camerondownunder88 Posted February 3, 2007 Report Posted February 3, 2007 I think the auto box is the holden trimatic with a bell housing to suit the motor. Other than that I'm not to sure on. Cameron Quote
wagon Posted February 3, 2007 Author Report Posted February 3, 2007 the k series autos are trimatics. Not to sure but the 4a auto is a a40, thats the info i have Quote
irokin Posted February 3, 2007 Report Posted February 3, 2007 the k series autos are trimatics. Not to sure but the 4a auto is a a40, thats the info i have Well...thats not exactly true. Alot of corollas came with Toyoglides too. A trimatic will hold more power than you can throw at it with a K motor. Quote
wagon Posted February 4, 2007 Author Report Posted February 4, 2007 just found out its a borg warner 3 speed, are these tuff? Quote
Des Posted February 4, 2007 Report Posted February 4, 2007 Maybe you should be thinking about a Auto from a more powerfull car as the autos that were behind 4a engines only had about 80hp or something around that and your running a 4agte hmmm don't think the A40 would last long at all. Quote
wagon Posted February 4, 2007 Author Report Posted February 4, 2007 I've been told they should hold around 200 to 250 rwhp as they were behind six cylinder cars aswell. I'm in the process of getting one built but the guys gone over seas for a couple of months, i've got another standard one might just put in and dial the boost down for now. Quote
Des Posted February 4, 2007 Report Posted February 4, 2007 Only the trimatics were behind 6 cylinder holdens and were only on the K motor, The A40 was only on the 4ac to my understanding. Quote
wagon Posted February 4, 2007 Author Report Posted February 4, 2007 well thats what i have read because its a borgwarner they are trimatics? Quote
Des Posted February 4, 2007 Report Posted February 4, 2007 Dunno but its not going to just bolt up to a 4A engine, Your going to need a flex plate to suit a 4AG engine and i don't think they excist as I'm sure 4AG's didnt come with a automatic, A bellhousing to suit the auto and stall converter will also be needed. Trev Posted February 4, 2007 Report Posted February 4, 2007 The early 4age (bigport) has a 6 bolt crank so you should be able to use the 4A-C flex plate on it, What GE have you got? Quote
wagon Posted February 4, 2007 Author Report Posted February 4, 2007 already got the flexplate off a big port and converter that fits the flexplate and the auto. i have everything that is needed Quote
Des Posted February 4, 2007 Report Posted February 4, 2007 So is it 6 bolt crank or 8 bolt crank ? Quote
