Trev Posted July 3, 2007 Report Posted July 3, 2007 (edited) Hey guys, I have recently become fed up with the fact that you cannot get any more 4age clear timing covers so i thought id give it a shot at getting them made, I found a place that is keen to do them and he estimated the mould to be around 900 bucks, I am sending one of my top covers to their shop tomorrow so he can see what process needs to be taken to make them but 900 bucks plus the final product is alot for just one clear cover so i wanna know how many others would be keen on getting one made, I'm unsure of a price for the final product as yet and i don't have 1 made but if i can approach him and say i have 20 or so people wanting one then they might make it alot cheaper. Also if there was 10+ people would you be keen in putting some money into paying for the mould as i was thinking that i could work as the middle man (No price mark up) but just put a mould cost price ontop with postage, Let me know if your interested, Thanks. Medicine_Man Posted July 3, 2007 Report Posted July 3, 2007 I'd possibly be interested, Are they going to make it ribbed like the stock item or a smooth face? Quote
7shades Posted July 3, 2007 Report Posted July 3, 2007 Interested... but wondering what material they'll be using... Lexan? Acrylic? Plexi? 900 snails sounds a wee bit rich though, all they would have to do is vacuum your cover of to make a buck, then cast a mould from it... I talked with some plastic suppliers not long ago about getting replacement headlight lenses made up for Supras and Aristos with yellowed plastic... Correct me if I'm wrong though, my dude might not know what he's on about Quote

Still to be decided, I wouldnt mind a rib free one but i will see what he sez after he gets it. Interested... but wondering what material they'll be using... Lexan? Acrylic? Trev Posted July 3, 2007 Author Report Posted July 3, 2007 Try talking to beerhead. He had this idea a while ago and has access to a rather interesting plastic moulding device. Its been going on now for a very long time, even before this thread was posted: http://www.rollaclub.com/board/index.php?s...hl=clear+timing And i think i have found an outsider with a mould so i will call him tomorrow and see what he wants for hire or somethin. LittleRedSpirit Posted July 3, 2007 Report Posted July 3, 2007 I do realise that someone has thought of clear timing covers of course. What you may not have grasped is that Brads idea was to make his own. Quote
