  1. this car needs more skids :y: what have you been doing for engine mounts? modified ae71 crossmember? the old 5k doesent run anymore :hammer:
  2. theres 2 ways you can do it one involved custom crossmembers, tailshaft, diffs, manual conversion, suspension, wider wheels, fuel system, manual pedalbox, customer hydro clutch setup, intercooler piping, dump pipe and exhaust, mounts, pluss everything to make it emissions legal. or for the much easier, and likely cheaper way its a nice and simple 3 step process 1. jack up the ke70's radiator cap 2. slide ca18det powered 180sx/silvia under radiator cap, lower radiator cap to its orginal height 3. replace the radiator cap.
  3. You're kidding yourself so much it is truly amazing. You will need upgraded fuel pump, crossmember changes etc blah to get the motor in and running. but I'm sure you knew that. The brakes however, is laughable. You will need far better than 1977 brakes to safely operate a ke20 with a 13b in it. suspension will also need to be looked at, as will the driveline. if you plan to drive your rotoary powered ke20 with just ke55 brakes, please do not share a road with me.
  4. 4wd 4agze has definatly been done. have a look at the 4wd corolla wagon on toymods( i think? mighta been ae86dc ) on airbags, 4agze and respray!
  5. i saw no flange? *shrugs* what i did manage to do though, was snap a stud whilst reattaching the sump. don't overtighten em fellas! got front main seal, timing cover and crank pulley seal done....coudnt use my sump gasket though as the kit i have is for a 3k bottom end, and the bolt holes were different :D so i had to put the old gasket back on...its still in alright nick tho...how likely would it be to leak now that i have broken the seal and reattachted it?
  6. what do you mean by "double nut" the studs?
  7. exactly the kind of clarity of information i was after. thankyou very much :D
  8. ive searched heaps on this, but my mates and i have been trying all day to remove my timing cover as per the gregorys manual in order to change the gasket and adjust the timing chain. how do you actually get it off? we have all the bolts off and taken taken the nuts off the studs that go in to the sump. we have also removed the pulley seal is it possible to remove the timing cover without dropping the sump? any help would be greatly appreciated
  9. there has to be a market to warrant making those crap taillights for a certain model... for ke70's....id say you would be the entire market. get some DX tails if you want to look slightly different, or buy a lancer for your altezzas.
  10. trying to help a mate on another forum, http://www.performanceforums.com/forums/sh...1#post840226743 seems to be after the weight of a k motor without ancillaries? anyone bothered to weigh thiers? i will weigh my spare 4k on the weekend, but just checking if anyone has weighed one before?
  11. nah the idea is to see if a ke55 dash (the whole lot) can be modified to fit into a ke70
  12. wires are wires, regardless of brand. find what you want, find where u need it to go - solder.
  13. agreed with others have said. in most cases, a 4k will cost you 50 bucks + a weekend + beer the mates who help you. simple, effective mod. if its not enough, throw some cheap mods at it
  14. has anyone tried to put a ke55 dash into a ke70? if not, has anyone ever measured the dash in thier ke55? i just crawled out from my rock after lurking for 3 or something years and managed to miss tax_rx's awesome dash...and now i want!
  15. nothing will be an oem looking fit, id suggest you measure your filter and find a large stock box to suit...ie a falcon item
  16. This is my project throughout time and eternity itself. focus is boring, so i gotta have something to keep me occupied. Bought the car in 2005 as an auto from my grandfathers estate, and it was one of my first cars. Auto + 4k makes for a very dull car so with the help of a few mates from pulse motorsports car club, we converted it to manual and it was a good learning experience. A couple of the bits i bought didnt match up as they were from a ke55, so another ke70 shitta was bought for 100 bucks. still didnt have the clutch spacer for the firewall though..so the solution was to weld a 22mm socket to the firewall..dodgy..but does the job just the same. Ive been slowly trying to tidy it up and it has been teaching me heaps about cars, for which I am eternally grateful for. anyway, after what seemed like an eternity of 4k boringness, a mate offered to sell me the engine from her KE10, as she is upgrading to a 4agze. the motor is fairly worked, specs are as follows : 5k engine, (1.5l ex rally car ) balanced, blueprinted, flat top pistons, lots of head work, wild cam ( can't remember all specs but 500thou lift ), custom made valves, pushrods and rocker gear. twin 40mm dcoe webers. Extractors. 5k's originally came out with elec. ignition, but stuffs me where that ran off to, this has points, so I'm in the market for an elec. ignition setup from another 5k, also needs a bigger exhaust as the extractors are currently welded straight to the original exhaust. 2" press bent should happen very soon though. future plans involve sc14 goodness, but currently trying to sort out some suspension upgrades in time for its virgin sprints meeting. Car when paint was in a lot better condition: removal of tired 4k http://www.ziptiemotorsport.com/down....php?id=18&t=1 5k + webers in: http://www.ziptiemotorsport.com/down....php?id=29&t=1 Extractors mated to shithous std exhaust. I daresay its a safe bet to think this is the main restriction at the moment. http://www.ziptiemotorsport.com/down...d=28&mode=view
  17. did u get pressure plate, bearings etc to go with your clutch? also make sure you check out that speedo cable too.
  18. not all of it. doing a proper job it will require removing the spots welds that hold your front radiator support/beaver panel in, removing it, and spot welding in the one from an earlier model ke70 some have had success in the past though simply using metal strips to hold the head lights instead of converting the radiator support, but I'm not sure how legal this is and what it would mean for headlight adjustments
  19. being 17, are you affected by some states anti-fun/hooning laws? if so, you will have to stick with the K motor for a while
  20. how about a 3sgte instead? they are plentiful amongst the importers and arent too hard to get parts for as they share the basic platfom with the camry/celica motors of the early nineties
  21. i have an electric boot release :y: god i love jaycar they're pretty cheap too if you get stuck with the mechanical one
  22. if you are after leads, K series leads are cheap as chips genuine, so toyota should be able hook you up
  23. ive had my fair share of bikes...mostly off road though started off on a suzuki DR400 when i was like 12...stopped riding that after i got trapped under it alone in the bush..had to drain the tank and push it home to get it off me! then i decided a lighter bike would be better (and the Dr had seized by the time i started riding again) ..so i had the other end of the scale, a honda cb100 roadbike from the 60's (felt like it anyway) that i used to thrash along bush tracks. followed by my first 2 stroke bike, a TS-185. now i have the obligatory cb250 (retina burning orange) and a something-or-rather ex army 900cc trailbike
  24. i can confirm on the starter. i used the same starter from my auto when doing my manual conversion also, make sure you have the correct crossmember and tailshaft..i bought a bunch of stuff from a wrecker under instruction it was all from another ke70. turns out it was all from a ke55 oh, speedo cable will be different too (based on k series auto to k-50, dunno bout the a/t series stuff). but thats not much of an issue as you have to take out the gauge cluster to get to the pedal box bolts anyway. just gotta rip the old cable out and put the new one in
