Damn can't read the build thread as access to it is denied at my work :(
lol that's what I thought!!! - I'll take this any day over a FT86
This is on par with some greatest conversions I've seen (including a v12 Cobra with a giant wing - youtube it)
Freakin awesome

I think I might be going to bunnings tomorrow, brake line connectors are seized :|
Check this out:
I would love to build Maxi to race in this series.
EDIT: I don't think any of those cars were built utilising their local hardware stores lol :P

Air-compressor off, drilled the crap out of the bolt, then pulled the compressor towards me and it snapped off at the head - proves when all else fails get angry.
The correct powersteering belt is now on (Gates - 4PK925), First belt I've changed on my car myself, it's nice and firm - but not too firm ;)
What's next - brake lines, horn install, battery tie-down, alarm, horn and swap the steering wheel back to the stock one.
Wish list - coil-overs & complete suspension overhaul.
EDIT - Photo/Vids coming soon.

Funny enough as soon as I rounded it I thought of you when you rounded the one on the gearbox and the things you tried, I've got a file for tool chest.
I like the persistence, patience & beer technique :)
The family unit is keeping me really busy, when my baby is asleep for a couple of hours I slip away and do something to the car.

I haven't done anything with the Astra yet, still broken head gasket, sitting there all sad looking.
But, I did buy a power-steering - non aircon belt for the 4e from Autobahn (I went to supercheap and didn't get any service so I walked out ), the belt didn't fit so I have to go back and get it exchanged.
Attempted to get the aircon compressor off too - rounded the head of the last bolt holding it on, that it was it for the night.
Here is a updated pic when I flushed the radiator, you can see all the brown coloured rust :/ that came out.

Thanks Michael :)

Hey Phil, what kind of front splitter(? black spoiler thing on the bottom of the front of the car) - is that? where did you get it? (pondering if it would look good or crap on my rolla (EDIT: if it would look as good as yours I mean!))
-
This is awesome, I love it! Awesome photo too.
What kind of regio plates are they? Rally-Rego?
-
Looking forward to your posts, can't wait to see it on the road.

Very cool, you could go into production of these and become a millionaire!
-
Yeh same +1, looks good and keeps with the red/black theme, matches the black strip on the bumper and window surround.
-
This is a quality build! Nice work.
P.s: I like your man cave.
-
Too bad about the race car ;(
Paint is coming up really nicely.
-
Very cool little Te38 are you going to restore it or do it up in a particular style?, also some awesome roads out your way (I drove from Vegas to Grand Canyon then to Phenoix via Sedona a couple years back)
-
LOL !
Thanks Reed.
I'm going to fix the Astra first, then get back to Maxi soon.
-
Glad I read the edited version, congratulations to you & your wife Tom! Hope everyone is safe, happy & healthy. Your excuse for not working on the car beats anything I can come up with! :laff:
Congrats to you and your wife Tom!

EDITED -
For xmas my lovely wife bought some braided brake lines for me .... Just havnt had the time to put them on, or even a test fit!
Going to have to work on my Maxi soon as it's going to be passed down to my beautiful daughter - hence no real updates lately - been kinda busy getting ready for my little one :)
Latest edition to my family and my wifes and my first child-
So, I might have another 10yrs to fix Maxi ;)
-
All the best with the swap ;)
-
I'm thinking RWD or AWD, turbo charged and 4cyl?
or is the next race car the other Rolla you purchased?
It's a secret isn't it?
-
That's what she said...
I'm so happy you said that lol
Got to love the office :P

That's the dream build - box Lancia Delta Intergrale guards, AWD GT4 setup, 3SGTE pumping out 320KW, stripped out and strengthened completely custom.
Now to win lotto OR If anyone wants to sponsor me? ;)
If your wondering would this even be possible? and how would it look like? here is a little youtube clip of something very very close to what I would love to achieve:
