As much as that sounds good I don't have the money up front to get a new engine and all the other extras, I can only afford to keep the current one or get this other one off my friend and do the modifications to that as its only $500 max for each modification. Unless someone whats to sell me a 4age for real cheap or let me pay it back monthly or fortnightly :y: :y:

About Me: money: $3000 over about 6-12 months. (may be more but that's the target) skills: Very hands on, and always been good with technical things and fiddling. tools: A whole car garage full of them, don't ask what that's for my dad and friend to do. (i know the odd few) knowledge: Obviously from what items i have read in the FAQ section and what my friend knows i will hopefully learn in time. time: Every Thursday all day, Friday, Saturday and Sunday till 2 so plenty of it. About the car: condition bought: Good body, motor not working, hasn't been started since January. quality of build: All stock KE55 Coupe with 4K Engine and 4 Speed Transmission. car use: Would like to mainly drive around and the occasional speedy drive next to someone... performance: ------------- reliability: ------------ cost: $450 Other: If the engine wont work after a routine check up and a few tests will be picking up either a 4K or 5k from a friend that uses them in demos. I think that's all the info.... Last time I checked we have no restrictions, but that was about December last year and I have a few friends with cars with Turbos and one with a V8 supercharged but I'm not sure what they have done with the rego and what not but they drive them and have been for a couple years now. and even if there is I have a speedway track out in or paddock so if its not road legal it will be a nice place to take it for a spin up there and through the tracks there (after tuning up the suspension)

stuff the V8 sound, I'm getting to fussy :) lol I don't want to buy a car outright because I don't have the money up front and I want that feeling of doing my own the driving around in it, much more satisfying. The $3000 would have to be stretched over time and would have to be the maximum to spend also with a turbo like Taz_Rx's "TD04-L turbo" what will that do for the car... (just noticed in the pic's that its a CT12 Turbo whats that gonna do for the car compared to the TD04-L?) if it is a decent benefit i would rater install one of them than use some fake thing...

haha thanks will start searching now :) I would like to have a turbo in the car like I said just to make it flutter: 1. what would i need to do that? 2. roughly how much is it going to cost can anyone link me to a good online car parts shop or one in SA for the carby, turbo and other parts that may be needed.

sweet, thanks heaps white_sandshoe. I love the way you describe and explaine things it makes it easyier to understand for someone who know shit all about the engines. I have looked at these: Twin SU Carbs but are they any good, some of the people seem a bit hesitant about them?

That's the stuff I need to hear... i have read that tougher motor thing but a lot of it just dosen't make sense the way you have explained it has helped a lot, and is much appreciated. Ok that's the things I needed to hear, but a few questions if you don't mind... 1. Out of the 32/32 down draft or 40mm side draft Weber what is better? (for a stock 4k) 2. With the extractors what type, brand, size etc. and full size exhaust, size type etc. 3. The 3k head that is meant to bolt straight on, is it a stock untouched one straight off the 3k engine? and what does it do? 4. A lumpier cam? When i drive i normally get the maximum revs i can. 5. and by decent clutch you mean.... brand, model etc. Thanks heaps for the info, but like i said i need all the info i can get like brands and stuff like that and if your in adelaide which places did you get your parts from and which were the most reliable places and cheapest. Oh and yeah my friend know the lot but i don't what to leave all the work to him I wan't to walk up to him and go this is what I would like to do sort of get a plan. maybe you could write up a small shopping list style thing... Eg. Engine: 4k with worked 3k head (details) 32/32 down draft Weber (details) extractors (size, brand etc.) clutch: lumpier one... (what type etc.) and so on... Would be really helpful and would mean the world... maybe a carton coming your way if i choose your setup... (or the money for a carton :)) Taz could you please write up a stock list of what you have in that car and the rough prices :) That is very very nice...

Ok scrap the V8 sound :) I would only like to spend around $2500 - $3000 but thats over a stretched out time like $200 Max a week to stretch out the project. So what modifications would you suggest first.

and how much would one of them set me back around? whats the other mods i can do to get some more power outta the car?

