in here- http://www.rollaclub.com/board/?showtopic=27605 there is a weight figure somewhere, but it basically said that the V6 didnt weigh as much as first thought.

I can see that one! thats a good thing to know about going through google videos, knew they were conencted, but didnt know I could get one on the other. Thats not the video though, this thing was a single cab, small flatbed truck (think of a miniature flatbed tow truck type thing)

If its not super top secret, why the long design process on LHDs? Are you a new company trying to break into the market? or are you re-designing for better functionality and reliability? I know one thing though, Big toys are the most fun! I was down at Botany the other week driving round in a 50 tonne fork. (which was dwarfed by some of the mobile harbour cranes down there) We just downsized to 4.5litre 4 cylinders in our light trucks, used to used 6litre inline 6s (cummins 6BTs) but euro emmissions pushed us to change to the QSB4.5 which has a little less torque, but suprisingly similar outputs all round. -

what are you guys building? I know its mining related, but what field? I'm assuming with the amount of devel. work that its for underground mining and fairly high tech? so you guys are re-creating the wheel with engines? cummins no help? or are you running a self designed power plant? -
pillowy softness before painful death (I know, I know, airbags arent pillowy soft, they just look it) Chinese car manufacturers have been dodgy for a long time, even back to when they were making dodgy toyota rip offs. Youtube and ebay are the only things blocked here at work, you can look at anything else, you just can't watch funny videos or buy stuff...... But there is a video on there of a crash test of a chinese flatbed truck, only a little 2 tonner, carrying a single pallet of bricks and hitting a wall at like 30km/h. The cabine gets completely pressed to the wall, the diff comes half way down the truck, lots of bad stuff.

Ecotec ran alloy heads, the block was still cast. The new "alloytech" is all alloy (as the name says hey!) If you are running on dirt, you are going to need to weigh up how much power you can get to the ground, not to mention the pain in the arse of finding a decent running V6 manual to swap over (99% of the cheap engine/trans packages would be autos) The V6s arent exactly the biggest boat anchors, they aren't light, but fab some engine mounts to mount it as low and as far back as possible, and I don't see why it would be a massive drama for handling.

Id say, If it got to the point of GM falling over then GMH would be sold off. I read something on an american car forum that had GM cutting the pontiac (most models) and solstice (all together) lines as a cost cutting venture. They were commenting on how bad GM was doing, yet were pretty surprised when I mentioned that Holden was debuting a small, FWD concept and already has production plans for next year. GMH is still doing fine, but I was pondering who would buy out GMH if GM was to decide to sell it off. Id say there would be ample cause for the govt to buy the company outright as a method of securing the jobs and not degrading our economy any firther. (not that they would, they seem more interested in selling things then buying them these days) There was talk of a chinese company being interested in buying holden, I hope that doesnt follow through.

Depends where you live as to who you can get to do head work! everyone covered pretty much everything, but the more the merrier- with 11:1 comp, you would have to watch which fuels you are using, and have your cooling system up to scratch. we run 13:1 in the street stocker engine, and it only runs nice on aC10 blend that we buy directly from BP (and its not cheap!) anything else and it just pings its head off and runs like crap. running 10:1 in my weekender (wont mention torana, it seems to get people upset) and it is fine aslong as I'm pumping in fresh 98 octane and nothing else, I've been caught out in places where they only had normal unleaded (93 octane these days I think) and it was a shit to drive, ran like crap (my timing doesnt help, but thats another story) Is the motor stock apart from the camshaft, extractors, ignition and carby then? Id say you would be better off buying a new billet in a smaller size, putting that in your engine, and starting another build with the 608grind and spend time and money getting it up to par. (ie. like the others have said, big valves, big ports on the head, head/block decked forged internals etc etc)

What Your Spending Your Krudd Bonus On
orangeLJ replied to trav_555's topic in Rollaclub Social (Off-Topic)
I don't agree with it, But I can't exactly ring up and say "hey, take my $900 back and here is my ideas on the economy" so I suppose it will pay for one of two things a slab for the shed, or an addition to the deck, some pavers and some plumbing work in the house. (between the missus and myself we will get $1800) So I'm going to be putting it straight back into the pockets of the aussie workers, I figure its probably the best thing I can do with it. I got this in an email on monday- This year, taxpayers will receive an Economic Stimulus Payment. This is a very exciting new program to be explained using the Q and A format: Q. What is an Economic Stimulus Payment? A. It is money that the federal government will send to taxpayers. Q. Where will the government get this money? A. From taxpayers. Q. So the government is giving me back my own money? A. Only a smidgen. Q. What is the purpose of this payment? A. The plan is that you will use the money to purchase a high-definition TV set, thus stimulating the economy. Q. But isn't that stimulating the economy of China? A. Shut up. Below is some helpful advice on how to best help the Australian economy by spending your stimulus cheque wisely: If you spend that money at K-Mart, all the money will go to China. If you spend it on petrol it will go to the Arabs. If you purchase a computer it will go to India. If you purchase fruit and vegetables it will go to Mexico, Honduras, and Guatemala (unless you buy organic). If you buy a car it will go to Japan. If you purchase useless crap it will go to Taiwan. And none of it will help the Australian economy. We need to keep that money here in Australia. You can keep the money in Australia by spending it at garage sales, going to a football game, or tattoos, since those are the only businesses still remaining in Australia. -

for polished alloy and to some extent the polished steel, use Purple polish (available from most auto outlets) or mirrorfinish metal polish. Both contain products that help to stop the oxidising. (my wiper motor cover is also polished, only goes dull and crusty when it gets wet or I get lazy)

