Yeah KYBs might be sounding good. Are the excel g's shorter stroke than the standard sw20's?
And yes Sam_Q but I'm still after more than 60mm but if there are no other options, il be going with whatever i can get.
-
I have had a quick look around but havent really found anything so..
Does anyone know of a short stroke insert out of another car that will fit the 86 and xt130 strut?
I know the st185 and sw20 are shorter but i need short short. Like short enough to keep cut springs captive with the tire
slightly tucking the guard on 13" wheels.
And before someone says it, coilovers arent an option.
Cheers

Found this website here. It started up yesterday.
It could turn out really good with some support from people here as Tassie doesnt have many dedicated car websites.

The wheel jammed against the rotor or caliper? I know the standard 13s wont fit over the xt130 front end.

Heres a trick i did last weekend when i was after something to do. Take the plastic lens off the parker lights,
push the bulb and wire out through the back of it and run the wire down to underneath the bumper.
Sticky tape or somehow hold it there. Instant fog lights :P

Put some of the window tint on your blinkers in the front bar. Looks good as man i did it to mine haha would go down well with your matte black too
-
I don't know how to work out offsets, but my new rims sit exactly 40mm wider than standard and were only just rubbing at the back with mildly stretched tires.
-
The earlier ones have slightly different ratios? Not really worth swapping though
-
If your just after some standard steely 14" just go for some off an older model RWD corona. Quite a few of them had 14s and have the same stud pattern
-
Oh na its easy it only takes 20 minutes or less just to pull them up. Depends what kind of quality finish your after, youll probably be able to see a lip where you taped it.
-
Well i did the front trims carefully from the underneath inside the actual door, which worked fine and took about an hour haha.
The back ones i gave up on and just levered them up a bit from the out side and you can just pull them up so you can do it on the front as well i guess.
This didnt damage mine at all or break the clips. Just be careful
-
Yeah theres these special clips inside. I took off the inside door panel trim thing and wound up the window and managed to get to them.
Its a bit of work but the window was in the way with the back windows but i realised you can just pop them off with a screw driver haha.
Just put the screw driver under neath so you can get a hold on it with your hands and you shoud ne able to pull it up with out braking it
-
Happened to me about a week ago. the fuse is in the little kick panel next to the accelerator pedal where the front speaker is.
Yep, you have to unbolt that plastic trim, and take off a little cover between all the wires, and there is about 6 fuses there.

I had the exact same problem when i got mine. They had put a brake light in out of an earlier model ke70 and had just wired it up dodgily and when i fixed that up, problem solved.
-
I am having the same problem myself. Except my Ke is blue. On a white one i would definately go with a red and black pinstripe they look awesome.

I have checked this before and the 4 speed and 5 speed gear ratios are all the same.
1st: 3.789
2nd: 2.220
3rd: 1.435
4th: 1.00
5th on the 5 speed is 0.865
5 speed would only be worth getting if it was under $150 i think
I wouldnt pay more than that for a 500 rpm drop along the highways.
Might as well put slightly bigger wheels on the back.
-
Also dpends a bit what the car looks like. if youve got a good nick Ke with nothing too suss like mass camber on the front or huge offset,
you can easy get away with the wheels just tucking the guards. If you spray it matt black, have rust, dents drift stickers and all other sorts of defect magnets,
thats where youll run into trouble.
-
don't know about r34 or cefiro but go ae86/Xt130 corona/ s13 front struts to give you coilover options. Xt130 lower control arms for 1 degree of camber, cut falcon springs and VK to VN commodore wagon rear shocks.
-
Hey mate have you got a descent exhaust no holes? Cheers
-
A few people have just left the ae71 spring, top spring hat thing, and the thing that you can see from in the bonnet
(i can't remember what they call it, i call it the top thing). And the spring is ment to fit fine on the lower spring hat
even though it is smaller than the coronas spring.

Sumo is the best

Invest and ke70 should never go in the same sentence

Oh so are the cartridges too long or too short to go straight in to the 86 strut?
Those spacers look to hold the cartridge down in the strut tube.
And thanks for the measurements rianwest
