hey guys, in a day or two I'm gettin another corolla sedan, not sure of the model but its a 78-79 i think, it has the same tail lights as my mates 81 ke55 but it has round headlights,

anyway, i have made a turbo kit for my vn v6 and that was easy enough, but i wanna do it to my corolla, exaust manifold will be easy enough to make and all the plumbing, only thing i dunno how to do is get the air from the turbo to the inlet manifold...my vn was easy caus all i had to do was make a pipe to go from the turbo to the throttle body, but i don't know to turbo a carbie motor???

any help and pics would be muchly appreciated

cheers guys

I would like to see some pics of the V6 turbo setup as i have a KE30 with a VN V6 and i am turboing it, i just like to see other peoples setups to help me make mine, i have a idea of how i want it but if someone had a better idea ill try that.

I'm a bit cramped for room in mine so i havent got alot of options.

What size turbo where you running?

Hey man, have a look in this forum about 5-6 pages back. Theres a thread called "turbo 4k" or something like that and there pretty much all the info you need to know there. You can also have a look at my projects thread and see how I've gone from a very "agricultural" :S setup to something a bit better and quicker while still retaining a carby.

But I'm just about to go the other way now and chase Madrolla with an EFI 5k, you missed out on everything you needed a few weeks back when I sold all my stuff!! :hmm:

Guy is getting my cooler and all of the exhaust which wasn't originally advertised for $1150 fitted.

you can do things a different way to me as well, and go suck through. basically all the same turbo oil and water stuff, but then have a side draft (well normally) carby BEFORE the turbo and then just have a pipe coming from the outlet of the turbo to the flange on the stock inlet manifold were the carby used to be.

Yeah draw through is heaps easier to set up because you're not putting boost into the carby, most don't like it much!

another couple of things to mention if you don't know much about draw through, you can't run a cooler or BOV. If the bov goes off it would spray air AND FUEL all through the engine bay, and if you have a backfire through the inlet manifold with and intercooler full of perfectly mixed fuel and air...... :S well I think you get the idea!!

Also gotta have a turbo suitable to have fuel run through it with the right seals.

But not that one , you can see the wastegate sealing area , the wastegate is part of the dump housing i think

yeah that turbo is not internally gated, but only the manifolds and y piece are for sale, not the turbo, so if u get it..just buy a t3 with an internal gate

yeah i know exactly what u mean lol :S

cheers
