i have done some searchs but havnt found the answers I'm lokking for.

 

i have a ae86 twin cam corolla with a 4age motor.

I'm wanting to know if

*the big port 4age twin cam is the 100kw 4age motor

*are the bell housing the same for the whole 4age family (supercharged,black top, silver top)

All 4agze's are transversly mounted in corolla's and mr2's(mounted side to side like a fwd).

 

All 20v's are front wheel drive standard.

big port = 86kw

t50 won't fit onto 4agze unless you change the flywheel

The 'small-port' is the 100kw motor.

i have found out my car is a 82 not 86

 

i just want to check i've got evrything right

 

the small port 4age=100kw

the big port 4age=86kw

 

the 4agze will bolt to the gear box thats in my ae82 if i change the fly wheel but if i wanted to put a black or silver top motor in i'd have to change gear box.

 

all the motors (4age,4agze,black and silver top) will fit into my 86 model ae82 twin cam body without changing engin mounts.

 

by the way will my extractors fit on to a 4agze or black/silver top motor?

i think all exhaust ports are the same but the studs may be in different positions, some one here will confirm i'm sure.

The gearboxes that are on the 4age's are c52 and 4agze gearboxes are e52 and are stronger and some are lsd. I think a c52 could handle a 4agze for to long but prove me wrong. :P

 

You will need a t50 or a w series if you wanted to convert a fwd engine to rwd like into a ke70 or ae71 or whatever floats ya boat.

16v exhaust studs are in different spots i think to a 20v.

how do you tell the difference between a small and big port 4age without taking the head off?

Bigports have a TVIS plate inbetween the manifold and the head, Smallports don't have this..

There have been many, arguments on the issue of TVIS on early model 16 valve 4A-GE. The TVIS creates higher velocity intake charge at the engine's lower operating range by closing off one intake runner of the pair on each cylinder. Now, this is a highly effective method of making usable torque curves while retaining higher volume flow at high operating range. In most near normal applications, generally meaning light bolt-on tuning, the TVIS continues to function very well. Thus keeping it is a very good idea. However, heavier modifications including ECU, Carburetion, highly aggressive valve train/cam and internal work all present effects which create difficulty in controlling these items. For example, the triggers for the TVIS will be eliminated for carbureted applications, and it's variable induction, even if it was operational presents more complex challenge to jetting your carburetors. Heavily modified engine which greatly alters maximum rev range and shifts the power band in either direction will present similar challenges to an ECU programmer as well. In those cases it is easier to remove the TVIS and use the capabilities of the ECU tuning or carburetor jets to match your desired torque range. In short, for most basic performance upgrades, the TVIS should be kept and maintained to give nicer overall torque curve which does NOT inhibit power in any significant way.

i had a look, the tvis plate is on the top of the intake manifold

 

i have found a head with no intake mainfold, how could i find out if it's small or big port?

*Numbers on head?

*diameter of valves?

 

if anyone could tell me how to find out what port it is it would be great
