  1. then after some further setting the strut up in the vice it got a heavy weld all the way around the bottom part, ( please excuse speeling mistakes of word that don't make sence its 3 in the morning and I'm exhausted from working since 8 this morning on the car @!!) both struts finished welds since i had sanded the hole strut before hand it was nearly ready to paint, just had to scuff off the welds and the threaded part
  2. step 2!!!! next thing as to see if i can indeed use coil overs with these struts and with the wheels i have, there was a big concern the large nuts that the spring rest on would be far to close to the tyre, due to my offset so i was right in thinking that ,can clearly see if the thread tube was welded too low down the tube i would run into trouble with those nuts hitting the tyre. after alot of mesuring and working things out , i gladly found a good position for the threaded tube, where i ended up was a place that would give me a small amount of lowering to start with ,but with a few inches nearly of adjustment, ie dump it ,lol so now that i had the position worked out i could go ahead and weld the threaded tube inplace so the next things i done was to prep the strut as if i was going to paint it, the whole thing was sanded with 180# and red scotch brite , the struts ended up mostly bare metal but smooth, here ive got the struts all cleaned up and ready to be welded, marked the position of the threaded tube and i just used tape to hold them in place so i could get a few tack welds on them and heres the struts with a few tack welds on the threaded tubes, also i used a bunch of masking tape on the axle to protect it from damage while I'm throwing the thing about the place...
  3. step one! again another set of (corona xt130 front struts) were bought, they cost me 120 from a wreakers , bit of a rip off in my opinion , tho i did get the complete strut with disk , spring ,caliper etc etc ,the hole strut assembly was what i got, so after striping the strut down to the bare thing , the first job is to remove the spring cup, I'm taking the cup off so i can fitt a coil over threaded sleeve. so get ya self some of these bad boys ,the xt130 corona strut::::: i set them up in a vice and used a grinder with a cut off disk to first hack the cups off.... then with a grinder ,i grinded down the left over cup metal and the weld that held it on there, till it was nearly all gone then further sanding the left over right down ,trying to keep the round shape of the tube, and keeping it level with the rest of the tube. so thats the first thing i done with these struts, cut off the cups and grinded and sanded the left over down level... 4. well time for an update on things ive been doing , glad to have my daily driver back ,all the running around i have to do to get parts and get around wouldnt be possible with out it. so FRONT END ............................... ive already done the mx62 caliper and celica disk to xt130 strut conversion, and the brakes seem to be ok ,but the xt130 struts have a bad camber problem, even lowering the car dosent help to much, so i needed to get rid of that,i simply wouldnt be able to drive the car like that, so this little issue needed to be adressed. i decided to do a differnt conversion and try and get the best results out of that one, the conversion I'm talking about is the pug/hilux/xt130 brake conversion, as it goes with everything ,parts that arnt spose to be on the car can make for a few dramas,,,,,, but any way I'm going to go into some detail with this ,just so others can have some genuine imformation about it , as things on the net can be very vague at the best of times , ill try fill in the blanks, this mite get abit boring for some ,and i tend to burbble alot when talking about this stuff so bare with me. HILUX/LANDCRUISER/PUG/XT130,COIL OVER /CAMBER PLATES CONVERSION :::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::: Well first thing i want to make very clear ,this is not a cheap conversion, this actualy cost me an arm and a leg to get all the parts together, which i did over the corse of 18 months or so, so any one looking at doing the same just note that this isnt a 50 dollar job, ill talk about the cost of things as i go along.
