Info please? Was the ke30 SE model available in manual trans? or was the SE an auto and only the CS manual? I'm thinking about putting a manual in my SE but only want to if it was a factory option when sold.
-
Yup new shocks, bushes ok. I'm trying to keep it looking original so have pizza cutter tyres, that definitely doesn't help.
-
Yeah the ride height at the rear is ok i guess, but its still soft as hell round corners. It need to be a little stiffer.
-
Hi all, What are you recommendations for stiffening up the rear leaf springs on my ke30? Add another leaf I'm guessing, but from where or what? Any ideas? And to lower it a little a small lowering block is still the way to go?
-
Yeah that's for sure the easiest way, maybe I will talk to the car club inspector guy that does the club reg checks.

Hi all, I have been reading the Vicroads website in regards to engine swaps. From what I can see I need to have a declaration signed by a Toyota mechanic/dealer stating that my ke30 has been modified to the factory specs of the car that the 5k engine came out of (liteace van) Has anyone done this? can you have a RWC carried out instead, and if so do you have to have something for the RWC inspection for the motor conversion? Can your car club (TTCAV) inspector sign your car off for the engine swap when you have it inspected for club reg? Any ideas of the best way to do it? Cheers
-
Ok, cheers for the info. I will be applying asap (3 months) I have only had to have one RWC before and they guy was a real prick so I was a little worried. My car should be fine by the sounds of things, its in pretty good shape. Thanks again.
-
Yup, cheers. I have read that too, but are the RWC full on, check everything to the T kind of thing or are they a little more realistic on older cars?
-
Hi all, I have finally joined the TCCAV and I want to get my car on club rego this year. As you all know having a car you hardly drive and then getting the $600 rego bill is a real pain! I am wondering about the process, do you now have to get a RWC to go on club reg? if so are these inspections as tough as a normal RWC as they are for old cars that aren't driven much. My ke30 is in really good condition bar one spot of rust in the radiator support panel, so I'm worried this will be an issue for a RWC. Is there a RWC place you recommend for getting the club reg RWC, maybe a Rolla Club club member that's not going to be a prick about owning an old car. Cheers

$25 on eBay, so I think they would be about the same at NAPA or the like

Yup I have the exact same setup. Rebuilt 5k bottom, 5k head shaved to a 13cc combustion chamber, 22.5cc d dish piston, running a .8mm head shim. Comp at 9.7:1 So can I run the adjustable rockers from the 4k head with the hydro lifters and big cam. Couldn't I just set the tappet clearance to none? Won't that just be like having non adjustable tappets like the original 5k ones?
-
Ok all you engine gurus, I just spoke to crow cams and they suggested the cam below for my needs. They mentioned that I would need to change to a 4k head/adjustable rockers to use this cam due to the high lift. I want to stay with the 5k head as it has been restored etc. so can I just get different length push rods to suit once the cam is in or should I fit the 4k adjustable rockers to my 5k head. Ideas?

Does anyone have a k series engine workshop manual in either PDF or paper I could borrow?

Done, cheers!

Hey mate, I'm Also building up a 5k. 40thou over, twin sprinter carbs.. What cam have you decided on? Any recommendations? Comp ratio? From my calculations the parts I have it's gonna be up around 10.5:1 too high? Cheers
-
Well after a bit of cleaning it turns out that the block has been bored 40thou over and fitted with appropriate pistons, it looks like it has been done recently too as there are still nice uniform cross hatch hone marks in the bores. Also luk3333 has kindly offered to sell me a 5K head with original rockers, pushrods and even a lumpy cam! So this might just work out OK. I have a set of factory Asian twin carbs that I have had rebuilt so with fit these with the a full 2inch exhaust and it should go alright! Can anyone recommend a good Carb guy in Victoria? from what I know these are jetted for a 3k so they will need some adjusting. Has anyone had a good experience with a local Carb expert?