The commonwealth bank is giving me the shits right now. Parents are applying for a business loan to buy a franchise. I wrote a 50 page business plan, financial figures etc etc. Our business accountant went through it, told us he wouldnt have been so detailed and it was the best self (client) written one he had ever seen. They are buying an existing franchise so there is tonnes of financial data to prove its profitable, plus the fact the work comes direct from a multinational whitegoods supplier so it is never going to dry up. they didnt have enough equity in their house to put it as collateral, so my old mans, mum put her house down as collateral. so thats $300k as a back up on a 100k loan! But they are still f@$king them around, they want to see 10k in the bank account (which we listed when we thought we would have sold our family business) they want pay statements from my mum and Rays business statements... what a crock of shit.

nope. field mice. Better she caught them, then they get in the house. as a rule of thumb she is usually scared of anything larger (she got chased by the local flock of cockatoos) But If she was to kill something native (marsupial, mammal or reptile) Then she would become an indoor only cat. Closest thing to a native she almost got was a dove, stupid thing sat and watched her run across the road and didnt move. She launched at it, the dove flew away, I'm running after her to stop her, and she managed to get her paws onto it, pulled a few feathers, but it got away. I was just shocked that it was so dumb. Hey Lexxi, Could also be from your diet, something you are eating/drinking in small amounts or daily that is having the reaction. Have you changed your diet? been in contact with different grass or plants etc? itchy rashes suck, I was prescribed amoxicillan for tonsilitus when I actually had glandular + viral tonsilitus, the amoxicillan reacted with the glandular virus and I ended up with a closed throat and the itchiest rash I have ever had, all over my body. If it hangs round, might be worth going to a specialist for some allergy testing. -
:bash: not even going to go there.

I think the bandwagon is full, so why does everyone keep jumping on it to have a crack at lexxi? She said she doesnt give two shits what others do, and personally, I find it good to hear someone in highschool who actually thinks about what they are doing and isnt a derolict no hoper in the making. She is entitled to her opinion, just like Litteredspirit is entitled to his, but having a go at her because of her age is pretty stupid. Everyone is different, everyone has different experiences at different ages, for all you know she may be more worldly then all of you. (then again she may not be) To me, LRS's post sounded more like a "make drugs legal" speech than anything wise and poetic.... So why can't everyone just get over it all? Lexxi doesnt care what you do to your brain, lungs, liver etc etc. So why should you care that she chooses to keep hers clean?

bloody cat. She caught a mouse on monday night, I went to find her out that back at about 8pm, and here she is playing with something. went over and found her with a mouse, I grabbed her and she had the thing in her mouth, still kicking tail hanging out. Made her drop it, the thing had a broken back, back legs wernt working, it was just rolling around on the ground. Took elsie inside and then went out and put the mouse out of its misery.... not real fun (i don't mind dead mice, it was more the snapping its neck parts that wasnt fun, mice in mouse traps are fine) Then last night, cat wouldnt come inside on dark, dissappeared over the back fence into the reserve, its flogging down rain. long story short, went out with the torch and found her with another mouse, torn in half, she picked up the back end and ran away, leaving me with half a babyish mouse, guts hanging out etc etc. Wasnt happy about that. So she is getting locked up before dark now, we usually let her come in just after dark as she usually wanders in for dinner, but i don't like the idea of picking up mouse parts night after night, its just not that much fun.. I don't have a problem with dead animals, I think its more the fact that our little kitten is now a hunting machine, I could put up with lizards and crickets, but mice are a bit far! -
as rolla boy suggested (if you already havent) check the engine bay, I'm not 100% but I'm fairly sure there are a few rubber grommets on the DS side of the firewall. Have you been using the aircon? If not, I doubt it would be condensation from the air conditioner. does it leak if left out in the rain over night, or only when driving? Check the rear of the drivers gaurd (should be consealed by a plastic inner gaurd in there) and have a look for any leaks in behind the inner gaurd (the black plastic "shield") Could be the water being flicked up by the wheels when driving, then being blown behind the gaurd and into the footwell. Id be a bit worried about the fact the fuse box is behind the drivers kick panel, don't let it get too soggy.

maybe its microsoft attempting to get people off their asses and outside instead of sitting playing games on the telly  If it wasnt microsofts product, you would have a hard time understanding how they let it into the general public without proper fault testing etc... but then you look at every first edition windows OS and remember that they are made by the same people. 6 days till settlement! wooohoo! -

Flutter is for Vl turbos! only thing I can add other then that, is read into the problems some people on here have had with their sportivo turbos, the ECU one is a pretty good example of why you may be better off buying something else and going from there. -

*boom...booom...tish!* I spat water everywhere when I read that serpentine belt bit. hahaha. Its not exactly a small snake either! would make someone a few nice new wallets! A local bloke got bitten by a red belly black that he thought he had run over.... ended up being pissed off in his engine bay when he pulled up...

Getting your blacks is a good feeling hey. Got mine back in november. Its awesome to be able to knock back a beer and not be worried about driving or not. The morning after a big night is another benefit, you don't have to wait to drive "just in case" I know what you mean about the F3. it has an unposted limit of 130, its just the way it is for peak hour though/ -
You can however work out a payment plan. Contact the revenue office and organise an appointment and plead your financial case to them (with figures to back you up) I had a friend who was fined about 3k in one hit after being caught speeding. He took 3 years and payed it off over that term.