  5. :) roll on
  6. HAHAHA yeah dam junkie ,i still havnt cleaned out the car , I'm kinda putting it off ,don't want to find anything dodgy like needles or a pound of herion maybe lol, but thats guys yes glad to have it back and so quickly also, and still drivable! , funny story, now the police are patroling my area , ive seen them cruising past my work and having a look, then cruising down a side street, also my mates was pulled up right out side my work and asked about what they were doing there! so kinda good to know now there actualy doing there job and keeping an eye out ,
  7. wow!!! so much custom!!! the engine bay looks tops, the air brushing is awesum! thanks for sharing been a great read and love the work done! also that oven was ʞ©$ɟing massive!! :)
  8. haha thanks guys , yes it was great to get it back!,i realy only need it for another few months to finish my other car ,so not too worryed about spending time on making it secure, tho its definatley alerted me to the scum out there, and will be putting exstensive work into securing my other car, so what you said corollafan rings true, didnt lose out in the end but came away with a lesson learnt,,just happy i got it back and its still drivable,:)
  9. exactly , ive just bought a gps tracker ,not for my daily but my build car, it even has a camera that takes a picture when you txt the reciever then sends u the info ,pretty clever ,but nice knowing where your car is all the time
  10. yeah we did that nothing come out of it, but got a call the other day from the police and they found the car!! aparently the guy that stole it was a junkie, he was caught driving it around and had needles in the car@!!@ the police informed me to come and pick it up found the car in the same state it was as before it was stolen, he didnt even try take the stereo or speakers, even my shoes and clothes were left intack, only thing was the petrol was right down to nothing , so ive got my car back! what a relief too, having to go thru the dramas of orginising another car and rego and all that carry on would have suxed and cost me a fairbit of cash, the junkie told the police every thing and he was off his face ,lol he opened and started my car with a mazda key lol , well hes in jail and the car is back, which means i can carry on my merry way :)
  11. i agree, an alarm would just be a basic help, as you say ,you hear them go off every day and think nothing of it due to be a regular thing, I'm thinking more along the lines of removable steering wheel and various brake locking devices ,more mechanical than wiring side of things , tho thats not to say several kill switches in certain places will also help,
  12. dam ! lucky you were able to get it back, ive looked about and theres no sign, dirty bastards ,still it mite show up some where
  13. thanks i think ill keep them on a necklace and wear them around my neck as advice to others not to ʞ©$ɟ with my shit
  14. thanks ,i hope so to! i need it,and i would if i were you, the car i HAD wasnt exactly looking like a nice car , it was pretty much stuft and i wouldnt have thought thieves would bother with such a piece of ass, aparently they do , how ever the up side its inspired me to go over the top in security on my build car, 10 kill switches 2 alarms, and several unspoken devices should help ,
  15. thanks man, yeah it may have been a piece of ass but i relied on it to get me to the hospital and to work ,so has left me very frustrated and alot of walking to be done, its been reported to police so maybe they will find it some where, but even if they do no doubt it will be wreaked, on the upside ive taken all the decent parts from it so if it was stolen for parts, they be shit out of luck, any way now i have to track down a very cheap runnabout so if you hear of anything under 500 bucks let me know!
  16. last nite my daily orange ke55 1981 was stolen outside my work in mitcham , ,very angry , has left me with no transport at all, not that the car was worth anything and only lost a few bit of clothes, and shoes, but the fact that i need something to get to work and now i can't get to the hospital ,which is a 1 hour car journy every few weeks , so I'm very pissed and left to walk, the right hand passenger door was severly dented ,and the rear bar was bent and hanging down a bit, also the filler panel in front of the front bumper is primer colour the was heaps of rust in the quater wheel arches , any sightings please let me know, ill be watching the for sale sections and the car has been reported stolen to the police , so watch out you thieving bastards
