7shades Posted October 19, 2006 Report Share Posted October 19, 2006 Ok boffins.... Google hasn't been able to help me this time. I have, amongst many other cars, an 84 tercel with a 3AC. I dig this car... It drives over or through whatever you point it at with surprising enthusiasm. So considering the duties the poor little ninja tercel is forced to endure, I'd really love to shove a diesel in it rather than the 4AGE I have quietly corroding in the shed. I also make my own biodiesel so yeah... cheap transport! Anyone know if JDM 'rollas had a diesel variant in the A series? Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

You could get a 1ND-TV 1.4L 88bhp SOHC turbo diesel motor from the European Yaris. Another option would be the 1CD-FTV 2.0L 114bhp DOHC turbo diesel. Of course, you'd have to get either of these motors imported from Europe or some other diesel selling market - good luck affording that. Or while we're dreaming, you may as well consider the 1KD-FTV 3.0L 170bhp DOHC turbo diesel. At least it is available in Australia. Good luck on fitting a Hilux 4WD transmission though. 7shades Posted October 20, 2006 Author Report Share Posted October 20, 2006 From what I can gather, there were JDM diesel tercels but only in the later models with east-west engines and fulltime AWD.
