Hey guys,

Somehow this weekend I managed to get the cylinder/pot stuck out on the front right when was replacing brake pads this weekend.

Now have stuffed the seal for the pot and can't get it back in. Tried using a GClamp but no luck.

Would it make a difference draining the brake fluid or do I need a new caliper? the rubber seal is complete deteriorated.

If so what sort of caliper/s can I use on it?

Thanks

Why don't you just take the calipers to a brake shop and get them to recondition them? I just had a pair of 4 pot calipers reconditioned for $130.

ok finally managed to free up the piston, after digging out bits of the gasket and finally getting that out. Put them all back in and bled the brakes so hopefully will be good enough to get the car down the road to get new springs in it. Will go to a parts shop and get new gaskets for the pair of them as soon as I can I guess. either that or will take them back off and into a brake specialist to get them reconditioned. Never owned a pre mid 80's car so was worried about stuffing the calipers incase it was going to take ages to get replacements if i damaged them - kinda need a car to drive around next week will my batty is having a custom sound install done

luckily the area i live in the performance/tyre/suspension/brake/etc..shops are all pretty much on the same road and only about 2km from my house...ive pulled out the seal cause its completely disintegrated and screwed, scrubbed down the calipers and cleaned them up - regreased the pot and put new pads in them and bled some new clean fluid through the system so they do have some pressure. will have a look around the parts stores tomorrow see if i can get seals that will suit them otherwise once its been in the performance shop on monday (its already booked in) i might take it across the road to the brake & tire shop to get the brakes done
