  1. Woot. Good times.... I know how you feel mate :glare:

thanks man, i need to have a good look at it tonight hopefully its not blown...

    Anyhow back to the rolla

  2. Attention has been diverted to my Astra it's overheating and sucking down over a litre of coolant a week... Needs a major service too timing belt and no doubt water pump replaced.

I think the job is a little bit over my head?? Wish i could do it myself to save some money

  3. Hey guys,

I'm fitting an intercooler to my rolla and I also want to keep the stock front end and street look without any intercooler / piping sticking out - in order to do this it looks like I have to cut the bottom radaitor support, now the question we hate ... is this legal? or am I going to expect trouble from the police / RTA?

From my research it appears ok as long as some kind of bracing exists.

Unfortunately I don't have a welder so i can't fabricate anything myself beside little metal brackets from alloy.

  4. I really have to get my arse in gear and the interweb connected at my new place, also motivation is down at the moment :(

    Things to do

    Swap intake manifold

    Disconnect and remove aircon

Start selling parts to save up for coilovers and rego

if anyone out there in interweb land requires a part for their el31/ep70/71/82/92 that i might have lying around lemme know...

  5. Thanks Trev, hopefully this darn heat goes away... and hopefully this heat goes back to the 24ish degrees ...

Pod is the one i found in the box.. not new but on the car ;)

  6. Yes to strut brace ... actually 3 more...

    Clues

    kyb

    no hole

    air

....... i put in lowered KYB suspension, EP82 Strut brace, pod air filter, replaced side mirror, and did a wheel rotation

next ...CT12/9 hybrid turbo, turbo back 3" exhaust, front mount and ditch air con.

  7. I tried with both 12mm & 7/16th (after filing), can't get a good swing at it due to crossmember & sump... no, I'm not dropping my sump! :P. Have seen a weird tool that's like a cross between a pipe wrench & a ring spanner, broke my last one so when I can be bothered again I'll get another. BT's had enough effort put into her for now.

Soak it in WD40 or something like it, if you can fit a 'o' ring spanner on it and use the end of the handle on the hammer tap away at it and it should come loose, alternatively the other method is to heat it up with a blow torch and depending on where it is you could get it red hot and attempt to reshape it but normally the heat will expand the metal and when it cools shouldn't be to many drama's getting it off (that's what I've read anyhow)

    EDIT: http://www.classic-car-magazine.co.uk/articles/how_to_remove_seized_nuts_bolts.html <-- Check this

  8. ^^^ :lolcry:

Shame to hear about things not quite going your way, I know the feeling. :( Maybe giving it a gentle tap with a hammer & a block of wood to loosen it?

Edit: Okay, so no hammer job, I forget bolts too!

Windscreens are a pain, I can recommend LOTS of the long, snap-off style blades for a stanley knife to cut through all the sealant from both sides to have some hope of pulling it out without breaking it.

lol I was just going to recline the drivers seats and give it a good kick, just like in the movies when the car is under water.... (the under water part was was plan b)

  9. Ahhhh manifold has 6 bolts, 4 up top and 2 below... and hitting it with a hammer will not help get it off when the two are still done up.

Good news nearly have all parts needed to start the 2012 rebuild

now how do i take wind screen off???

  10. Can't get the darn turbo off? Turbo is bolted to manifold, I've unbolted exhaust, unbolted manifold, and she's not moving....

Trev, no worries, I might save up and buy one or rent one, or my other idea is cut the front off and unbolt engine and drop it onto the ground and move it from there somehow...

  11. Loaded nearly all the parts into the car, time for a drop off o home and hide them from my wife so I don't get in trouble lol :P

hmmm cut the bottom out of a box and stick it over the parts and hope she never looks inside or moves it ... :hmm:

  12. If you need to borrow some tools then let me know.

Thanks Trev, well actually I do need to borrow some tools .. :hmm: .. would you have a engine crane lying around ... and maybe a ute lol :lolcry:

I went to that new Masters store around the corner and picked up a set of 22pc chrome spanners for 19 bucks, non chrome are 17... I'm yet to use them so not sure on quality and as the old saying goes, you get what you paid for.

    here are some progress pics:

  13. Thanks Justin :)

Progress made, KYB shockies and low springs now off parts car as well as exhaust and brake rotors and other stuff, my 14 spanner broke so that was basically the end of day.

  14. Went to Oxley wreckers looking for an 82 with a front lip but it is gone so I decided to go to Wacol to get a few things I needed, I found a brown dash top in excellent condition (no one had tried removing it the noob way) and a few other parts, I ended up with the following:

    Dashtop.

    LH mirror trim.

    Glove box.

    Stereo surround.

    LH speaker cover.

Walked up to the counter and there was a girl that served me:

    Me: just these parts.

    Her: 15 bucks.

    Me: 50 bucks?

Her: No, 15, would you of paid 50?

Me: Nah, thought I had to use my card.

f@$kING STEAL, went and got some black interior paint and painted the dash top and column surround like that of the twincams so it is looking a bit more cleaner inside.

    Nice buying Trev,

where abouts did you get interior paint from? sounds like the little rolla is getting some love recently, good stuff man.

  15. Hope you do, or a rolla with a 4e

I've been working on the parts car, stripping it bare to get mine road worthy, I've come to a bit of an issue, I can't get the darn bolts/nuts off the rear shockies ... rounded a couple of nuts trying :bash:

Once that's off, then I'm gong to work out how to get the engine out.

  16. Happy new year everyone .... Thank you all for your help and destractions but most of all support, we have a family of like minded people that i feel prevledged to be part of, all the best for all your endevours in 2012!

(huge thanks to Trev, Medicene Man and EL314agte for coming out to my place and giving me a hand with my rolla)

    Happy new year rollaclub family
