  1. The diff needed both sides of the tube shortened, and one axel respline(swapping the short axel to the long side, and re-splining the long axel to be the short one.

Tailshaft is made up of a bluebird(replaceable) front uni and tube and the falcon rear uni.

cost of the work to the tailshaft was $130 +parts.

Cost of all of the machining to shorten the diff was $800 +parts.

The commodore disks were fitted by machining down the old corolla disk so it is really small- and then drilling a series of about 15 holes around it. the commodore disk then has the hub machined out of it then drilled in the same manner, except tapping threads in the holes. The two are then bolted together with allen key bolts, approx 15 of them.

Custom calliper brackets are then machined.

Cost of this work was approx $350 +parts.

The camary strut tubes were fitted to the corolla base only because they are shorter then the original corolla items - giving an extra 3" of travel to the front end. Wet leg struts just means the factory design has been used, not cartriges. This means shockie rates can be adjusted in the same way as a motorbike, by useing thicker or thinner oils.

  2. This was the first event i have attended in the rola, and i am stoked

The reaction from people was amazing! Old guys were getting out of their supercharged V8s to tell me that my car looks insane. There was rarely a moment that people werent standing around looking at it. I could not believe that a corolla could ever get so much attention :P

The 15s are on the back getting fried. brand new 195/50s......

  3. I fully agree with what u say about the need for dish, i have some chrome 17s with a flat face and they draw alot of attention, but they really don't suit. I think 17s really could work as long as they have a large bit of rim on the outside. :D

I have spent the last 2 days buffing the car, and the bumpers and some of the other smaller bits really need a repaint,as they are not real smooth, so i am getting real serious about considering the color change...... :angrybird: hmmmm......

  4. My old car ran 14" rims with stock Corolla rolling diameter

15" rims that I had as skid tyres for motorkhana had much lower profile, therefore the car sat lower at motorkhana!

Speakin of motorkhana, are ya gonna bother commin ta kalbar to hit the motorkhana this wk end?

  5. Whitewalls! yes, that is gold. I think i may have to do that.... as for changing cars, not really possible, way too many floor mods. over diff clearance, extra exhaust tunnel, +tunnel clearance for gearbox,

I love the concept though, :D venitians! yes i love it! As for the black.....nah, I'm still considering metallic silver, i don't know about black........hmmmmm, ....

  6. :rocknroll: :rocknroll: :rocknroll:  :D

    Awesome man! do it!

Be aware of the hidden costs though, radiator, getting gauges to work(or replace), getting tailshaft made, heater plumbing, ect.

    :D :D :D :D :y: :y:

U wont regret it, + it opens so many possibilities, work the tits off it or turbo it........i'll take one of each thanks......and then i wake up........ :P

  7. Less rolling diameter will always bring faster times. Slap 13's on ya rolla and take it for a boot. you'll notice it.

True, but the funny thing is the steel rims were slightly larger. :rocknroll: Id love to slap some 13s on the rolla but i tried and the brakes clash :P There goes third gear smokeshows..

12s sound even more fun, ......i think the sills would drag............ :rocknroll:

  8. yeh, i hear what ur saying. My 17s just fit with 45 profile, so i figured maybe 18s with 30 profile??? Maybe its not the best idea...... I can get a set of 17" american racing, reverse rim wheels for 600 each, hmmmm.

Its very true what u say about the weight of the wheels too for performance and handling, a mate of mine had a set of heavy 17s on his EF falcon, when we took it to the drags we did about 4 runs with the wheels and about 4 without, the difference was a 13.8 to a 13.5, the car was always faster with the steelies even though it smoked the tyres more! :P

  9. i recon 2 pac 606 is the only way... it is twice the price though. It covers really well, and if used correctly gets a better shine of the gun than buffing can. I have painted a few cars in both acrylic and 2pac, and i think that for an amature it is definately worth spending the extra $. Also respritory gear should be used :D

  10. what wheels and tyres are going on it? all i can imagine is like, 13x8 hotwires shod in bridgestone eagers with the white writing 07-nyahnyah.gif

I have a set of 17 inch chrome wheels but i think they look gay(U would love them). I am going to get a set of 18s but turbo is priority. At the moment i am running sigma turbo wheels. I'll leave the hotwires to your stoko ke25, :D

  11. Thank u all for youre opinion, :D

personally i find it hard to know how good/bad it looks from a couple of close-ups.(the only ex-chrome in the pics are the tail light surrounds)

In my previous build with a toyota3T motor in the same car i allowed all of the chrome to stay, in my opinion no matter what i did to it, it looked like a soft-cocks car.

This time i spent much time debating whether to paint all the chrome metallic silver, or the green.

Looking at the finished car, i know i made the right decision. Even my V8 loving mates cannot believe how tough it looks.

f@$king oath its ugly....even the chrome has been painted in the shit.

ha ha........ told ya everyone hates the color! :D i guess thats why everyone stops and stares :)

  12. u like the color? sweet! most people hate it. Its actually the stock rola color TOYOTA AJ "bright green". The mounts were really easy if u can weld... i just moved the stock mounts on the rola crossmember, changed the angles a bit and re-welded them. The g'box member was a just as easy, a bit of 25mm RHS is pretty much all u need. =) :wootjump:

  13. thanks man!

Yeh, it goes well with the stocko 120kw SR. The conversion was quite simple, there were a few probs as far as clearance goes, the tunnel fits great up to where the rola box used to end, but the sr box is much longer so the mid-tunnel has to be widened. This would be no worrys except this lands right on top of the front seat brace....bummer. cut and weld! other than that both crossmembers were real easy,
