  1. Hey guys ending up figuring out my dizzy is a points dizzy brought a gt40r coil and it works perfectly engines definitely getting more spark now  Thank you for your help.
  2. Thanks for your responses guys. I would like to keep my current dizzy to be honest just don't really see the point of changing it when its working perfectly fine and my 4ku has done low ks so it should be sweet for some time yet. I thought it was a given that I had a points dizzy but after rianwest's comment I'm not really not sure anymore. How can I tell what dizzy I have for sure? Some info I can provide is car is 82 ke70, original 4ku not touched at all until I got my hands on it lol. We had to fiddle around with the dizzy a lot finally after a long time we managed to get it pin-point perfect and the 4k fired up.
  3. Hey guys finally got my 4ku running this week after several months of work on the engine headwork, cam, sidedrafts etc. My mechanic reckons my factory coil pack just isn't upto it and not sparking enough for the engine so I'm after a new 1. What do you guys recommend I upgrade to? I heard bosch is good but I have no idea what model would be good for my engine. How hard is it to hook up the coil can we do it in my backyard lol or will I have to take it to an auto electrician? Oh yeah I have a points dizzy or at least I'm 99% sure I do lol, thanks guys.
  4. Your right they do look nice just have a good look on google you might be able to find someone that sends them to oz or maybe contact diamondracing and see if they will send a set to oz shipping wont be cheap at all tho u'll end up paying just as much if not more for shipping than for the wheels themselves >|
  5. Had to remove air-con from my ke70 a few weeks ago. I will be running sidedrafts and there wasn't enough room with air-con we just pulled it out at the firewall. Thing is one of my sidedraft filters will be almost directly under where we pulled in out from I'm a bit concerned that air-con gas/fluid stuff will drip all over and wrecking my brand new filter. Is this a possibility? If so what can I do to prevent it? Thanks
  6. I'm not sure mate I was told that their different Redline being the better of the 2? Here's a link to the Lynx kit what do you guys think of it does it have everything that's needed? lynx dhla kit
  7. The only place I can find redline kits here in New Zealand charge bout $250AU which is bloody expensive is you ask me hence the reason I'm looking for an alternative. What retailers in aussie sell redline kits and how much are they? Sounds like you guys are getting a much better deal on them than me! I'm willing to import some from across the ditch if their decently priced enough. Anyone have experience with Lynx linkage kits? Theres someone here the sells them for a lot cheaper than redline kits but Ive been told that they aren't great quality and apparently don't even have everything you need so you still have to buy/make up extra stuff to make them work.
  8. If your planning on revving out to something crazy like 9000rpms definatley go with duals mate.
  9. Brought some springs from by local cam shop for my 4k stated that they were for a12 datson fitted my 4k perfectly just singles as I thought doubles was a waste of money not like I'm planing on revving out to 9000rpm or anything lol.
  10. Hey guys will be putting twin Dhla sidies on my 4k soon :) Just one thing I still have to figure out and that is setting up linkages for them. I know you can buy linkage kits but I'm not too interested in them to be honest especially with how expensive they are! I'm interested in making a cable linkage setup. Ive been told you can use a few parts out of a factory carb and a few other bits and pieces and you can make up your own linkages. Problem is other than that I don't have any info on making my own linkages. Has anyone on here made their own linkages? If so what parts did you use and how did you go about setting it up? Pics would be a great help, thanks guys.
  11. I got 15x8 0 offset on my ke70 with lowering springs all round and shorter shocks in the rear. Tyres rub on rear guards but thats only with the guards quickly bashed out I haven't got around to doing them properly but will be similar to the tech article you mentioned once done. Fronts OK at the moment but will need to come lower as I still have to make the front springs captive. Guards will have to come out quite a bit but I shouldn't have an issue once their done hope this helps.
  12. Thanks guys set my timing chain up today on the standard marks. To save myself from starting a new thread how long would I have to run my engine in for before its safe for the dyno? I got my cam ground, headwork done, sidedraft carbs and a new clutch which has been used on a different k-series before but only for 1000kms. Haven't touched anything else like pistons, rings, bearings etc. Also my cam sheet says that I should let my 4k idle at 2000rpms for the first 60minutes is this more than necessary? As I being told 30 minutes would be efficient enough, thanks.
  13. Thanks Philby, someone told me that I would have to set the timing marks differently I just assumed he meant the cam-crank sprocket timing but what you said about the Ignition timing makes a lot more sense to me. On that note isn't that one of the things they would sort out on the dyno when I take it in to them? Otherwise what am I spending my hard earned cash on? Also on my cam sheet it says for best results time intake valve fully open 105° degrees ATDC. I have no idea what the hell that means lol.
