  1. Cheers Banjo and altezzaclub. It does have a old fuel pump. So we are going to have a look at it. We know points aren't sparking 100% of the time. They are sparking 90% of the time. So it could be spark or the fuel pump. It has done it with multiple carby's so we will have a look today to see. It does also run very rich. So we will be having a look today and ill let you all know how we go. Cheers 79rolla
  2. Hey guys and girls. Just wondering if any one has any idea as to why my 79 ke55 shuts off under braking. Its under moderate to hard braking it cuts out. Light braking its fine and doesnt cut out. But moderate to hard braking it does. Doesn't matter if your on the clutch or not. It cuts out. Its done this with multiple Carby's now. Good and bad ones. But i don't know what it could be so would like some help on finding the problem. It is also a pain to restart. It will just sit there fast winding. It will take about 5 pumps of the pedal to restart if not more. Cheers 79rolla
  3. Cheers banjo and altezzaclub. The only thing that has been changed that I know of is the wheels, which i changed my self. It went from a 155/80/13 to a 205/60/13 tire. Thats all thats changed that I know of. Its still got the factory auto diff though. So I'm thinking it could be that throwing it out but I don't know. But I will have a look for damage on the speedo cable. Cheers 79rolla
  4. Sorry for the very late reply banjo. Jave had many other things to fix so i forgot about it. But i Have pulled the dash apart multiple times and it doesnt seem discoloured or broken at all. I'm thinking it could also be the blue sheet on the cluster as it only gets voltage when the regulator is in just the right spot, as it has to be touching it just right for it to work. Also I have another question fkr you. Do you know whether between having a 5 speed gearbox, 4 speed speedo cable, and 3 speed auto cluster whether that may put the speedo out over 60kmh. I'm asking this as my speedo is out but only over 60. 100kmh by speedo is about 85kmh and 120kmh by speedo is about 100kmh. Cheers 79rolla
  5. Thanks altezzaclub Its really only when cold outside. Like today its about 20c and its fine. But i will let it cool and see what its like later. Cheers 79rolla
  6. With the battery connected and car running it charging at 13.8v with both terminals off battery while running its about 16v. If i can't fix it soon I'm going to just get an after market one and find a place to mount it. Cheers 79rolla
  7. Hey mate so it wasnt connected to the sender when I measured it. But Just checked now and still no change in it working. Car is about 1/2 full at the moment. And the temp sender is disconnected and has been for a while. But with the fuel sender wire not connected it only reads the 9v other wise with connected only 5v. So I'm going to try the reg but ill see how it goes and update you later.. Cheers 79rolla
  8. Battery went flat yesterday with key on but I will mate. Cheers 79rolla
  9. Yeah mate. I know that my alternator isnt good as it charges at 16v at the moment Cheers 79rolla
  10. So I'm getting 9v at the wire for the sender. Is that right? Thats at the fuel tank itself. Or do I have other problems? Cheers 79rolla
  11. So i have the 10v at where is shows that it should on the cluster. At this point I'm going through ground wires, but not 100% sure where they all are and if that may be the problem. Cheers 79rolla
  12. Thanks altezzaclub. Just pulled the plugs yesterday amd 2 were a little white or white ish. With 1 grey and 1 covered in oil. Timing isnt see 100%, it is just set by eye. Ive changed the plugs twice in the month of may, due to the first time a similar ish problem with misfiring but it was when it was warmed up. And that time was just a fouled plug. But changed them yesterday and they weren't fouled at all. I can confirm that the ignition condenser isnt connected and never has been with this engine. (Engine been in 18 months) and it never acted up with it disconnected. Anyways, which side does it connect to? The positive side of coil or negative? Cheers 79rolla
  13. Umm so i'm getting -61ohms at the cluster. Yes I'm using a cheap multimeter but -61 doesnt seme right. What should it be at? 100? The tank is probably about half to 3 quarters full. Also the gauge only moves with a ground wire straight to sender. Cheers 79rolla
  14. This is what the back of my cluster looks like. 1 other question for you banjo, would you know why it only sometimes gets power? Cheers 79rolla
  15. No no sorry banjo. Didn't mean to repost. I was trying to get back to the post. It has helped me out mate. Cheers 79rolla
