  1. COMMIT PEOPLE... if I'm coming up to lights and to fast I say 3 second rule before other lights change and commit. Pump the right foot and go and sucks as all the insurance places say u hit them so u pay. SUCKS.

This happened to a friend of mine had the nicest WB holden ute V8 all done up yada yada. So a little old lady was driving on high way and just after a merge where my friend got on she decided to all of a sudden apply her brakes hard and my friend just merged onto the highway and since he was speeding up quickly couldn't stop after he slipped in behind her and he in turn hit her then a semi truck couldn't stop and went into him writing off the car. His ute since he runs his own business was full of tools so it had about a tonne of weight in it and it also wrote her car off but it put him out of business for a while while he had to get another ute. Lucky he was ok but the ute was about the length of a Mazda 121 bubble after it was all over.

Similar thing happened to me but I was reversed into and didn't have to pay so I got a KE55 bonnet on my car now. So one good thing came from my crash. But it was crap not having a car for a while to get around.

  2. Hi,

Tacho is it after market in box with instructions?

If so follow them. But if not tachos run a wire to the ignition coil and then they are just a simple frequency counter that counts the pulsing coil and then gives you a rev reading so just wire it to your coil. EASY.

My corolla has a lot of lose ends in wire as I believe it was one loom for all so the loose ends were where stuff is meant to go but my car never received those parts from factory. But in my KE70 when I looked behind the dash I could never see wires for a tacho behind my clock. But the wires you found if you know they are the tacho wires from say a car manual and are lose just look at the diagram in your manual and it should have the colour of the wire and where it went on the tacho. But my bet is red is for tacho power...lol But pop your bonnet look at the wires on your ignition coil if one is green or brown and goes back to the fire wall it will be the signal wire and the 3rd one left will be the earth/negative. easy

  3. Hi,

Jip where abouts is this kelly wrecker? Sounds interesting.

Also do you know if thye have any of those under the glove box trays for a KE30? also they have many good KE30 bits to grab?

But at the wreckers once I saw they had a stage one fan off a TF-30 jet engine used in the F-111. And well I just wonder how they got it as mmmm people arent meant to have them..lol

  6. Hi,

don't know how hard my 3K has rev trev as I have no tacho. But too quick you said ur tacho is done bodgerly if it is on the coil and held firm with no other wires crossed can't see why even if it looked messy isnt readign the right RPM unless gauge is out or shit it's self..lol

  7. Wait...you run 110psi of oil through your turbo?

Yes I run 110PSI through my turbo but I have since dropped it back to about 90-100 for faster spool up. But lets just say my turbo isnt in a car..lol

And I was always told by turbo shops for every PSI of boost run 2PSI of oil pressure so for 30PSI turbo pressure run 60PSI oil pressure and I run 35PSI+ at high temps and a lot hotter I also need added oil for cooling.

As in a turbo bearing the oil does funny things and in all the twists and tuns yes can increase pressure as I have a report laying around on it some where.lol

  8. Hi,

Got a photo of the webber now. It is a down draft so will bolt on to standard manifold.

But when installing on my car might sound silly but can i hook a KE30 polution system into a webber? I know i can on carbon canister and the vac line to dissy butis that it?

Also below is a pic of the webber with a line plug can anyone tell me where this line goes?

  9. Hi,

Just been cleaning up my 4K slowly still getting ready to put it into my KE30 and I noticed the top radiator hose mount on the motor is different.

On my KE30 3K motor it has a switch on the housing with two lines running to it that are vacuum lines. And one goes to the carby and other to the dissy. Then next to it is a taped hole that is blocked off right now with a plug. See photo below.

    post-1811-1159756320_thumb.jpg

On the 4K I have from a KE70 on it's housing it has just one hole and in it is like a temp switch of some sort and nothing else. But on the other side it has the temp prob for the water temp same as the 3K in the KE30 so I know this switch on the top is not for temp but what? See photo below to compare it?

    post-1811-1159756399_thumb.jpg

So just wondering does anyone know what the switch in the 3K does with the vacuum lines and the switch in the 4K?

Also when doing the engine change to save rewiring I'm using my old alternator and other parts so should it be advisable to use the thermostat housing from the 3K on the 4K?

  10. LOL only if your caught.

When ever it starts to go nuts I slow down a bit and turn it off as I mount it under dash and hey since it off they can't detect you have it and you got warning about there radar. easy.