  14. Hey guys will be putting my 4k and my newly ground cam back together over the weekend hopefully. Could someone please tell me how to set up the cam properly? Appertaley your not ment to put them on the standard marks like you would normally would with a standard cam, thanks.
  15. Ramflos aren't that great from what Ive heard better than stock yeah but there's definitely better options out there like k&n etc.
  16. Thanks Taz_Rx I'm just gonna end up doing that I think I wanted to know the sizes because I wanted to buy them through eBay cheaper and shipped to my door I would be stupid not to really lol but I'll do go in and buy them the old fashioned way. Can someone please school me about trumpets/ram tubes/velocity stacks? What length is best for a worked 4k? I will be getting good filters like k&n or similar is it necessary for me to run trumpets or will I get away with just running filters? Thanks.
  17. Looks like Ive got a bit of discussion going lol. Did quite a bit of research before I brought it and a lot of people say that dhlas will run sweet off the factory pump with no regulator and others say that you need a regulator. Ive already got my Holley so I'm definitely installing it hopefully it will help a bit when it comes to tuning at worst I'll have a bit of bling for the engine bay I guess lol. I'm still confused at hell about the fittings so I was wondering if someone can help me out there. I found out the the stock fuel line is 8mm which converts to 1/4" so I have that part figured out what I'm really confused about is the fittings on the Holley. I measured it out to be 15mm which is 1/2" but the problem is I can find no fittings what-so ever that are 1/2" to 1/4" looked it up a bit and the general consensus is that the Holley fittings are 3/8" which is 10mm there's tonnes of 3/8" to 1/4" fittings but 3/8" is quite a bit smaller am I missing something here? I got a feeling that I am missing something hopefully cos its a bit funny that there's tonnes of 3/8" to 1/4" fittings and no 1/2" to 1/4" fittings at all hopefully someone can clear all this up for me.. Thanks guys.
  18. So I ended up buying a Holley but I haven't got a clue about the fittings. I measured that the threads on the Holley and they are 15mm and the size of the factory fuel line is anywhere between 6-8mm it was hard to measure roughly cut fuel lines please note my measurement skills suck so I'm probably a mm or 2 out on the Holley threads as-well. Could someone please tell me what the correct measurements of both the Holley threads and factory are? Also What are the sizes when their converted to inches and AN? Thanks.
  19. Since were kinda on the topic I currently have Lovell springs in my ke70 everything's sweet expect for he front which isn't captive at all. I know that you can't just buy aftermarket shocks for the front so I'm thinking about doing a ae86 conversion (86 struts etc) I was just wondering if my current front springs would be sweet fitting into ae86 struts or would I have to buy new front springs? Thanks.
  20. Thanks for your responses guys cleared it up for me big time. I'm gonna stick with my factory fuel pump purely just to keep costs down this build's costing be enough already :P So all I have to do is mount the fpr between the fuel pump and the carbs? What do you guys think of the following reg do yous think it will do the job? http://www.jcwhitney.com/fuel-pressure-reg...t/p2011023.jcwx http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/EMPI-9091-V...sQ5fAccessories Yeah I know its not a Holley but I like to be a little different lol and I know that Empi is a good reputable brand so I know I'm not getting a crappy made unit. Thats a bloody nice wagon by the way Philbey!
  21. Hey guys I got a few questions about sidedrafts I will be putting twin dhlas on my 4k soon. I have read on a few different websites now that I will have to upgrade my fuel pressure regulator is this true or will my factory reg be capable of doing the job? I would also like to know where I could purchase linkages from as I wouldn't have a clue where to find them, thanks.
  22. Don't mean to hijack your thread Cyo18r but what are the options and what do I need for upgrading the front? I have superlow springs all round. Got kyb aftermarket shocks in the rear and its sweet but the front is still uncaptive so Ive got to find a solution before warrant of fitness time.
  23. Ive got a a bit of a noobish question how on earth do you figure out the gap distance? Never had to worry about gapping spark plugs before.
  24. I dumbly brought a set of emission Dellortos Dhlas a while ago this was before I knew there was two types of dhlas. Lets just say I wasn't too happy that I learnt about there being two types of dhlas after I brought them and Ive course I had to buy the wrong kind :) Appertaley the problem with emission dhlas is that their harder to tune for smaller engines like ours. Appertaley adding a bigger idle jets gets like 60 or 65s will stop the idle and acceleration problems that emission carbs can cause on smaller engines. I'm still a few weeks away from getting my engine put back together and my carbs put on so I can't tell you how they go unfortunately. Heres a few links that I had bookmarked has some info on dhla emission carbs and probably explains it better than I ever could lol. http://forums.vwvortex.com/showthread.php?4046515 http://szendwich.freeweb.hu/index.php?acti...&what=carb3
