hey all well my corolla atm has a 3k and i want to get rid of that but i don't know what to go with next 5k or 7k

i know the 7k would be more powerful but they are also harder to get and parts are hard to get arnt they :lolcry:

the 5k will be more cheaper and less powerful but are parts still hard to get

I think you will find the 7K is easier to get parts for as it is a newer motor..

As it stands the 5K and 7K motors are still common in commercial vehicles, So I can't see there being great dramas to get parts..

It really comes down to how much money you want to spend, Either would be a great upgrade from the slug 3K..

i also have a 5k for sale if your interested, runs 4age pistons stage 5 cam, quadthrottle bodies, fuel injected with a haltch ecu elec dizzy, shaved block and a k series head for 1300 ono

Thats a pretty serious sounding engine anastasios!!

Out of interest, what quad throttle bodies are you usingon it? 20v, or some type of after market items?

Also, what Haltech do you have and would you consider seperating it? I'm on the hunt for an ECU again!

I was in the same boat as you a few months ago and went 5K however I now run a 4age and love it!

The 5K I had was bored 30 thou had a stage 2 cam and a webber and it went fairly well. If your going to by a K motor buy one thats already been worked, its a lot cheaper that way.

I found parts fairly easy to get for the 5K but just have a look whats around. 7Ks are hard to come across and a fairly pricey considering what they are so just have a look but both engines are capable of making OK power.

Or just put up with the 3K for a while, save some money and go 4a.

The box wouldnt be that much of an issue if you were sensible with it. I drove my 5K around for months with a K50 box and never had any hassles and I did give it a hard time. But you can get adapter bell housing for T50 boxes and I think W5* series aswell.

Goodluck with your project mate!

i think i would rather a 5k or 7k insted of a 4age dunno why but i like k motors better, i think soon i shall be on the prowl for a worked 5k i think

Lukey my rolla has a 7K in it, its pretty much standard apart from an exhaust and filter, and it pulls very well down low, but a little wheezy up high. My only dilemna with it so far has been the box which you can check out in my thread 7K 5 speed dilemna. If you want any more info on installing this engine let me know.