  17. well bad to worst it seems on this ,ive been very sick again the last few weeks, been fighgting my illness again seems its not going to go away in a hurry ,but saturday i felt up to doing some work, so went in to work and spent most of the day and night stuffing around, how ever when it was time to leave, went out to get in my car and some mother ʞ©$ɟing jew dog piece of shit had stolen it!@!!!!@!@!@!@!@ extremly pissed off about this , and has stuft me up completely , been relying on this car to get me about while I'm buiding the other one,now I'm left with out a car, i have to walk to work, which is a huge mission,i can't go and get shopping to keep me alive ,and the 1 hours drive ive been making to the hospital every few weeks to get medications can't be made , so things are just bloody terrible right now, as for the build it will have to go on hold till i can find another very very cheap car some where ,god knows where that will be, worst time to have this happen, i hope the ʇ~~ɔs that stole it crash and die slowly in a burning car then go straight to hell to be burnt and tortured more by satan if any one heres of a orange ke55 1981 for sale in melbourne please let me know so i can go around and kneecap the ʇ~~ɔs then chop there hand s off so they can never steal again, extremly angry
  18. haha yeah i hope so, i think ive come up with a way to fix the leak with out having to buy another line , but ill look at that soon, just going to have a break from it for this week ,figure out what else i need to start looking at and see whats next, cheers for the encouragement :)
  19. yeah the arcades got every street fighter there is lol,my favs marvel vs capcom ,as for the air box i had already planed the set up over 2 years ago haha, but can't do that just yet till its all legal, on the down side tho, went into day and was tyding up and could smell petrol realy strong :( crawled underneath and found a fuel leak,oh the joys ,none to happy right now, seems even the professionals can't even get this right, its hard to say where the leak is coming from exactly but its deffinatley on the return line to the surge tank, don't think its the front connection, that seems dry but the leak is coming from the braid about 4 inches away from the rear connection,so i dare say its leaking fuel into the braid and its collecting there and seeping out ,its only a small leak ,but enough to ʞ©$ɟ me up for a while , problem with having a leak from the braided lines is they are cut to lenght then ends fitted, if i pull the hose out and have to cut off a section and reconect the fitting it will have shortened the hose, thus turning the entire hose in to a usless piece of garbage, :( i realy don't like these lines and was against using them from the start,I'm thinking once its on the road gona jank that line out and replace it with reliable efi hose and clamps , they just don't leak ,plane and simple , all this compicated crap with hoses this size and this connection and that connection ,and the cost is just rediculous, any way had enuff for the weekend that just pretty much ruined my day ,so over the let downs on this car ,seems like the entire build is just cursed :bash: :bash: :bash: :bash: :bash: :bash: :bash: :bash: :bash:
  20. and the intake pipe, this took longer than the hot pipe! had to figure out the lenght ,then cut that out and then add the lips on the edges, the 3 holes, one boost nipple ,a oil return hose, and the recirc return . then same again sand up thru the grades, then polish, then clear coat to seal it all off. and the blow off valve, this is a turbo smart kompact dual port, using it to run full recirculation, but with the option of full vent to atmosphere. then all assembled up, air box bolted in, the afm fitted, the intake pipe fitted, the hot pipe fitted, the bov fitted with return hose fitted, and paper air filter in box :)
  21. so today was dam hot! got a few things done tho,but before i go into that stuff, thought id show another project i been working on, nearly finished to , this is my second arcade machine! its got led lights all the way up the back, and on the side and under the control panel ,it looks mental haha, even the buttons light up, just got a bit more art work to fit up and be finished, its got thousands of games on it and all the buttons and joysticks work, and lights out! lol any way , i finished the air box ,got it painted and fitted up to the car, fits pretty good, how ever had to remove it after i i figured out that i need to make a intake pipe ,and fitt it to the air box before installing , the next thing was to make an intake pipe and a hot pipe ,these took ages to make!! had to design the hot pipe with what i had laying around ,lucky there was a few bits of stainless pipe that i could use, i had alloy piping aswell but i thought about it and it was better to go with the stainless as i can't alloy weld nor do i have the tools to do it,so if i went that way id have to cut up the pipes and then wait weeks for some one to weld them up, so the stainless it was, this way i could cut up the pipe weld them up and have them fitted right away. the hot pipe , to make the pipe i used a straight piece and 2 90 degree pipes ,also i added to the ends a bit of a lip, that was realy hard to do, took a bloody long time , had to weld around the edge then grind it all off flat, then sand the edges smooth, then used some filler on the ruff areas, that took a great deal of time, but i guess it was better to have the lip there so the pipes seal a bit better, once the pipe was sorted out , i sanded it all up,and polished it, then i clear coated it ,since it was metal and the welds were metal , was best to clear it off so rust wouldnt form plus it keeps the shine . came up pretty good tho considering my welding isnt that flash and it was the first time i ever made a intercooler piping,