Hi i have just brought another KE55 Coupe with a 4K, 4speed all Stock. I would like to know what to do to it first, Some things I would like are to keep the 4K engine, save as much money as possible and do heaps of shopping from U-Pull-It or cheaper stores/online sellers. Things i would like to know are what are the simplest and/or most effective things to do to the engine and what parts (i.e name of part, model number and possible places to get) Things i want to do with the car: Be fast off the mark Sound like those V8 FPV's Be able to butterfly it (I think that's what its called, you know the sound it makes when you have a turbo i think and it goes vrooommm ti ti ti ti tooow or whatever it is LOL) If it could be street legal (In SA if its not too hard) I have done some reading and looking around here and there and have got a small understanding of a few things but its not the best and when i read things like How to build a Tough K Series Engine i get confused with most of the Mechanical talk, I'm sure my friend who will be helping me will understand all that but i can't just expect him to walk in and do it all that's why I'm after the basic parts list so i can get some idea of what to put in and what works together whit what and what wont work with that. I'm thinking going old style with a KE-55 Coupe (hoping i still get the black one as planned and get it running) I wanna have it rwd and make it as loud as possible and be able to be so quick off the go and the top speed isn't important but the higher the better.. I would love to get it painted up like you would see a true muscle car i.e. Dodge Charger, challenger etc. (Orange, Green etc. with the black speed stripes) and have have the carb sticking a little out the hood (is it the carb or air filter for the carb) not sure what it is but I'm thinking like Dom's car in the original fast and furious film... Not sure how it would look but would love to see it, i wanna try something not seen around a lot and outrageous...

Hey thanks for the insight. I will do what you said and i managed to find one of my friends who will be able to help me out with the motor work so i think i will get this car if its not sold and is half decent.. can't wait to have a time filler on my hands...

Hey all Tyler here. Out and beyond the Adelaide hills at Mannum :2thumbs: 1981 KE55 2 Door Coupe

Hey fellow Adelaide Rolla owners, I'm Tyler and I have a KE55 2 Door Coupe and would like to do it up to be a nice little speed machine that looks the part as well. Firstly, I would love to have the chance to see a few done up corollas in the metal so I can stick my head in the engine bay and know what people are talking about when they say extractors, webber something, head, etc. Second, I would like to get a rough plan drawn up on what i would like to do to my car engine/body wise. Third, I would love someone to help me along the way and guide me through all the stuff and help me install this and pain that (and be paid for helping of course) The thing is i can get all this help I asked for through the forum in the form of Pictures, Guides, Part lists and Referrals to Mechanics but i would much rather meet with other rolla owners and sit and chat with them about what they have done and get a walk through the engine while they are telling me about it, That one thing this forum can't provide. So I would love someone to step up and take the plate in giving me a big helping hand in creating my own personal Rolla. (someone as close as possible to the Adelaide hills or Mannum/Murray Bridge) Thanks hope to hear back soon, Tyler Rice P.S My Budget Isn't the biggest as i am a student with part time work but i think if i saved parts of my pay or picked up shifts as i will be in the holidays i can afford most of the things to upgrade my car.

God guys thanks for all the info I'm looking at getting my hands on this: KE55 Coupe to replace the front corner panel thats a bit dented up and a bent bumper done about a week after those photos were taken. ;) stupid drowsy drivers :2thumbs: could maybe use the manual outta that...

I have done some looking around here and haven't found much info about much of those things specific to my car. As I said I'm not a motor head so i don't know whats what. Maybe if the people that know what they are doing could post a small tutorial with helpful links. When you say all the things like weber, carburettor, porting out your ports etc. and add KE55 ok to it on google (portting out your ports on KE55) you don't get alot of useful pages for me as I have no idea what I'm doing. But thanks for the info and help i will keep trying to look into them...

Hey all. I have a 1991 KE55 1300 Auto, 2 door red Fastback. All Original Paint and parts only almost 100,000Ks. Passed down from my uncle, I know nothing about cars so thats me telling you what i have been told and worked out myself so please correct me if i am wrong. Anyway to the point i would like some tips, tricks, tweaks and info on unleashing the inner beast. I would like to do some tuning and upgrading to maximize performance and what not. (when i say i, i mean my friend down the road will help with the mechanical because i will stuff something up but i will learn on the way) I am located in the Adelaide Hills and would also like to know of good places to get parts and other things for the car.
