  1. ** edit** this post is in reference to photo of new lamps installed......6 pages ago ....damn phone! (ps: car looks fantastic!)

I saw a rally car the other day with all his lamps mounted on a single roof rack, not sure how it was connected to the loom but seemed like a great idea as putting them on and off would be relatively fast.

    What do you think?

When the lights are installed on the front do they cut airflow to the radiator?

  2. I made a tiny bit of progress tonight, I made a adjustable bonnet latch tensioner (made from bolts, washers and nuts - technical hey :P ) and managed to get the bonnet to lock!

The situation arose after trimming the bottom radiator support and removing a bracket that bolted between top and bottom radiator supports and fitting the intercooler in its place.

Basically the bracket prevented flex in the bonnet latch, once removed the top radiator support would flex when trying to close the bonnet preventing it from locking.

Due to the position of the bonnet latch and lack of areas to fit in a bar or alternative bracket from top & bottom radiator supports, the most viable option was to put down-ward force onto the top of the intercooler from the bonnet latch.

    Problems,

The intercooler is made from a soft alloy and susceptible to bending and scratching very easily

solution, alloy bar placed directly under the bolt to destribute the downward force onto a greater area than just one small spot, now all I need to do is fix the alloy plate and bolt together.

    Pics at a later stage

Things still on my To-Do list:

    Remove air-con condensor

Buy non aircon powersteering belt (EP91 - anyone know the part number?)

Replace all brake lines (looking at the HELS range seems best option as ADR approved)

Get a horn button (or new wheel with one included)

    Secure the exhaust correctly

    2 x new tyers

    Put the horn back in

    Safety certificate

    Rego.

There is a dream list but what's the point eh?

  3. Not yet mate, its still in brisbane where i left it in january unfortunately. I'm moving to Perth in November so i figured i'd move it just the once. Really glad you're getting along with yours. And the garage/workspace situation looks considerably better than when I dropped off the parts car last year.

Perth hey, that's were my 3ETE ended up, if you come across it send it back! :)

The Garage is awesome, I can't tell you how much I love having a garage ...beats rolling around in dirt with spiders and god knows what else cramped under a house..

    Getting there Tom!!

Finally saw one of these in the flesh yesterday, funky looking little car... i like it :D

It's different, the looks of the GP ummm you get use to it after a while.. however, 4 wheel disc's, factory turbo, 2door, light weight... it's a good base.

  4. Thanks Chris, Phil, Trev.

Trev, I haven't forgotten, just trying to do stuff myself.. hands on learning, I'll have to check out your new beast soon.

I can't wait to get rego and do some mountain runs, I'm spending to much time watching people do stuff I want to do on youtube...

  5. A little update, I've been tinkering with the brakes, as one of rear calipers isn't working, basically getting no fluid out of bleed nozzle.

A couple of little things needed before road-worthy certificate and then I'll be on the road again, looking forward to getting the car finished, and also over stupid flu season, seems like I've caught everything going around! (as in flu/colds etc not sexual transmitted diseases) :P

Thanks for the kind words guys, I figure after 12years of practice ....actually not going to go there lol

I can't wait to get the car going, not much to do now... tho I'm sorta stalling on it..

P.S: I love the pic ... it made me laugh out loud..

  7. I was meant to get an auto AE71 as the mrs car was going to be taken off the road for a freshen up but this came up cheap so I decided to get it and fix her car up over the xmas holidays.

    Basic run down:

AE71 cs-x, 281,000k's, full collection of log books (including the toyota phillips book) and receipts (last 10 years anyway.

    4a & T50.

13 x 6 -0 4 spoke wheels (not sure if dragway or not as I haven't looked) aswell as 4 stockies.

Cut springs as well as a spare stock set.

    Bunnings warehouse garden lip.

Has rust around the rear end, broken tail light and a missing gutter strip as well as a torn base on the drivers seat.

I fell asleep when I got home so only have these pics:

Rad car Trev! Congrats on the purchase, I can't wait to see this beast going!

  8. Hey guys, I haven't been on for a while, not much happening with my car at this time ... I've had some great news - I'm going to be a father!

So I've been working hard to fix up our home to sell so we can free up some money for when our baby arrives.

I'm a first time dad and super excited / proud! we had our first scan yesterday and everything looks good.

    :)

Anyhow, thought I'll share my news.

I've done a couple of little things on the car, oil change, clutch fluid change (clutch pops back up all the way now!) CT12 Turbo and FMIC.

I have a couple of little things to do yet.

  9. Look if it doesn't work out they can build it out around Mount Glorious ... actually just transform that whole road into massive Nurburgring style track... ahhh sorry day dreaming and getting off topic, congrats bro, looking forward to driving the track when it's done.

P.S: here's an idea, get into Politics, sounds like you get stuff done!

  10. Go to a truck parts place (we might be able to get them also), I had to get my reducers from cmmins years ago as no one else made the one I needed.

Hey Trev, thanks for the advice

  11. Hey Trev, 1 x 2.25 to 3" and 1 x 2" to 3" i think, still have the measure them up again, I was playing around with some of the bits I have, I think I could cut the ones I have and make spacers.

  12. I bought some 3" to 2.5" elbow reducers off ebay, turns out they don't fit onto the intercooler piping, In my late night confusion I bought the 2.5" instead of 2.25" .... which don't exist from anywhere I can see, so I'm pondering on redo'ing the intercooler piping bit by bit slowly with quality pipes off ebay.

OR buying a pipe bender and pipes and doing it myself.
