haha no problem lol, so havnt done much lately ,its been pretty dam cold in the work shop so been staying out , but i do think ive figured out the speedo problem, turns out the gear on the sensor is differnt to the cog thats on the stock cable type drive gear, so this could have something to do with it not meshing properly, ??? possibley that makes it rather difficult, because the sensor has a removable gear with a circlip so you would think just take it off and swap it with the one needed, unfortunatley the gear that is on the stock drive isnt removable and sealed to the shaft, sooo thinking about trying to combine the 2 gears to make one, the outer gear to mesh with the gear box and the inner portion of the speed sensor gear, could be possible to make one out of the two, but very tricky and most likely would fail at some stage if it indeed actualy worked ,............. hmm so I'm stuck on this one for the moment , which is slowing me down becasue the gearbox is now empty of oil, and I'm doing wiring around the gear stick area, kinda need the gear box full of oil and have a working sensor before i can replace parts...... but managed to get my centre console and hand brake console also covered the arm rest with fabric and made a new piece for the hand brake out of fabric also , turned out prety nice -
not sure on legal side for a plater but pretty shure no turbos allowed but could still do an na sr probably, would pay to speak with an engineer about the details, read my thread for some ideas, i put an sr20det into a 55

done a bit more tonite thought id share some more progress :) still on the console ive made the gear stick surround, took the cardboard shape from the last pic and traced out the shape on to plastic, used the jigsaw to cut it out, drilled some holes for mounting into it, and then sanded it back and smoothed up the inside edges and out side shape. and wola a cut out piece of plastic , this is how it looks sitting on the console but because the plastic is straight it wont sitt flush with the curve of the console:: so i used the same method i used to bend the plastic onto the console, taped it on and heated it up,a slight push and then taped it down and let it cool off, then the straight plastic turned out like this , a nice slight curve to match the console :) put it back on and marked the holes , then taped out the holes with this tool , took a bit of time but threaded the plastic and the plastic holes threaded pretty nice then found some stainless cap screws and washers and screwed it on next going to work on the stereo mounting hole -
very cool, good info!! lets see it working next ^_^

after it was dry , took to it with a hack saw and removed the excess over hang, then sanded the edges up with 180# smoothish and ended up here, at the same time as doing this , i was stuffing round with the ke70 console, this thing was prety boken when i got it from the wreckers, so was in need of some extensive repairs, also had to make brackets up for it to bolt onto the tunnel, used filler on the gaps between the new plastic and old on the console, next was cut out a hole so the gear stick could come thru then back in the car to test fit got the console and the ke70 console bolted in ,looks like this next was design a surrond for the gear stick and that will look something like this , also drill some holes for some switches for random things and then drilled some bigger holes for 2 gauges -

well still no luck on the speedo, tryed a few differnt things now, realy no idea with that one think ill take a break form it and come back to it later, starting to anoy me now, so thought id move back on to the console, managed to get it mounted so now i can bolt it in and out which helps for lining things up, this console getting alot of mods! mounted the stock bracket in place again after it was removed to cover over the gear stick hole, lucky i kept it! so next I'm going to attach my custom console cover i made using plastic and a heat gun , prepped the console by sanding the surface with 180 gritt sand paper, glued it all up and stuck the plastic ontop, taped it all down to hold it in place while it dryed, also hot glue guned the insides as well just to make sure -
that was an awesum watch ! i wanta ke70 now hahaha

ive got this one for the dash it seems to be fairly standard as ive seen a few others and there all the same pretty much, shows the speedo wires, but i wired it up this way and its not working , possibly i have a faulty speed sensor, I'm going to pull it out and check that first then if thats working ,pull the dash out and try a direct connection to the back of the cluster , i have a spare cluster also which mite try it on that , one of them has to work!! the diagram to me looks like this , speed sensor has to wires, y/blue and y/black, actualy my speed sensor has differnt colours black and green , shouldnt make much differnce i don't think, theres a yellow and green wire going to the ecu , and it has power from the green ignition wire and earth from pin 28 ,so flm it should work, i could be reading it wrong or my sensor is faulty or i have the sensor wires round the wrong way or the speedo in the cluster is buggard, but I'm more learning toward ive wired it wrong some how, the last few wiring sessions are abit of a blur now ,as i done soo much wiring ,hard to remember exactly till i look into it, but this is the diagram i been going off and the colours are correct as they match up to the dash loom i have no i don't want to do another car lololol this one has had enuff work put into it and after this i don't intend to do any more , want to just enjoy what ive made, but sounds like you got a good plan in place, always good to get things sorted before you dive in, hope it goes well for ya mate. haha thanks mate, its a fairly basic set up , could have done what every one does and put auto meter gauges every where , but wanted the stock cluster to go with the stock ecu and stock engine ,but looks good and hopefully once i sort out the speedo issue it will all work as it should :) -

gave it a clean and had it outside for the first time! lol gave it some boost down the lane way , she picks up and goes all right! can't wait till can get on the road, few things i found from the quick drive ,got some scraping sounds from the front end, i know what it is , the disks are hitting the lower arms there way to close with the ae86 arms in there so mite swap them back to the xts, also my speedo isnt working ,most likely my wirnig was wrong ,i couldnt find a matching diagram to the colours of the wires i had ,so had to guess it a bit , just have to keep hunting for some proper diagrams i guess, and the alarm system does some wierd shit , when you turn off the the ign it keeps the car running till you close the door ,must be like a turbo timer or something , still have lots to learn with that set up , but pretty happy bout the little adventure in the lane way haha boooosssttt , -

so that was the sight last nite , been working hard out on wiring under the dash and managed to get a bit done , its just realy slow going, but i got the dash back on ,this is the one i painted up and recovered the dash pad, came out prety good for a diy job heres the dash faica, put 3 gauges in it and custom made a surround for the 180sx cluster, next i spent a very very long time trying to figure out all the wires on the 180 cluster , that was hard , melted my brain a fair bit , but i think i got them right , -

Haha cheers man , getting to do a few little custom things now , i enjoy doing these little bits and pieces ,there alot easyier than the mechanical side of things , well for me any way , but pretty happy at this stage , car is sooo close to getting a few test drives on the road for the first time in over 3 years , so prety excited about that, just need to get through a bit more wiring ,alot more wiring actualy haha but its very close!! will do a video of the first ever drive out on the road ,realy hope it scares the shit out of me haha so used to driving round on a 4kc with blown head gasket and leaking fuel pump lol so be cool to see the differnce in power and performance as well, stay tuned tho alot more to come !
