  1. Thanks :) I love this red color too!
  2. What if you add a simple rear strut bar then? Is that enough "strenghtening" or does it just make it worse? Weld it to clamp on to a bigger area around the strut tower?
  3. I'll add a few more since i was waxing it this evening :) I'm still gonna clean the interior some more but that'll be some other day. It is fairly decent but nowhere near perfect.
  4. Hello again. Took some pictures today as i washed the car so i'll put them up here :) Not driving the car now during summertime cause i have the other car for that, so the Corolla just stands still. I'm gonna put some wax on it today so it doesn't look totally horrible from all the leafs and whatnot that get stuck on it. Engine and everything is running tip top as far as i can tell. I start it once in a while and drive a few kilometers to keep everything going. I still don't know what to do with the car if i'm gonna spend some cash on it or just leave it stock. Winter tires on in July! :D
  5. This is a very cool looking car! Great build :)
  6. My dad who understands the points gap stuff a bit more did set it up somewhat before winter time, but it's probably not perfect. I'm running semi-synthetic 10W-40 oil in the engine, was mainly bought cause it was cheap.I haven't touched the gearbox oil so god knows what's in there :D But it shifts without any problems and if it works in -25 degrees what more can you ask.
  7. It's been freaking cold here for a few days now. It's currently about -27 degrees. I had the Corolla parked at work for a few days and on wednesday i had to start it in -22 degrees to get home. And as i've written it's notably hard to get going when cold but the battery stood with me for quite a while. I was expecting it to be completely dead at a few turn overs but it wasn't :) Nonetheless it wasn't enough and it finally gave up but we had other company cars (2010 Hiace) around and some jumper cables so then it hopped back to life :) Was also funny when it first started and i let go of the clutch it stopped cause of the heavy resistance of it alone :D Poor 4K's :rolls:
  8. Great looking car and a fast one at that! http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=orP1E-OKI9k
  9. Nice looking 2 door there! I have one too, in Finland :) Also been thinking of some coilovers or just general upgrading of the suspension but like you i'm not quite there yet with all the info on the Toyotas. It's so much to learn!
  10. It's just so easy to have fun in the snow :) You really should try it someday.
  11. Well it's only about -6ÂșC now so its not that bad :P
  12. Took a picture today so i might aswell upload it :D The 65 horses really is enough for drifting in the snow. Mostly you need to be in 2nd gear tho but it works if you got enough revs on and hit 3rd :D And i don't really feel the need for a LSD either cause it rarely spins one wheel only, only in 1st gear when going slow. As soon as you get 2nd the back end loosens and you can do whatever you want to with it :D
  13. So you're saying the 4K eats oil if it's too thin/thick?
  14. Right, small update. I've looked under the car and as far as i can tell everything seemed fine exept for the rubber bushing support that the driveshaft goes through under the middle of the car. It seemed dry and made a "dry rubber, cracking" sound when moving it. You could move it a cm or 2 back and fourth, but the driveshaft wasn't really loose. Could this be related to the issue? To me it seems a bit too small of a problem to cause the vibrations, but i don't know....
  15. There are still a few bits and pieces here and there that i still want to make the interior even better. And I'm missing the big engines aswell :D I did see a complete set if 14" chrome rims with tires (on an old Celica) for sale this past summer that i almost bought, but since i had/have no plans on driving this car in the summertime i just couldn't buy them. It'd be a shame to destroy rare vintage chrome rims in winter conditions too. Got some snow outside now so i've been out drifting a bit once in a while :D
