  1. Hi everyone i have a spare R31 driveline sitting around and I'm considering slammin it into my AE71 :y: any thoughts people
  2. Here it goes... :y: You need a cross member out of an RX3 $150-$200 S2-3 12a and box about $1100 Custom tail shaft $250-$300 T series diff about $300 shop around and get a clean one custom G/Box X member around $80 bigger radiator $300-$500 depends how nice ya want true a lil massageing to the trans tunnel but not too much they are both small cars and thats not including brakes and new struts it's a lot of work but well worth it
  3. Hi everyone i was just wondering if anyone here could help me out, i have always wondered exactly what it is they do to a turbo to make it a "high flow" i have googled and googled and can't find anything on how to or even just what it details.... hope someone can help me out :P
  4. I have a great idea for you... take it to a qualified mechanic :locked:
  5. blah blah blah you need a whole bunch of patientce to work on a corolla :locked: :D
  6. I'm afraid your wrong my friend 30% is the most you should lose and the average is qround 25% depending on the box and diff you have etc... :P On a seperate note.. And lets not forget our good friend traction  if you wan2 lose a lil traction skinny's AREN'T safe you still need a lil rubber to do it safely tubbing is no longer legal on a street car anywhere... except maybe QLD lol
  7. Indeed still doing another one at the moment with an 808 wagon ;) but workshop time is a little harder to come by these days lol thats recieving a S513bT matching box etc :P That 12a turbo setup sounds ideal for ya benny you should look into it depending on what series rx7 it's out of rolla13bt??? :P the series 3 is the best 12aT of course, that in mind you are still going to need to do something about a diff... Cut and shut 9" can be picked up in melb for about $2500 brand new ready to bolt in, they may even be a little cheaper these days lol (I know Ouch expensive :P but that will get you safely to around 8sec qtr miles without needing a thing :P ).
  8. why bother with AE86 suspension when i hear that S13 nissan style coilovers will bolt straight into an AE71 with very little trouble :P
  9. You lose 30% of power through the driveline :P that would make a 130hp engine just over 90hp at the wheels not 100 lol
  10. Henry you are a very smart man :P listen to him, rotarys are extremely fun to drive, not a PIG like some of these people seem to think... however anything with high RWKW is not going to be easy to drive unless you go all out and do suspension and brakes etc... You need an extension housing for the gearbox though as they leave the shifter very far forward, and depending on your driving style can be quite awkward to shift  It should be kept in mind however that rotarys are NEVER! any good for someone on a small budget as they are a small capacity motor that can run quite efficiently and reliably on low revs and bang for buck can't be beaten... BUT ask anyone who drives a rotary and they will tell you, you NEVER want to keep ya foot off the gas (cos it's just so fun), and they are REALLY complicated and expensive to rebuild... At the end of the day it's a matter of how much you are willing to spend MAINTAINING your car, not just converting the engine as the list of things to do never ends once you start going for over 120kw at the wheels.... Ausrotary.com is an excellent site for any questions you have for the rotary community however you have a 30 day period before you can post on that site :y: Good luck buddy :D P.S. if you want the wheels to go round and round why use a motor that goes up and down  lol
  11. Surely a one way valve on a pressure set spring would not be too hard to set up as a bypass valve for the SC... Ya know like getting a spring that collapses at any pressure higher than say 1-1.5psi and fitting it like a waste gate before the SC intake... i know it sounds fairly simple and mechanical but it should be fairly effective as a bypass valve being as a lengthened spring has flex for the variation in pressure and open amount you want...? :P
  12. One more thing lol :P A bosch 910 is not a VL turbo pump jordan  And it is worth remembering that 35yrs ago the NA 10a (thats a 1ltr rotary) RX3 was running low 16's down the qtr mile factory with an open wheel diff :y: thats an 800kg car with a motor that had approx 90kw at the wheels :D And They sound waaaaaay cooler than a piston motor does too!!!!
  13. Oh and you all seem to be forgetting one thing... The diff would hold up for a lil longer with the carby fed rotary... you'd be lucky to get a burnout out of it with A turbo anything lol so there is another 1200-3000 on a differential thats aint gona break every 5 min :P
  14. Oh and VL turbo fuel pump will run either conversion and they are around $40 or a bosch 910 can usually be picked up on ebay for around $150
