya front hubs if they were locked and remove the tail shaft disconnecting the gearbox from the rear diff.

If it's nothing to do with the brakes it'll be the transfer case or the diff. Put it in neutral, jack up the ass end and disconnect the tail shaft. if the diff spins, not the diff. Try spining the transfer case, which is more likely what it is, my mate races sierra's and these are the weakest link (when you have a strong 4age pushing things)

just put the trasfer case and gearbox in to neutral, it should move then, if this does not work remove the rear drive shaft and lock the front hubs.. then you can drive around with a front wheel drive sierra.. If the car was in 4wd with front hubs locked then you may have stuffed every thing..
