  1. pics?

Not sure how well these will come out, but they are 'period' shots. If you click on the actual photo, they show larger.

If you look close, you can see the tacho on the inside shot despite reflection from the window. Big mother of a thing. Note the bullet style side mirror? This is an SL (from other photo's) by the way

    Handsome young fellow wasn't he........

  2. I suspect you are referring to Tayell Automotive.

    From the FAQ

    "Limited Slip (without changing housing)

Yes, there is a limited slip center that bolts into a Corolla housing, they were used in American KP Starlets. Sometimes you can find them in 4.1 or 4.3 ratio, more often than not they are the ridiculously low 2.928. Option1Garage on the Gold Coast import these for around $880. There are also people who "make" a sortof limited slip conversion, one such company in America is Phantom Grip. Tayell Automotive in Bentleigh East (Vic) advertise a similar service for around $250."

  3. The AE86 one is roughly 100 pages. But it is only a photocopy and the photos have not come up so good.

If you are interested, I could look into scanning it.

When I scanned up the Toyota factory 4AGE Electrical Diagnosis Manual plus EWD books for Euro/Aus and also the USDM book, (hosted on aeu86.org) some c*$t in the US started selling the exact scan (with my annotations) on US ebay!

    Not happy.

Try to help people out and someone ends up charging people for the info you worked to provide for free. Take a more jaundiced view after that.

  4. They are always good at the blow off there.

I'll go back with the part numbers. Curious to see if they have the c pillar exterior vents, front guard garnish's (late) and a 74 grille badge.

Would be very surprised, but you never know. Will also go see the guy at Camberwell instead who has been quite helpful previously.

  5. Out of interest, popped into Melb City Toyota today to enquire about a few exterior trim bits for the KE25. Believe it or not, the EPC only goes as far back as KE30 series. The parts guy denies that they even keep the fiche for Ke2x anymore. Maybe he was to lazy to dig out the microfiche reader. Supposedly some dealers still do. I think I got the 'f@$k off it's too hard' response

However I may be able to order parts off my USDM fiche if I take them the part numbers..... although probably no longer available.

Must say though, my previous experience at Melb City with AE86 parts and amazingly on two separate occasions when buying new cars led me to expect this response, unfortunately they are close to work.

I think in future I will just go there to buy plugs and oil filters.....

  6. Well no, of course the big axles are stronger. But then stronger is all relative and it depends on the amount of abuse you intend giving it. Disc brake rear ends are pretty pricey and you are unlikely to know whether it is a small or large axle unit till you pull the centre out. As mentioned, the large axles are very hard to find and the tercel ones are not a direct replacement. Of course the centre you get needs to match the axles in size. These large axle T series rear ends are only found in late AE86's never delivered in Australia.

If you are concerned, you can always spend the money on the hiace conversion at the added cost of extra weight.

Otherwise you could bolt in a T18 rear end which will be fine for width (don't forget to factor this into your thinking), and axles are available fairly easily, plus a T series LSD will bolt in.

  7. I run a RA23 T series diff, with a trd 1 1/2 way LSD.

Cost of the diff and panhard rod: $140.

    The centre: $550.

The welding and cutting off of the original leaf spring mount onto the T series: A few hours work.

My mate made a Panhard rod setup on the car chassis, I think $150 or so.

Total cost around $850, with bushes.

NOTE: I run TE27 flares, and 14x6 mags with 185/60 tires. They fit the guards just perfect, about 15mm spacing from each flare/ innerguard.

Interesting. This was the conclusion I had come to for my KE25 which would run exactly the same set up except I will likely run 13 x 6's. What offset are your wheel? I was thinking I would still need to cut the diff down.

  8. I think they may have changed the rules to say you must have a NZ bank account.

No one over there seems to know what paypal is. An international money transfer is very expensive.

I have bought a few small things and sent cash in the post. One big thing that required a bank transfer was a painful process.

  9. I will be putting a 4AGE in my KE25 and plan to put a T series rear in it for various reasons (I have a shed load of AE86 stuff, centres, rear discs etc) plus PCD for wheels

I am thinking TA23, RA23 rather than TA22 due to axle strength /bearing size.

Has anyone else on here done this and has the extra width been problematic?

The car will have flares eventually but would be nice not to have to modify guards or shorten the differential. Have searched high and low and not found anything specific. I don't wish to go Nissan or any other manufacturer. I realise I need to take of the spring seats etc.

TA23/RA23 is I believe 1365mm drum to drum, and I am getting varying figures for an KE25. Unfortunately my car is very awkwardly placed to measure. does anyone have a diff out of a car that can be easily measured?

  10. It isn't that simple. What ECU are you running? If it is a standard ECU then it won't know the injectors have got bigger and therefore you will flood the engine as it will send pulses according to MAP etc assuming the injectors are 182cc. All you will do is wash your bores.

You also need to take into account what resistance the injectors are, high or low. Standard bigport are low impedence - around 2ish ohm, and from memory 3SGE are high - around 13 ohm. Your injector drivers can't cope with this.

However, if you are running an aftermarket ECU, things are different.

Having said all that, I am going to try some 225cc series 1 1GGTE low impedence injectors in my bigport running a standard Jap ECU and an old HKS F-con piggyback fuel computer.

  11. i believe this company is the one you're looking for parrot :fuzz: good to see you joined the right forums too :bash: this is who i'll be buying mine from when the ke20 gets its makeover

    dF

Hah! You can never be on too many forums........

That guy is a bit pricey compared to the Thai guys.

There is Lilavadee, boonjr21 and probably others and I would guess they are the same items as Phil's rotaries.
