drift pig Posted August 24, 2007 Report Posted August 24, 2007 (edited) hey I'm doing a 4age conversion into a ke55 and just like to here a lil advice from some people. ive been told its easier to put a ae71 x member in my car but ive also been told it doesnt fit. should i just use my stock x member and make up some new engine mounts, but i also heard if i do that the 4age tends to sit too high... please need some help. and also like to no what people did diff wise and also tailshaft wise. I'm thinking of going hilux diff but guys if youve done a similiar conversion let me no. it would help me out so much. cheers Edited August 24, 2007 by drift pig Quote
Jordan Posted August 24, 2007 Report Posted August 24, 2007 -If you've got an engine crane, it's always good to dummy up the motor overthe standard cross member. -If you don't have an engine crane, nows a great time to buy one. -Cutsom mounts are the way to go, it should't sit too high, is you mount the engin correctly. -If you've got the cash go hilux straight off the back, get it cut and shut to the correct length, if not the stoko diff should hold up ok to 4AG power levels -You need to do the same to your tail shaft with a T50 yoke and whatever diff you end up using. -Have a look at Darvos' thread. demuire Posted August 25, 2007 Report Posted August 25, 2007 If you are in Brisbane you can hire my engine hoist or my block and tackle. I've used the standard crossmember, just cut the engine mounts off and welded them back on further apart. Engine sits fine. I used the standard KE55 diff for ages before I got my T series diff out of an RA23. Tailshaft I used my standard one with a different yoke. Later had to be shortened to fit onto the T series diff. thomo Posted September 10, 2007 Report Posted September 10, 2007 ae71 x member doesnt go in easy, lots of cutting, drilling, oxy work, done it, gives great camber being wider than the 55 unit, but kills tyres, and i left it rack and pinion, bit of work in that to Quote
