  1. Hi all, Has anyone here fitted modified cams to their N/A Silver/Blacktop engines? What have you found that works or doesn't? I'm sure the basics of cam design apply to this engine in a similar way to others but i'm interested in the three inlet valve, small bucket design and its limitations. Cheers!

  4. Hi all, Selling my 2009 WRX as we have no need for the vehicle. Optioned with leather interior and sunroof, WR Blue, 139km, full Subaru dealer log book service history, cam belt done, climate control, cruise control, stability control etc. Excellent condition unmodified vehicle. RWC asking $14000 on Carsales but I'm open to reasonable offers, cheapest 2009 WRX in Vic. Cheers

  6. is it possible to fit the head gasket backwards? not familiar with the engine but can be done on others and causes issues. Just a thought.
  7. The Bahco looks very nice, I might have to save up for a bit, I guess its something that will hopefully last for years and years so better off getting a decent one. I think Aluminium, low profile and twin piston are the things I'm looking for now. Cheers all!
  8. Has anyone bought a decent, reasonably priced trolley jack recently? There are a ton on ebay but can see them in person do no idea on the quality, and then every auto parts store have different brands prices so its a bit of a minefield really. $150-$250 ish? thoughts?

  11. Hi all, Ive been on the Vic roads site but can't find the info i'm after. Is there a formula used to calculate engine capacity to vehicle weight that engineers use in Vic? I have read 3x for NA, or 2.5x Forced induction in a few old post from different states. Or is it solely up to the Engineer to deem the vehicle as being safe no matter what the engine size. I'm considering which engine to use in a ke25 760kg project. 13bbp, SR20, 4AGE, 3SGE, F20C or a turbo variant.

  13. 40thou over, 10:1 comp, twin 40mm Dellortos, light flywheel, electronic ignition, ported head, double valve springs, big cam, extractors, rebuild.

  15. Thanks for the info! I know I can go 1mm over using the factory valves seats but i'm wondering if its worth fitting new valve seats and going up to the 38mm, I haven't played with bigger valves before so not sure how much difference 37-38mm would make. Any ideas?
  16. Has anyone fitted larger valves to their K series engine, if so what engine were they from? I have done a bit of searching but not come across anything as a direct replacement. I'm thinking going from 36mm std to 38mm should help with top end.

  18. Cheers! The maximum allowed angle from shoulder to floor is 45deg but less than 10deg is the recommended, so you don't compress your spine in a crash. The plates under the parcel shelf will be easy enough to do but I was just unsure if the parcel shelf would be of acceptable strength? the more I look and think about it I sure it will be.
  19. Hi all, I'm looking to fit a race seat and harness in my ke30 for a few sprints and hill climbs (not for road use), my question is about how to do it properly. I have read all the CAMS regs etc and from what I understand for club level sprints as long as its all installed as per CAMS regs it will be OK. Do you have to have an inspection done by a CAMS official and get them signed off? or are the Scrutineers at events licenced or CAMS approved to OK things on the day? I'm a bit unsure. Am I correct in thinking that mod plates are only required when the car is being used on the public roads? Also rear mounting points for a harness in the KE30 on the parcel shelf using 50x75x3mm plates, will this be ok or would a further reinforcing plate be needed? Any advise would be appreciated.

  21. I was back on the dyno the other day with the new cam, up from 87whp to 95whp @6000rpm. (estimated 120hp/90kw at the fly) We also played with the timing and ended up backed off to 30deg all in down from 34. Still using the twin Aisan carbs but we were limited with the mixtures but had some success with altering the spring rate on the power valve so it cam on earlier as it was lean on the cruise. Power valve opens at about 24kw now. The Dellortos are going on when I get a chance so that will be interesting to see! also I will be fitting solid lifters. I made a little graph to show the difference...

Cheers for that! so the factory ECU is no good, I've been doing a bit of reading on Megasquirt and it looks like a great project, some people have great results and some not but it seem to be related to what your expectations are for a self build project ECU opposed to a complete wire up and go so to speak ECU. I like wires and soldering and making intricate electronics so I think it could be great! What about the factory injectors and sensors, I'm thinking a new MAP sensor and a wide band O2 will be required.
  23. Has anyone run boost through the factory 7k EFI. I'm wondering if it will cope with 10psi boost or will the factory ECU have issues and will an after market ECU be required (mega squirt) or something else? any success using factory set up with boost?
