The land of reasonably abundant KE70s (that I never noticed before), some KE20's and some KE30's. And they virtually all look rather bodgy. And they all either have steelies, or very very similar deep dish 13x7 jellybeans or something. I've seen one KE10 too. And several old school Lancers, Gallants, Capellas (I think) and some other cars I can't recognise.

And wow, the rice is really quite abundant, especially with the Proton Wira's and Satrias (no surprise, nothing new), but now also with those silly looking Daihatsu Move van-like things. Yuck.

And haha, vans look funny with RWD offset deep dish wheels. Because they're meant to have wheels with a more FWD sort of offset, so the wheels stick out like a go-kart. :)

My Satria GTi has seen better days. One side of the exhaust (it's a twin exhaust system) is missing, handbrake doesn't work (WTF??? Is this problem following me around???), body kit missing in bits, paint scratched, blemished, panels not straight, interior looking rather ordinary... :P Still a joy to drive though :D

interesting to read Fook...

Are you in Malaysia at the moment? because i could swore when i was at your house last i didn't see a Satria GTi...but i could be wrong :)

Yes, in Malaysia at the moment for a wedding - one of my high school friends. Will be back next Monday morning.

I'm still convinced Malaysian roads are mad. On one hand you get the people in fancy cars like BMW's and stuff, and then the people in riced up Satrias/Wiras/Kancil's driving like crazy, well above the speed limit and just running red lights and stuff, and then you get the teenagers on these little riced up Honda motorcycles (like, talking 100cc), no mufflers or anything, either crouched low over the handlebars or fully stretched out with their legs behind them (lying on their belly on the seats, sort of like Superman) tearing up through the town and going the wrong way down one-way streets, and then you get these old folk on similar motorcycles (just not riced, and generally in poor form) doing about 20km/h in the middle of the road, and everywhere else. Madness.

I think I've made the conclusion that there are no road rules in Malaysia, only road guides.

I think I've been in Australia for too long :)

Petrol here doesn't fluctuate in price throughout the week, and doesn't change much from one station to the next either. It is RM1.52/L, and over here Shell calls it's high octane fuel (that we've been getting for years now) "V-Power". We don't sell "Regular" petrol.

Just noticed something unusual about the Satria today too. All the windows are badged "Mitsubishi" and "MMC" (Mitsubishi Motor Corp). I mean, I know it's originally a Mitsubishi Colt, just rebadged Proton Satria, but considering it is locally made, I would have thought they would have rebadged the windows too.

Driving around today, I've seen so many KE10's, KE20's, KE30's and KE70's, as well as the wagon variants of all except the 1x. All of these I'd never even noticed before, the old-car thing must be growing on me. I don't think Malaysia ever got any of the 2-door variants though.

All the KE10's I've seen have been in reasonable nick, and all fairly standard looking. KE20's and KE30's are about as common as each other and seem to mostly be in fairly average-good condition, although I did see one rather overrated KE20. With very deep dish jellybeans. KE70's here are generally very crap-average condition.

I've taken a few photos of some of these, might post them up later.

Have also seen a a lot of Datsun 120Y's, Sunny's, and a very good looking 260Z.

On top of that, have seen one genuine Evo6.

Yay, drove up to KL the other day, KL is fun. Have now seen more Evo's than I can wave a stick at, mostly 8's, some 6's and some 7's. Also went to the performance and tuning shops at Sunway where I saw quite a few other nice machinery, mostly Honda Civics (oh wow, some of the gear they have is NICE), most of them fresh from the 24-hour Merdeka race that was held on the 28th at Sepang.

Also saw 1 x 180sx, and a few Skyline GTR's. Haven't seen any GTS-T's yet. And, happily, no Subapoos :P And, also saw a VERY NICE panda Trueno AE86.

Bought a Pivot shift lamp (A$106), Cusco boot clamps - like bonnet pins but for your boot (A$45). They didn't have anything to suit 4AGE's or even any AE86 parts though. Just lotsa Honda parts and Skyline parts, and Evo parts.

They had Sparco and umm... another brand harness, all 4 point in either 2 or 3 inch, FIA spec. The 3" 4 point was A$295, valid till 2006. They also had the Haltech computer (E6K I think?) for about A$1500. Lots of wheels, lots of seats, lots of lots of lots of stuff. So much fun. But nothing to suit Hal...

Also got some Best Motoring VCD's, yay :P Am going to try to meet up with Chin (Acoustic) on Saturday, he's promised me a ride in his 20V 4AGE KE70 :P

Teddy: I think you'll like this:

Chin's 20V KE70

You'll also probably really like the rest of his website.

I can't wait to see the car too :P

Oh yeah, a brand new Evo8 here would cost you A$100K. I have also seen 1 x KE25, and I *think* a 2 door KE10? Was there ever such a thing? I only caught a glimpse of it, it didn't look like a KE15...

Yes, the Evo8 in Oz is significantly cheaper. In Malaysia all imported cars (ie cars other than Protons and Perodua's) get taxed a fairly large amount, as far as I can tell this is to help the local car manufacturers to compete with other manufacturers. You also can't buy a Mitsubishi car (agreement with Proton) and I think you also can't buy a Daihatsu car (agreement with Perodua). So if you really want one (like an Evo), you'll have to get it imported and pay the necessary tax.

A bare basics Hyundai Accent here will cost you A$22K.

I have now seen my first KE35 (YAY), it was bright yellow, it had bright yellow wheels, bright yellow dash, bright yellow grille, bright yellow radiator (and everything around it), bright yellow badges, bright yellow bumpers... you get the idea :P

Met up with a few of the ZeroToHundred Forum members last night, unfortunately didn't get to see the 20V KE70 (Chin didn't bring it out), but I did get to have a ride in an AE101 (or maybe 111?) with a Beams 3SGE in it (Oh Yeah!). Also got to have a look at a Supra with more than 500hp, and enough go-fast-bits to easily achieve 1000hp (or so they all recon anyway). Unfortunately even in it's current form (and not touching the NOS), the clutch can't even close to handle the power (stock clutch) and slips constantly, and the 5-speed gearbox isn't taking the power too well either. Unfortunately it was late (2am), and I didn't take any photos because I was well tired...

Also got to meet the well known Bill Sherwood too :P

On the drive home (2 hour drive) played leap frog most of the way with a white Evo5, So Much Fun. It COMPLETELY OBLITERATED me every single time, and to tell you the truth I don't think it was even trying. And it even had 5 people in it (I was in the Satria by myself). But yes, Evo's Rock.

There was also a very good looking Evo7 in full race trim on a truck on the way up, looked the goods :P

Hmm, oh well, air cond in the Satria has carked itself (I think it's run out of gas?), so will be taking the dodgy Ford van to the airport. Bummer. I like driving the Satria...

Sounds like fun !

I had a look @ the Ke70+pages, *insert drool here* ! ! !:P !; it will also be my reading material for the next few weeks :P !

(better get off computer, mass storm over head :P )

Cheers
