  1. Worked 5K, getting some wheel spin from start and during some cornering in the hills.
  2. Can of worms! Thanks for you input guys, I found another TA22 but the guy wants $400, I also rang a heap of wreckers in Melbourne and they all laughed at me. Anyone have the name of a wrecker that may have something? I definitely won't weld it, last time I drove a welded diff on the road was 15 years ago and even I thought it was pretty dodgy back then in my bogan youth days!
  3. Maybe I should just weld my diff? Or would that be a disaster on the road?
  4. Great, thanks for the tip. Something like this? http://pages.ebay.com/link/?nav=item.view&alt=web&id=121533559515 My only concern is keeping the stud pattern and 13inch wheels I have. Can my hubs be welded onto the skyline shafts? Sorry if that's a stupid question but I haven't done a rear end swap before.
  5. Which one am I after? is one better than the other? I think its the earlier small axle one I want, but not sure?
  6. Cheers, a guy off Gumtree wants $600 delivered from NSW to Melbourne, its not rebuilt, so that's too expensive then! You guys know of anyone that has one?. There a couple of web sites I found selling Zenki LSD's new $770-$950
  7. Any info on the going rate for a complete TA22 open rear end? Is $500 a good price? I have found one that I might mod to fit the KE30 and buy a Kaaz Zenki LSD.
  8. G'day fullas, I need to replace my steering wheel, as you know the standard ke30 wheel is pretty dodgy for "spirited" driving, very thin and massive! So what are people using? recommend? ebay? wood/leather/suede? what suits the ke30?
  9. Sweet! I have emailed him with the specs as they are closed for chrissy. I'm getting some dyno runs done soon so will be interesting to see difference pre and post Twin Dellorto's and old vs new cam.
  10. Cheers Justin, I will get in touch with him and see what he thinks. After going for another drive with the diff ratio that is in the car it definitely needs to rev out more. Power is 3000/6000 at the moment good power for a 1500cc I must say though!
  11. Thanks Colin, Wade 169 appears to be similar duration to mine but less lift, .405 vs .442 Maybe .442 is too much for high revs? more duration less lift ? so the 5K does like to rev, just maybe not quite as hard as the smaller K's all other things being equal. Electric Carter pump in the mail and electric fan on the bench to fit when I get a day off! Do you recall what your timing was set at? was the dizzy points/electronic, recurved? Gavin, let us know how she goes once its all settled in. Your cam is similar duration/lift to Colins. I just finished rolling my arches as I was having some tyre rub, went for a "hoon" and its running great to about 6500 when it wants another gear. I'm real interested to hear how yours goes! Thanks fullas
  12. Just after peoples cam experience in a 5K, cheers.
  13. Cheers, I'm only using it for the odd weekend hoon, no city stop start stuff and I'm not worried if it's a bit gutless low end as when I drive it will be hard!
  14. ;) ha, yeah that's what I did in the first place!
  15. So my car is now up and running... ke30, rebuilt 5k, 1mm over, 9.8:1 comp, double valve springs, lightened flywheel, twin aisan carbs (soon to be replaced by 40mm Dellorto's), cam is 214deg @.050 (280deg adv) with .442' lift, 110deg lobe separation. It's making good power to about 6500 and then drops away and will only rev to 7500 at a push. From my experience with 3 and 4k's 8000 rpm is pretty easily achievable from memory? Does anyone have their 5k revving to 8000rpm? or is it only the little brothers 3 and 4 that like to rev that high? what cam would people suggest for a 5k? i'm sticking with hydro lifters as they are nice and smooth. What are people running cam wise that they are actually driving and can comment on how they drive rather than just hearsay. I am considering a cam from Auckland cams, as shown below... Type: Very fast Road RPM:4000-7500 Intake duration @.010":290 degrees Exhaust duration @.010":290 degrees Intake duration @.050":239 degrees Exhaust duration @.050":239 degrees Intake cam lift: .296" Exhaust cam lift: .296" LCA: 107 degrees Type: Very fast Road/Rally RPM:4000-8000 Intake duration @.010":312 degrees Exhaust duration @.010":315 degrees Intake duration @.050":244 degrees Exhaust duration @.050":246 degrees Intake cam lift: .304" Exhaust cam lift: .306" LCA: 106 degrees Any thoughts/experience? Cheers
  16. Hi all, has anyone used or know a PDR specialist in Melbourne, I have a few dents that I would like to get repaired but want to keep original paint. Cheers
  17. Will do, thanks for that!
  18. Could someone please measure their ke30 clutch cable and let me know the length. I'm ordering one from summit but they list the US left hand drive version (way too long) I'm doing a auto to man conversion. Cheers!
  19. Finished it up with a quick buff and dropped the engine in.
  20. I was at 45psi at the gun, bought a little Supercheap digital gauge $22. 100 paint to 150 Aclac 20 Came out good for a first paint job, it's definitely a feel thing, next step will be the whole car. Next year maybe 😜
  21. Finished it up today, got the gun set better and it is now way smoother. Might do a little wet sanding in places but it looks pretty close to factory finish now. Sweet!
  22. Cheers, about $60 each. Depends on their condition obviously. $40-$60. Coburg mag wheel polishers. Fits and balances tyres too.
  23. Got a couple of coats done today, should get it finished in the morning. It look pretty good I think the finish matches the rest of the car, not to glossy.
  24. Retro!! The hardest part was finding 13 inch Eagers in good condition, a lot of ebay/gumtree hunting. I did some sanding to get rid of the major pit marks and scratches with 600/800 grit from memory and then had them polished by a guy in Coburg. I tried doing it myself but was never happy with the results plus I have to get this thing driving for my wedding in 5 weeks! After polishing I painted the centres and polished/painted the original centre caps, modified them to fit and bam! done. I have heaps to do, but it's getting there.