The law that says you can't have them is under the one where it is a device interfearing with there jop...pfff If anything place fake signal generators about and let people use them then there useless and slow you down..lol

The law is your aloud to own one but not use one go figure. And hey latest brisbane car sound catalouge had one on back for $168 on sale so you can buy them off the shelf but it was a boring single band model mine does two and well picking one like this up is rare as ive only seen one other like mine was on a web page in the USA but.

  11. Ok well for added power to the 4K I'm getting better parts for it slowly on a tight as budget so I'm planing to get extractors etc soon. So any difference is better than none.

The webber tell you the truth I havent seen it was in the car other day and he said it was for sale and car was going with it on. He said soon as he fits his 4age into the KE70 I can have it so I know it works but havent seen it. But I'm going to have a closer look at it tomorrow so I can post pics and info then.

  12. Hi,

I have decided to part with my in car radar detector. Runs on 12V has flashing light or beeping noise or both for warning as you get closer to radar beeping gets louder works for X and K band and is made by uniden and its model number is RD9

Is small as to about size of a bank card.

    Pics below:

    Price $50

  13. BTW,

If you run cam webber and no extractors I am pretty sure the exhaust can't get out so puts to much back pressure on the motor and forces clean air fuel oout the top of carby and in worse case car wont run.

Simple answer cam will let more air in so u need to get it out faster than before and stock exhaust well it is a big small to shift any extra air.

  14. Hi,

Well the webber I picked up came off a wrecked KE70 so I grabbed manifold, webber and adaptor plate and lines. So Hoping it will bolt into my KE30. But I wannaa keep the polution gerar as on a KE30 all it really is is the carbon canisster to get fuel fuems back to tank and the oil fume line back into the inlet. Ill see what I can do in the way of rigging it up. As I have to use car for a daily driver but want more omph from the 4K so got the webber. So want to keep polution gear on it just so if were ever pulled over it is there to say.

  15. Hi,

Ok so I can install the carby with no extractors good.

With the adaptor plate I talked to the guy this morning and it comes with one so that should be no worries.

Now for the polution system does it go into the carby at all in the KE30?

And can't the webbers take a polution system as they were pre 19XX so they never needed it?

  16. Hi,

Just wanting to know if you run a webber on a 4K motor that is bog stock will I need to also run a set of extractors?

Also what will it take to fit the webber? Is it as simple as an adaptor plate? I was looking around at photos here but it seems there are a few types of webbers so what parts are needed for what type of webber?

And last of all I am planing to put this 4K inot a KE30 rolla. After I install the webber will the pollution gear fit back on or how should I go about running the carbon canister etc? And if I can use the polution gear is it lefal to run a webber with out it in a KE30?

  17. Hi,

With those turbo fittings some one wanted info about turbos in a certain rage will have the same bearing housing size so the oil fittings and snail shell housings will fit it. So all you need to do is go to a turbo shop as for an oil fitting off any turbo with that size bearing housing. As turbos come with a bearing housing up to a certain compressor size when the comp gets to big for thrust bearing to handle they go to larger bearing housing with bigger bearing then repeat.

For a turbo I have with a small 3 inch compressor inlet diameter I have the mid sized compressor for my bearing housing so I use a few different parts on mine eg oil drain as on some applications the oil drain for my housing had a few neat tight bends it in and saved me bending it to fit the oil lines. So I bough it and not the original to fit.

Also for the oil inlet my turbo had a BSP thread so go to ur local nuts and bolts and get a 1$ fitting to fit. I do this run 110PSI turbo oil pressure no leaks and a LOT cheaper than the fitting from mack or someone..lol

  18. Well all they need to do know is strap a reheat (afterburner) to the back of the GT's and I recon this thing could smash glass windows from al the noise.

As standing next to a running GT isnt to bad but standing next to a GT running 100% reheat trust me noise level increases 10 fold..lol

  19. Hi,

With led's they are 1.5V BUT

If you pull off the bottom of the ones at dick smith you will notice a thing called a RESISTOR.....

These things are easy to do at home but for a quick way get eh pre made ones there cheap and done for you no etching boards and all that.

Also avoid the super cheap ones. Was comparing them the other day and the super cheap one its interior LED light has 3 LEDs in it for a cost of $3 more than dick smith and the dick smith one has 6 LED's in it so go figure. So no I agree use dick smith ones but all the LED's are 1.5V.
