The "omg Guess What Happened Today" Thread
orangeLJ replied to JiP's topic in Rollaclub Social (Off-Topic)
ouch! hope he lives! or else you might have to fight for your $50! haha. just kidding. A 9" angle grinder? to cut pipes under a car? moron deserves to get cut up then. If anything you would use a 4" grinder, most of the time, an oxy torch. working with any sort of grinder, wtih your arms in a raised position is never a really safe thing. And for exhausts, its always alot easier to remove the pipes to cut them (if it needs to be top knotch, for most cars its just an oxy it off on the car, then quick grind over with the air grinder, then a slap and tickle with the new pipe and welder) 9" grinders are banned on most construction sites these days due to accidents and injuries. -
What Is The Most Fun Legal Thing To Do On The Streets These Day
orangeLJ replied to TE278U's topic in Automotive Discussion
I always like to rev up two types of people... young, fresh P platers in overly riced up 4 cylinders (eg- excels with cannons and wings, barinas with mags and cannons, swifts, even the odd corolla, etc) Pull up beside them in the corolla or the torana, neutral it, couple revs, then watch them take off at a blistering rate of acceleration only to have to slam on the brakes as they hit the traffic that was about 20metres in front of them, then go cruising by in the other lane and give them a nice big cheeky smile and a wave on the way past putting along! Everyone seems to want to race me in camrys when I'm out in the torana, kind of a bit strange, but same thing goes, give it a rev at the lights, they take off with the customary tyre sqeel as they drop the clutch and the whole 10pounds of torque hits the front wheels..... well hey, makes me laugh! As already said though, cruises are always fun, freeway driving with some decent powered cars is good fun too, although slightly illegal, dropping to 70-80kays, then having a bit of a giddy up fest between all of you, back up to the speed limit (not in peak hour, or in any way that really holds other people up though) most fun things are illegal, but only if you get caught.... -

what grinds my gears today is the cost associated with anything medical! why does it cost so freaking much to have someone look at my feet. I know its not a pleasant job, But i need to go see a podiatrist as my knees and hips are getting royally rooted due to how bad my feet are, and Id like to be able to walk in 5 years time (could barely get out of bed on monday morning as the pain was so bad)

The "omg Guess What Happened Today" Thread

Ive wasted so much money on those stacker machines! arrrrrggggh! I get to the last line every dam time I play it (over and over and over again!) but never manage to get that final line! -
crank bolt is easy enough, socket, breaker bar, pipe if needed, apply pressure and have someone flick the key to turn the engine over.

You can opt to have your car repaired since their insurance is paying for it. They cannot force you to have your car "written off" if they were at fault. If the car is legitimately fixable (ie. can be put on the rack and straightened) then they have to pay for it. -
haha ^ i checked my BMI too... apparently at 90kgs and 178cm tall I'm obese! who wudda thunk it! even if I drop to 80 I'm still too fat according to it too.

This sort of shit grinds my gears! http://news.ninemsn.com.au/national/716402...t-myspace-party first off, I was under the impression to hold a part and willingly charge admission was against the law (not to mention mr tax man would love to have a chat!) they have no insurance, no building/fire inspections so therefore no fire escapes etc etc. Then the father has the hide to say that the coppers started the problems by trying to shut the party down! we have all been there, at the party when the coppers turn up and tell everyone to shutup or go home. But its only once the shoe is on the other foot you realise WHY they have to do so and the fact that unless all your neighbours are informed and ok with it, then its never going to go down well (much like dfunkts music loving feral neighbours.) to me, something with 200 people in attendance is never going to end well, either when the coppers break it up, or if they didnt, when too much grog and testosterone starts to fire up after midnight (witching hour) Hell, whats to bet the 14 year olds at the party were pissed as newts and half the girls were there to slut themselves around with older guys?

