irokin Posted January 3, 2007 Report Posted January 3, 2007 You guys must do them up to 6 billion ft. lb of torque. I take my steering wheel off once or twice a month (change steering wheels for the track) and its no more than a 2 minute job to whip one off and put the other one on. Quote
7shades Posted January 3, 2007 Report Posted January 3, 2007 Fill glove compartment with peanuts. Remove small cover panel from steering wheel and undo nut. Wind down window, tie rope to steering wheel. attach other end to sleeping african elephant (note: african, NOT indian. This is important.) Start car, release handbrake. Engage first gear and very swiftly remove foot from clutch pedal whilst simultanously applying liberal pressure to accelerator pedal. As a safety precaution, you may wish to lean slightly to the left at this point, as using this method may cause the steering wheel to become dislodged rather abrubtly. Retrieve peanuts from glove compartment and feed to the very angry elephant. Easy. Quote

turbo_rolla Posted January 3, 2007 Report Posted January 3, 2007 i have lost count how many times i have smacked myself in the nose trying to take it off :Dkeep the nut on the thread a little bit and it should stop that! almost did it the first time i took mine off! Irokin's right though, as since i've done my steering wheel a few times since originally doing it, and its heaps easier now :) Quote
