zmit Posted October 8, 2006 Report Posted October 8, 2006 hey luke, howd u go with all that. sorry to have to change plans today... damn school is interfereing(?) with my plans again! oh yeah. and on that note. i still have a spare ae82 with a complete engine that I'm kinda parting out...
ancullen Posted October 8, 2006 Report Posted October 8, 2006 Please tell me it's got a carby-fed engine and five speed manual.
Ella Posted October 9, 2006 Author Report Posted October 9, 2006 Well actually the 5 speed i have dibs on :y: wouldnt mind the whole car actually timmy, will talk to you on msn about it...
Killswitch Posted October 9, 2006 Report Posted October 9, 2006 Off the shelf, was a good price - secondhand but never used so didn't turn it down. And its not like my corolla is gunna be a nuts track car anyway. Shitload better than anything else I could have got for the money. Although considering spending even more money and pissing the K motor off now but I dunno :P What's the going rate for a 3TGTE or even a 2TG/3T hybrid? :y:
ancullen Posted October 10, 2006 Report Posted October 10, 2006 I don't know, but if Redwarf doesn't beat you to it, I know where you can get a 2T-G head in Palmerston. Should be nice to see one of the KE70's lowered too. Which one are you going to put them in?
Ella Posted October 10, 2006 Author Report Posted October 10, 2006 my moneys on the skid/drift pig LOL
Killswitch Posted October 10, 2006 Report Posted October 10, 2006 :y: Luke wins the prize. Any idea on the condition of the 2TG head? and price? Can't really be f@$ked spending a lot of money on a corolla that won't have balls in the end, so still wondering what I'm going to do. A T Engine conversion seems a bit painful but might be worth it in the end, over the K anyway. Otherwise I'll just have ye olde phearsum 4K. Decisions! :P
Ella Posted October 10, 2006 Author Report Posted October 10, 2006 T series... hehe AE72 sounds nicer :y:
ancullen Posted October 10, 2006 Report Posted October 10, 2006 Unless you have easy access to a TE72 to swap over the front crossmember, you'd be better off getting an AE71 crossmember and putting a 4A-GE in - or just buy a cheapy AE71 with a rooted motor and do it up. Of course, there are far less TE70's getting around than there are AE71's.
Killswitch Posted October 11, 2006 Report Posted October 11, 2006 Unless you have easy access to a TE72 to swap over the front crossmember, you'd be better off getting an AE71 crossmember and putting a 4A-GE in - or just buy a cheapy AE71 with a rooted motor and do it up. Of course, there are far less TE70's getting around than there are AE71's. I might have access to a cheap TE72... unless luke the punk makes it an ae72 :y:
ancullen Posted October 11, 2006 Report Posted October 11, 2006 An AE72 would be cool. I hope it's a good shell. You don't see enough T-18's (TE72's) getting around town. It'd be even better if one of you built an AE72. Anyway, if Luke turns it into an AE72, he'll still need an AE71 front crossmember, so you'll have access to the TE72 front crossmember to build your TE70. That way both of you win and have very cool, very different cars. :y:
Killswitch Posted October 11, 2006 Report Posted October 11, 2006 Yeah, cept I want the diff/gearbox too :y: So do you know of a 2TG head lying around up here?
Ella Posted October 11, 2006 Author Report Posted October 11, 2006 anyone know if theres any ae71s about for wrecking?
ancullen Posted October 12, 2006 Report Posted October 12, 2006 Luke won't be able to use the TE72 gearbox with an A-series motor as the number of splines on the gearbox is wrong. He'll need the AE71 gearbox for that. I know they're both T50's, but there is a difference. As for the diff, I don't know why you'd bother swapping to a TE72 item. Is there really a need? I'd stick with the KE70 diff, as it's a 4.111 ratio isn't it? They're a Borg-Warner diff, so just get the centre from an auto model and you'll end up with 4.3:1 and better acclereation. :y: Luke - no, I don't know of any being wrecked at the moment - though there is an '84 Corolla that might be for sale - not sure if it's an AE71 or an AE82 though. All I know is it's a 1.6L sedan, so it could be either. I'll try and find out, but it may take some time as I don't know the bloke who owns it, so I'll try and get Alley to take a picture of it, as she knows the guy.
