  1. Did you use the basic electrical connectors to get the knock sensor connected? If not, i'd give it a go, just ensure its crimped and soldered well. A good crimp may even eliminate the need for solder.

Yep, I used the basic connector, what I really need is a multi-meter! that way I know for sure what is working and what isn't.

I have just crimped it though, I'm not happy with the entire loom - I'm going to pull it out again and ensure every wire is correctly soldered.

How is the fuel in it, is it still fairly fresh?

Fuel is fresh, has a bit of a random miss, sorta sounds like a rally car so I really don't mind at the moment lol - but yeh like you said before- the engine really needs a good run after sitting around for so long.

    Yes it runs!!

Double check all your wiring on the knock sensor and if its earthed properly. Try fitting another one on if it doesnt fit, maybe a 4AGE knock sensor will fit? does the 4EFE have one? hope you get it sorted Tom!

I had a knock sensor problem in the past and it was just down to it not being plugged in properly and not earthed.

I read somewhere that the knock-sensor is the same on all models, but I don't know how that could be? wouldn't they be specific? but then again it's basically just telling the ECU stuff - and the ECU is calling the shots, hmmm wonder if I can pick one up from repco, then I'll just get the proper fitting one and rewire that plug back on.

How many wires did you're knock sensor have? I have another wire hanging around the back of the engine without a home back it's two black wires. the Knock sensor I have mine plugged into is a single black wire.

  2. awesome thanks Jacob, I was a bit lost on how it all worked, think I'm getting older and less computer savvy!

    I am a +1 for import monster

I like the service I receive and the website he has built to allow me to chase my dreams :)

"I love what you said - allow me to chase my dreams" - never stop chasing them!

  3. So the rolla now starts off the key, but i'm still getting the knock sensor code after wiring it up, also, turbo is no longer boosting and drivers side front shock is no longer functioning.

    1 step forward (car starts)

3 steps back (knock sensor, turbo, suspension)

ok - quick browse and found out it could be this:

    Symptom- Engine Knocking

    Possible Problems

    • Big end bearing

    • Main bearings

    • Thrust bearings

    • Cam followers

I have no idea what that means - but sounds like I need a rebuild?

  4. Your complete right that It does add up, basically all the car parts I've searched via Monster including shipping to Melb (not my door in Brisbane) comes in at around the same price I can get it here (once I find them).

Though I did find some ok things for sale on yahoo auctions.

I haven't been able to work out how Jessie gets a fee for his service? does he just take a cut or fixed fee? I checked FAQ and T&C - couldn't see it tho.

    Japlish is awesome - IE:

Doing, we answer in the range which is understood e.g., you verify in the acquaintance.

  5. About time this thing fired up! Progress, at last :)

    That.....is freaking awesome!

Congratulations on your progress man & good luck finding a solution to this one! :)

Thanks guys, how dodge would it be to use a simple connector like this:

Also, I found a cool pic which I thought I'll share, photo was taken on 1st May 2005

  6. Hey guys,

I re-wired the thermohousing sensors including the coolant plug - which was completely different from the 3ETE one, anyhow - car started on the first click with a dead battery on jump leads! How awesome is that!

So then I found another issue, 52 - knock sensor, now I'm a little stuck as I don't have a 4EFTE plug for knock sensor on my loom, and the 3ETE one doesn't fit it at all - I'm going to have to think of something to make it work.

  7. Given time alone with that Lotus, I would do some very, very dirty, nasty things to it.

I was doing some research on it, and the guy's alias is Ronin - youtube "Ronin's Lotus" etc and you'll find a bunch of videos on it, also apparently he has a thread on his lotus forums on how to build one just like it! now that's a true champion - sharing the information on how to build one on your own.

  8. Hey guys, thanks for replying,

I don't see the point in replacing perfectly good tow hooks which you know are legal for "racing" tow hooks in virtually the same place... Please tell me there's another reason besides aesthetics?

AFAIK you don't even need to replace the stock ones for most forms of motorsport.. Mates have never had an issue anyway, Put it that way.

It's not for aesthetics at all, I have two tow hooks, and both are extremely close to the intercooler outlets, I have trimmed the bottom radiator support back to be able to retain the front bumper and stock look, but I think it might come down to more trimming of the radiator support or the easy way out but removing the tow hooks.

I was planning to on getting one of the below pictured style of hooks and bolting it to where the original one is welded to but higher up where it's clear from obstructing anything.

I want to track the car on weekends and do club level motor-sport so I will need tow hooks for sure.

    Thank you for your advice.

^ I assume he means those flashy red "drift/ race" ones.. Like this i assume? But weld on

  9. Hey guys,

I need to relocate my tow hooks, is there some kind of issue in grinding them off?

I'm planning to get one of those racing type ring ones and bolt it to the same section as what the original tow hook is on, but at a higher point, the original tow hooks are in my way.

    Cheers,

    Tom.

  10. Ok I got three vids maybe you've seen them, maybe you haven't but there good so WATCH IT ANYWAY!!!

    Super Duper Toyota power!

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HmscSzFurwg&feature=related

Thanks heaps for sharing those videos, I'm not into drifting at all but I really enjoyed those clips, but mainly, the Lotus! omg, I'm in love with that car, I never thought it was possible for a 4cyl to sound like a Ferrari V8 until I saw that clip.

  11. That's Willis, have an open mind, but most importantly a skeptical mind - don't believe everything you hear and see - setup some cameras on the taps, places where stuff has happened before, and you never know - you might see something that you be able to explain with scientific mind. Or you might find your mates playing tricks on you, or neighbors etc. Also find out the history of the house.

P.S: Ben, it wasn't orbs lol, more color change in the shape of a person in front of the lens, I thought it could of been smear on the lens but it didn't appear in the next couple of photos, the camera was a high-end automatic and used on a auto setting by someone who isn't camera savy. But yeh - nothing that's concrete proof of the existence of spirits/ghosts.

  12. Hey guys,

Part of my uni course I need to talk to residential builders about different processes - such as timber selection for trusses, concrete mixtures, foundation types etc and get a letter or email from the person who is helping me stating they have done so.

My issues is that I don't know anyone in the construction industry at all, and I work from 8am to 5pm Monday to Friday full time.

So I'm hoping maybe there is someone on here who could help me out from time to time?

If you spare a couple of minutes, can you please PM me, or reply to this thread, I would extremely grateful.

    Thanks

    Tom.

  13. Setup a camera, time-lapse, you'll know for sure then.

Friend of mine came back from port arthur recently, she went to all the old jails and stuff and was showing me photos - in about 5 of them there were what looked like ghosts.

Or get in contact with your Buddhist or Taoist community, ask around and see if you can find someone who can connect to them (doubt you'll find anyone in Australia) - and they can tell you what the go is - but at the end of the day remember this, they can not hurt you.

  14. Rest would be the same, completely calcified.

I was up until 2am last night working on the car, thermohousing and each sensor, thermostat, coolant lines to throttle body all cleaned out, checked wiring, updated wiring connections on all thermohousing sensors, filled the car back up with water, re-charged battery and gave it another go - same old, same old.

I'm thinking it's faulty TPS or something related to air now, checked fuel, checked water, checked power, ... air is the one only left.

    Diagnostic test results -1sec blink 1sec gap 1sec blink 1.5/2sec gap 1sec blink 1sec gap 1sec blink - long gap - repeat.

I up loaded a youtube video of it - 4EFTE Diagnostic Result on GP Turbo

Anyhow, the car has been put away for now, University assignments and job application skills come first.

    EDIT -

Also here are some little things I've done lately:

    post-5-0-10454400-1335273025_thumb.jpg