  22. haha cheers man, just finished painting the box , next i gota get it fitted up, then from there I'm looking at making some sort of scoop duct thingy contraption on the lid to get air to the box, then sort out the intake pipe ,then sort out the hot pipe then do the bov and return lines then sort out the cold pipe and then it will be able to move with the bonnet down !@!!@!@!@!@!@!@@!!@!@!@ still lots to do before that happens as you can see , but one thing at a time seems to be mowing thru the lists!! more up dates soon! :)
  23. still going on this air box ,proving to be a bit of a mission ,been on it since last friday nite now, hoping to get it close to finished by the weekend ,realy want to move on to some intercooler piping aand see how that goes, still have to research the piping and see what extra pipes has to be added, thinking I'm going to have the bov on the hot pipe side, i know theres a huge debate over which side is best ra ra, reason I'm choosing that side is purely to make the job easyier, since it will be close to the air intake pipe i should be able to route the plum back line in fairly easy, I'm using a turbo smart kompact dual port, it can be set as full recirc or recirc on mild driving and full vent to atmosphere on hard driving, but need full recirc for engineering purposes,so hopefully that will do the trick. any way more box action!!! have pretty much completed the basic box set up, after cuting out some very tricky shapes and gluing them all in,then using sealer over all the joins, its looking more like a air box all the insides sealed up ,this has been alot harder to make than the alloy one ! tho the fit of the filter it self is very tight i just wanted to make sure it was locked in so ,drilled some holes and threaded them out to take some screws, now the filter is locked in nice to the frame next i wanted to be able to just screw the afm in and not have to fiddle round holding nuts and screws and trying to screw things in that way, so got some square nuts sanded them up ,sanded around the holes and glued them in place, also put some small squares of plastic hard up against the nuts to help them stay in place when tightening them, also ran sealer around them for extra lockage... next!!!!!! next step was fit the frame into place and glue her in for good, this sits on such a random angle but its where it fits best so thats where its going, once the frame was in had to make a small piece up to fill the hole at the top, done that and sealed all around the frame and pieces, next had to think about how the lid is going to attach to the box , as for the lid, I'm thinking I'm going to make some sort of duct on the top that takes the air from the top of the rad support, that should be ok untill i can do my cold air ram smash it in there duct. i took a leaf from the old box and got some speed clips, these take small scews , fited them to a piece of alloy L section , and the glued 2 of these into place!!! this box has taken a while and theres lots going on with it, just a note on how some custom things can take a long time to create!,
  24. bought some 3mm plastic, this sheet was 50 dollars! turning into an exspensive box lol, any way took apart the card board box again and copyed all the shapes onto the plastic , there was a fair few .... and started to cut out the shapes, this took hours ! after they were cut out all got the edges sanded laying out the parts and preparing to glue the first pieces together using a epoxy glue ,joined the front base and side ,then taped it up to hold the parts while it dryed and 5 parts glued!! this is rather a slow process tho, 3 minutes is the workable time, 5 minutes is dry time,24 hours till completely dry, so have to stager the assembley, piece by piece, i made another filter frame, mounted the alloy one to the bottom to strengthen it up a bit ,
  25. so now i have the afm position , i needed to enclose it into the box so its sealed , this part a little bit harded that the box itself, ended up using alot of triangle shapes to close the gaps around the afm, this way its directly under the filter but still on a good angle to make connecting it to the turbo a bit easyier, still its pretty mental ,and i have to figure out how to make it work using plastic! cardboard is easy to work with... and heres the shape pretty much finished !! a hell of alot of work just for a box ,my brain hurts lol next working out where the filter will sit, will need another frame by the looks ,a few more funky angles to deal with, filter in
