  1. Go the Rollas! It would be really interesting to know exactly what they had done to the heads, manifolds and rear springs. I also like your comment about when the race was a real race....
  2. Yeh I sort of figured that they did the badge work - but was interested to try and find out what models they did work for and perhaps why they went broke/changed their name (as they are off the radar nowadays).
  3. I have a small Corolla badge (apx 6cm tall x 2.5 cm wide) that has a large "L" below the famed Corolla "C" with three stars above. On the back it says that it was produced by Half Moon Prod. Melb. Would love to know anything about this part manufacturer - perhaps somebody out there worked for AMI or Toyota may know something of them?
  4. I have a KE17 - which shares some common rubber seals with the KE10. This is what I have done and they all worked: Doors, front windscreen and rear windscreen - all bought from Phil's Rotaries. Bailey channel and weather strips - from Scotts Old Auto Rubber Rear side "flipper" window seals - Phil's Rotaries (ok but could be better) Boot seal from eBay retailed Livadee Cowl seal that goes under bonnet - Livadee also Bonnet bump rubbers - Phil's Rotaries Front Quarter Windows - Rare Spares site said they have this, so I duly ordered to find out the delivered product was nothing of the sort. If you find somebody who has some tie them down and call me please!
  5. The US seems to have its share of TE21's. Did we see these here in Australia at all?
  6. Sorry - I think I clicked the down arrow on your post - very sorry. I was meaning to click the respond directly button - as I am very interested in possibly talking to (am also in Brisbane) and would like to try and see if you recall any details about the bloke from The Valley. I have other contacts who may recall the guy and seeing some photos would be fun and beneficial. Also keen to know more about your KE11 build. regards, gary
  7. I've seen pics of Mark Thatchers TE37 car - I was lead to believe that after Bathurst it suffered a roll-over (possibly at Sandown). Regarding KE25's - it looks like Greville Arnel (yep same one who raced an XD Falcon) competed either a KE25 or possibly a TE27 in Victoria...I have asked him about this once, but am still awaiting the asnwer as to whether it was KE25 or TE27. I'd be interested to get a photocopy of the story you have.
  8. Jordain, I'm interested to see what you've got. Would be great if I can make these work. Have put a lot of work into the body and getting a good seal will be important in keeping it that way. With regard to the rear flipper windows (ie the ones that attach to the B pillar) - I bought these from Phil. The fit well, with exception to what some say, they pucker out as the round the joint at the C pillar lower end. But now that I have fitted them, its possible you are meant to "mitre" that joint. One of the Malay or Thai manufactures (which I dare say are the same moulding as Phil's) suggests that you mitre the joint...
  9. With complete fear of sounding like a nubey - does anybody know where you can get these - or for that fact if you can actually get them. Am in need of right and left for my KE17 race car build. Thanks.
  10. Hoping somebody may have the good oil on this: I'm building a KE17 Group Nc race car and its sort of become a resto...anyway, I need to get a hold of the fastners/clips used to hold the chrome moulding to the roof gutter. I've looked at many websites selling fastners and even though about using a Ford or Holden or whatever similar/equivalent. Appreciate if anybody knows where to get these clips from.
  11. I would just like to say thanks to everybody who responded.I found the contributions very interesting. I guess like all of you know, there's plenty of material on Fords and Holdens racing in Australia, but for Toyota's and other Japanese brands its all a bit underground. I've had the fortune of having good conversation with Corona GT fans - they know this too. The era of the Celica, I assume, also came into play and the Corolla was overlooked for racing by then (little bit like the Torana - Monaro dynamic [but you wouldn't think so if you take a look at Touring Car Masters where there is way more Monaro's than what competed when they were new!!]). Does anybody have the "know" on why AMI got disqualified in the KE10 era? Thought also worth mentioning that I am having a KE17 Group Nc race car built. My interest in the subsequent models and their racing history is that I'm already thinking about the next project... Many thanks.
  12. Just wondering if anybody out there is the "full bottle" on the race history of KE20 and KE25's in local competition? I'm interested to know where and when these cars, if they did at all, raced in production classes. Also interested to know/learn more about the Trueno and Levin variants history in Australia - did we get them as factory imports? Sorry if it all sounds a bit naive, but keen to learn.
