That's a pretty impressive output! My 5k is only 83kw at the fly? an extra 40odd kw would be great! -

It has EFI on the engine but I'm going to run carbs I think, as for supercharging I have been in contact with a few engineers about a VASS certificate and some suggest it will have to meet emissions test that could cost $3000 to have done! no thanks! Has anyone had their supercharged K series VASS certified? if so by whom and how? I would love a blower but would also like it to be legal. -
Just bought myself a 7k, which will eventually replace the 5k currently in the ke30. The 5k was making 87HP atw @6000rpm which was with the old camshaft ([email protected]') since then I have fitted a bigger [email protected]' cam so maybe up around 95hp? but will confirm this on Thu at the Dyno. Pretty happy but as per usual I want a little more hence the 7k Has anyone built a decent 7K? experience? power figures? I will do the usual... up the compression ratio, bigger lift and duration cam, rev to 6500 i'm thinking due to the stroke length, porting, bigger valves, valve springs, side drafts, exhaust and rebuild the engine. I'm aware I will have to mod the engine mounts and probably the sump to make it fit, any thing else? Ideas? Cheers!

Worked 5K, Power Drop After 5000Rpm

My two cents... Chokes way too big! should be more like 32/34mm. I run 12deg static, dizzy mod to limit mechanical adv to 20deg, recurved to give all in adv of 32deg@3200rpm. With those massive chokes it will run pretty poorly low down and you will need heaps of static advance to get some drivability down low, far from ideal if the dizzy is not recurved to limit mechanical adv. I played round with a few dizzys 3/4/5k mechanical adv was between 25/35deg std -
How Much To Extend Ke30 Lca's For 1-2Deg Neg Camber?

Camber top plates won't work due to spring diameter, no room to move. Yeah that would work if I could afford it!! -

Cheers! that's too much for me, so 15mm should be good then. -
Hi all, I'm about to cut and weld to sets of LCA's for my ke30 to get some negative camber, at present it's at zero degrees with factory length LCA's. The car is lowered 2.5 inches which has brought it from +1 to zero. I was thinking about 1.5 negative camber would be a good target and thought about 15mm longer than standard might be a good guess? Anyone done this before or have ideas about the length to add? Cheers

I'm looking for bigger valves for the 5K, the standard sizes are IN 36x100x8mm EX 29x100x8mm I went to see my engine guy today and he thinks we can fit 37-37.5mm IN valves without changing the seat. I don't want to spend the money to cut out and fit lager valves seats. Does anyone know what will work in the K series engines? or have had fitted to their motors? The Datsun A15 is 37x103.8x8mm so that may be able to be cut down to work. Ideas? Cheers

Spent a little time on the Dyno the other day, made 64kw/87hp at the wheels (6000rpm) we didn't rev it too hard as the tuning is not right. They have an engine Dyno next door and said from experience the power at flywheel would be 83kw/112hp. I have to fix the linkage set up for the twins as they are not moving in unison, once that's done we will have another go and get the jetting spot on as it lean and rich in different places. I'm pretty happy with that really, from a 1500cc its pretty sweet. I still have a bigger cam and twin side drafts to fit so I could well make the 100hp rear wheel I was aiming for!

Transistor Coil For 5K Dizzy, Recommendations
megamannz123 replied to megamannz123's topic in KExx Corolla Discussion
I have had the coil fitted for a week or so now and its a definite improvement over the old one. Starts and runs great, not one miss even flat under load up a hill in 5th. Very happy with the results! On a side not I had the car Dyno tuned and it put out 64kw/87hp at the wheels. Pretty happy with that as there is a few things to tidy up with the carb linkages and cam timing so if all goes well it should break the 90hp mark. I still have the big cam and Dellorto's to fit later too, so who knows where it will end up? could be 100hp! -
Transistor Coil For 5K Dizzy, Recommendations
megamannz123 replied to megamannz123's topic in KExx Corolla Discussion
After lots of reading about coils, outputs, dwell periods etc I ordered a HEC715 $50 from a workshop selling stock. From what I found when reading, the dizzy will work fine with the .5ohm primary resistance, the out put @ 40KV+ is far greater than the original coil, and sports coil I had fitted also the soak period required for a full charge will still be obtained at up to 7500-8000rpm on a 4 cylinder. Once fitted I will let you know how it goes. Cheers! -

Cheers, What is the name of the coil you have? Do you know the specs, output voltage? .3 ohms is really low, the MEC723 is 1.1ohms. The dizzy I have is a guide Nippon Denso, just recond and recurved. If I can run a HEC715, .5ohms that is a higher voltage but slower filling coil. http://www.rollaclub.com/board/topic/69409-coils-for-k-motors/ -
Transistor Coil For 5K Dizzy, Recommendations

Hi all, What coils can people recommend to run with the internal igniter 5K electronic dizzy. I have a few options in mind... A Bosch MEC or HEC transistor type Mallory HEI MSD blaster 2 They are all around the same output, 40KV. I have read that the very low primary resistance can be an issue for some igniters, but I'm not sure if the Nippon Denso one is ok or not with .5ish ohm primary resistance? -
Cheers guys, I have now installed my reconditioned and recurved electronic dizzy, makes a big difference being able to run the correct advance. Very pleased with the results! As for the carbs I think the best option is to rebuild the sets I have and sell three of them, install the remaining pair on my car and see how they go, if I'm not happy with the end result I can always hunt around for the pre pollution type later. I am having some dyno runs done next week to get an idea of where I'm at (Allcraft Automotives), balance the Aisan's and get the idle mixture set properly. I'm still playing with the twin Aisan's at the moment and they are going pretty good, new longer duration cam 240deg is on the way also up from 214deg

Hi all, I'm going to rebuild a set of 40mm Dellorto's for the 5k, question is which type to use. A guy I have been speaking with is saying don't bother with the DHLA f,g or h as they are no good during the progression stage, and suggested hunting for a set of DHLA pre pollution type. My question is, is anyone using the DHLA f,g,h models and are they OK? Does anyone have any experience going down this road with these carb types? I have four pairs in the garage, 2xf, 1xg, 1xh what should I use?