Should Street Racers Cars Be Crushed ?
orangeLJ replied to pnyk33's topic in Rollaclub Social (Off-Topic)
Thats the thing, most people wouldnt think of killing someone, they would simply be thinking of self preservation. No one here can really say they wouldnt try and run, you havent been in that situation (neither have I) of having your car on its final strike. I can however, honestly say, that the thought of doing a runner on the cops has crossed my mind when I thought I was completely screwed anyway. a little "theoretical" situation (wink wink)- When I first got my Ps I went flying past a copper sitting in a side street on the main road. I was in my torana and it was about 3am. I was doing WELL over the speed limit (stupidly over the 60kay speed limit, lets just say that I probably would have never gotten my licence back) I saw him react, and by the time I saw him pull out and start to come after me I was already a fair way down the road, I had foot burried on the accelerator and had turned off the main road before he could make enough distance up to see where I went, took all the back streets and whipped it straight into the shed, didnt drive it for over a month, was scared shitless. But i had possibly the worst reaction you could have to seeing a copper when doing something wrong, I kept going. Luckily for me, I was only a couple kays from home, and I got away with it. Now that wasnt the right thing to do, but it saved my licence and most likely my car (anyone who has been 17 knows that you are still worried about what your parents can do/take away) That was all I could think of. Ive been done for a few other things since then, never in my torana, but never anything quite that severe. Put someone in the same situation, 3rd strike, loves their car, open road etc etc. Its going to happen. -
Just had some friends up from Victoria, I couldnt believe how slow they drove all the time, When I asked Matt why he said all their main highways are 80kph due to roadworks, and that there are so many speedtraps, and camo wearing coppers that you can't speed anywhere! He made a good suggestion for the plates. They have "on the move" on them at the moment, he reckons it should be "on the move...at80kays"

Not worth much to me based on the state! if you were in NSW I would have taken it off your hands.

Should Street Racers Cars Be Crushed ?
orangeLJ replied to pnyk33's topic in Rollaclub Social (Off-Topic)
JiP got it in one with that post! Thats a very good point, Cops seem so quick to try and clear carparks of car gatherings. Back in the day when My older brother first got his licence, we used to hang out at terrigal beach carpark every thursday friday and saturday nights, there was the odd sqealing tyre when someone left, but that was it, the place was well lit, had ample room and fights and crap rarely happened (alchohol free zone and cop shop about 200m away) Because they had nothing to fine anyone for (we were just sitting around) they changed to ticketed parking, the general public complained, so they got rid of it and started fining everyone for loitering.... so we all moved to the haven, little less well lit, has a bigger carpark and a big circular 500m-1km road..... so what happened? burnouts, drifting, maccas tray fun, roof surfing anything and everything. then they shut that down, they cracked down on ilegal racing at the chittaway 1/4 mile, defected everyone that showed up at Newy foreshore, stop the illegal racing and gatherings on the island and basically stopped any sort of meeting of young people in cars (modified or not) Now the illegal racing was, well, illegal and semi-dangerous, not as bad as it always sounded (this was 6-8 years ago) The "hang-out" points were just good fun and places to chat. The older kids kept the younger dicks inline and there was a bit of a compromise between testosterone and freindship. So about 5 years ago it all disappeared. Try finding a group of decent young people in the streets, who you can just approach and chat to without getting bashed, stabbed or robbed. It just doesnt happen anymore, they stopped anything decent, so everyone is a seperatist now and no one has any respect for anyone or anything. maybe they all needed more wooden spooning as kids :P -
No upbringing is complete without a good smack on the arse. I'm sorry, but its the truth. It goes along with other things like the threats to wash your mouth out with soap (I tempted fate once and found out that mum was serious) or to wipe that smile off your face before I do it for you! lol. I'll never forget the day mum broke the wooden spoon on my backside, That was when she swapped to the plastic spatula, it would get a nice big whip on it and stung like hell. Eventually, once we got too tall to look down at and whack with the kitchen tools, mum took to the slapping! haha. Single mum for a while with two boys, she had to do something. then when my step dad came along, all he had to do was yell and it was scary enough, got into one major blue with him in the 11 years he has been with mum, and I came off second best (I was the one throwing punches, he just tried to restrain me! how that works I don't know!) All this "love your children more rah rah rah" "they are sensitive beings" bullshit is exactly that.... BULLSHIT. Most of it is thought up by useless hippy bastards from bumf@$ker Idaho who have probably had no children or had the utter shit kicked out of them when they were younger, sure, thats not cool, but there is a big difference between a clip under the ear and a beating. To them, I say, Toughen up princess, find something else to whinge about, let people discipline their kids how they see fit. don't get me started on parents that don't discipline their kids and let the little f@$kers run wild! I could rant all *** day.

