I have an 86 model hatch with a twinky conversion. That went all good, the problems star when I try to fit some of the other bits on: ;)

 

The fuel feed line tank end, no thread to bolt the bracket to.

The grille, its too long.

I can't just bolt up a sway bar because the floor has no threads

The factory strut brace, I needed to buy bolts for the fire wall, no thread.

 

Thats just a few on my list, Does/Can anyone help me before I lose the plot all together and just torch the thing.

Dude, I have a full set of taps and dies. More than willing to come over one night and tap my heart out.

 

The other thing is that the threads maybe full of paint? Either way, a quick tap will fix things.

Yes as slim and i noticed today, The 4A-C series AE82 corolla does not have a sway bar nor anywhere to bolt the damn thing, Slim if you need the fuel line you can take mine now as my bottom end is fine.

Thats both fuel lines(feed and return) TREV, the filter(for now), fuel rail injectors(for now) just so we can eliminate all that stuff.

 

Silly bloody cars, once all has been checked, and still plays up after the mechanics, its TOAST.

Why bother tapping the firewall? Just remove the plastic cover over the firewall plenum and chuck nuts on the bolts, thats what I did. Sure, it means you have to take the cover off again if you want to remove the strut brace, but if thats too much of a hassle and you're any good with a welder just tack-weld the nuts to the back of the firewall, saves having to tap a hole and there is more shear strength in the bolt that way (you've got the extra length of the nut assisting you there)

He already has the strut brace on, He put it on with nuts an bolts on the firewall, Hes just peeved that it don't have pre tapped holes and the fact that the 4A-C AE82's don't have front swaybars (checked his and 1 of my seca's as i gave him a swaybar) and thats what he wants tapped.

They are the same length but the series 2 letterbox is deeper, Just a pain in the ass.

I think mine has holes (through the "SR" sticker) but it looks like thin sheet metal - I might be mistaken but not sure there is any strength there.

Holes are behind black dots in the 86 hatches, no nuts either.

 

 

 

and the grillles are longer must be change, coz I used to get asked about jap clutch cover and bonnet and aus clutch cover. Mines a feb 86 (i thinks) they must have made a little wider, or something. If any one can fit my grille without braking it or my car it will be greatly appriciated.
