Ae71 Manual Conversion. What Do I Need?
Sidewinder replied to Le|Garage's topic in AExx Corolla Discussion
you will also need the clutch itself, along with pressure plate and the assoc. bearings. i got the lot for my 4k-c from repco for around $150 bucks. std duty. heavy duty i imagine would be alot more -
Sheet. ah well :)

Hi all, a mate of mine has some sigma seats for sale that bolted straight into her ke10 without any modifications at all. does anyone know if it would be the same case with ke70? or is the bolt spacing different?

Too Much Carbs? 5k In Need Of Lower Carb Diet Perhaps?
Sidewinder replied to Sidewinder's topic in General Mechanical
Good read that! i was a bit worried as my weber manifold doesent have provisions for vacuum advance or emissions..at least the guide answers my questions as to wether or not the vacuum advance is neccesary -

what exactly does getting it recurved involve? ive heard it mentioned heaps here in the forum and in the FAQ but i still have no idea? id love to get it tuned on a dyno, but i don't have any carby specialists up here with a dyno. the only people here with a dyno all want nothing to do with carby cars...full sik pretend "performance" shops (I'm sure you know the type) -
definatly wouldnt go any larger that 15"..others will know more about width sizes etc

for some reason or another, the person who built the motor has done away with the elec. dissy put a 4k points one in. its high up on my list of plans though. points dissy is currently advanced as far as I could take it without pinging -
Too Much Carbs? 5k In Need Of Lower Carb Diet Perhaps?
Sidewinder replied to Sidewinder's topic in General Mechanical
excellent, i don't need to spend money on chokes then :D that leaves my other 2 questions then. without provisions for polution gear, how will i ever get it engineered? or will that need different carbies again? i really miss the lump idle, and I'm seriously considering changing to a carby that will bring it back and allow me to engineer my car -

So more of a tuning problem? I just found out they have actually been set up to run as a 32mm instead of the full 40mm? sorry i don't know much about carbies. will i ever be able to get my lump back with these? -
Hi all, PRE-EMPTIVE CLIFFNOTES: worked 5k motor is slow, thinking stupid amount of carbs may be the issue. want lump idle back ,and am worried i wont be able to engineer with webers on Looooong time lurker, rare poster here, looking for a little bit of advice I have recently put a worked 5k into my corolla, with the following mods as told by the previous owner: 5k engine, (ex rally car ) balanced, blueprinted, flat top pistons, lots of head work, wild cam ( can't remember all specs but 500thou lift ) custom made valves, pushrods and rocker gear. twin 40mm dcoe webers. Extractors. this was all copied and pasted from a thread on the motor's previous car, so forgive me if the cam specs seem a little wierd. Now with something like this id be hoping for something a little bit quick, but to be honest its only a small power upgrade from the old 4k in my ke70. I know alot of this would be due to still running the standard exhaust welded on to the extractors. its obviously the big bottleneck in the setup, but how much of a difference would we be talking here? After a fair bit of research, the general consensus around the K motor nuts is that 2 40mm carbies is a bit big, and i seem to think it may be half my problem. the car bogs down if you try to accelerate too quickly, and its almost like its being flooded (no proof to back this up, just thinking theories. highly likely its caused by lack of exhaust instead). the ke10 the motor used to be in felt like a rocket ship in comparison to the motor in my car, and the only 2 differences between the motor now and the motor then is the exhaust, and the carby setup. the motor has a huge cam in it and once upon a time it would lump idle like the toughest little K motor that would ever make me proud! this was with a pair of dellorto carbies on it, though I am unsure of the size. since putting the 40mm webers on, the motor now has no lump at all. I'm wondering if this may be a sign the carbies are too big? I'm also planning a sc14 setup soon, and am wondering if these carbs would be worth having at all for a drawthrough setup? also, the webers have no provisions for polution gear, should i be worried about trying to get this engineered in QLD? sorry for the long post, hopefully someone can help

Thanks for the replies guys, I forgot all about swaybars lol What I will probably end up doing is put std strut type shocks in to get the car roadworthy again...and then if its not good enough for me ill attempt ae86 coilovers, brakes etc I'm heading out to my folks place today (yayy public holiday :D) to muck about with my parts car/basher ke70 to teach myself how to change a shock absorber, as I'd like to do as much of the work on my car as I can. Is changing the bushes something is should be able to do? What tools will I need? And does anyone have a list of which ones to ask for? No one seems to sell a kit up here Once again sorry for all the questions..I'm still a 'LOL NUB' when it comes to suspension
-
Hey all, after a good week of searching through here, ke70.com, and the faq, i still havent been able to find a straight answer to the following question; is there any DECENT suspension i can upgrade to with a simple upgrade of shocks, springs and bushes? every guide/thread/message in a bottle i read seems to insist that ae86/corona struts are a bare minimum upgrade...which I'm kinda finding it hard to believe I don't want super hard dorifto dori dori suspension, but i hate body roll, and would like to be able to throw the back end out if the time and place calls for it... mainly thought, i want a nice setup to enjoy hillclimbing on the local mountain rd i have a similar question about brakes too... is there any decent brake upgrade that will work with the standard ke70 suspension? also how important are big wheels? i have 13" wheels atm (wider than stock) but I'm worried about sidewall flex? sorry for all the questions, any help would be greatly appreciated

this car is owned by one of the regulars over at performance forums, and has a paint tin for a bonnet scoop :y: I'm suprised it took this long to find its way here actually i did something similar to my parts shitter, with a sink gt wing. pics soon

If you ever plan to put it on the road, id be looking at some custom plates :P those ones will get u booked ;)

I'm only intersted in doing my exhaust to achieve a certain sound I'm chasing.. you know how some exhausts have a bit of a "bubble" (probably the wrong word for it) as they go up the revs? i originally thought it was a cannon that did this, but all that does it make it loud, and much deeper than i want it to be....how do i get that bubble?
-
difference of opinion i spose... i think the late front has more potentail to look good :lock_folder: which is why i want one :lock:
-
if i go rip all the above bits from an ae71 at a wrecker, will they bolt straight up to my ke70?
-
mine looks ghey. invisible exhaust FTW
-
i don't know about mine...when i look at the car and i compare it to the sound its making....it just seems wrong....small cars shouldnt make such a deep note. but then again my car is still auto until saturday
-
i put a cannon on my car 2 weeks ago, and its coming off very soon in favour of a 2" system with extractors, as quiet as possible and a non-visible tip. stay away from the cannons. they suck. reallly bad, esp. on a ke70
-
your project car..is that nicks old car? the one biggo was selling?
-
has anyone done this in a ke70 with non-tacho dash? i havent tried yet, but something tells me the clock will be an ass to deal with? am i right?