Ive seen it happen to cars that have gone to play at powercruise and try their luck a few times, not to mention a few friends with RWD cars that like to dick about on the streets
-
I copped the wooden spoon, the plastic spatula and the backhand from mum when I was growing up, its part of the reason I turned out with morales and a bit of self worth and respect for others.
-
also need to remember that pulling a std cable hand brake up in most standard cars will eventually rip it out of the floor...

going to try and lose 10-15kgs (not really that fat, just grown a bit of a gut of late) Move into the new house, get it set up the way we want adopt a puppy Find a new job (as much as sitting on the net all day is fun, its not giving me the experience this job promised to start) Do more for my parents, I need to give back to them for all they have done. Meet more car people to hang out in my shed with!

Should Street Racers Cars Be Crushed ?
orangeLJ replied to pnyk33's topic in Rollaclub Social (Off-Topic)
should it really matter? I see people "race" each other every morning on the freeway, you know the old "speed up so that tosser flying down the left lane can't get over" thing (i agree with it most of the time, undertaking already speeding traffic isnt smart) The whole street racing thing is overused as a blanket term to cover an form of what they call "hooning" When I first got my torana on the road, I had my old man drive next to me in his ute at the same speed to tell me if the speedo was reading correctly or not, that was 4 years ago before "hoons" became a media debacle. doing the same thing now would probably lose both our cars. Everyone speeds, hell the average speed of traffic on the F3 between central coast and sydney is about 125-130km/h of a morning and of an afternoon. thats one big street race! -
Should Street Racers Cars Be Crushed ?
orangeLJ replied to pnyk33's topic in Rollaclub Social (Off-Topic)
That may be the case in the USA, with the new severity of "hoon" laws that keep being applied in the eastern states (Vic, NSW, QLD) they can charge you with hooning for alot of little, insignificant things. Like the most recent "hoon" story in the papers. seventy something year old guy was caught doing 170kms on a 100km/h road. The bloke is an experienced driver (attends alot of calder track days and most of the time tops the times) not that that excuses anything though, But why not charge him with the crime he commited? its plain and simple "excessive speeding" its not "hooning" sure he was speeding, sure there was another car behind him from the same car club, but why all of a sudden do we need even more legislation to clutter up the courts? -
:y: thats not possible! if you arent a holden bloke anymore then you never were :D hahaha Ive got a yard full of toyotas and holdens, thats about it (well for cars anyway!) Those arab blokes are absolute nutters. They will throw BBCs in anything, there are videos getting around of a few brand new mercs with 400+ci chevies in them drifting along the desert highways, never really made sense when some of the new euro engines rev harder and are lighter..... spose they just want to be diferent hey!

Should Street Racers Cars Be Crushed ?
orangeLJ replied to pnyk33's topic in Rollaclub Social (Off-Topic)
Heres another thought for you all. Imagine you know that they will crush your car when a copper tries to pull you over, all your hard work and effort is going to be destroyed because they think you are a hoon just because you chirp the wheels changing gears, or give it a squirt off the lights (over dramatisation I know, but its possible) Hell, even if you are being a dick and having a line up with some other bloke, are you going to stop for the cops? or are you going to try and do everything in your power to keep your car? I know alot of blokes with cars the coppers would have a hard time catching, it sounds like a "I'm such a hard ass" thing, but its true, alot of young blokes (myself included) would probably try and run from the coppers to keep their car if put in that situation, whether or not its their own stupid fault. Also, one other thing, what happens if its not the drivers car? Do they still crush it? how do they determine if its owned by the person but just registered in the parents name or something? alot of legal avenues and grey areas, too many if you ask me. Thats why it hasnt been fully implemented in Australia
