SLO-030 Posted March 6, 2009 Report Posted March 6, 2009 Hey mate, just in case youre unaware, you need a very high powered welder to weld alloy nicely, eg 3 phase. It also helps very much to have a wire feed in your hand piece, as the alloy wire prefers to be pulled rather than pushed. Cheers Id Tig weld it. Just cause I'm difficult. Quote

Cheers yeah i figured as much the welder i used is 3 phase and has hand peice wire feed but i've weighed the costs up and it'll be cheaper for me to cut the bits and pay someone to weld it all up! greenmac80 Posted March 8, 2009 Author Report Posted March 8, 2009 update! ryan helped out today. we were welding my inner guards and we had to get the car nice and high!! this is goood! easy to work on!! backyard spec! gonna go harder on the engine bay.. do more smoothing + panel beating etc.!! sooo all holes have been spot welded. random pic of finished vent shave and almost finished guard! I reckon I rang Anthony three days before, paid direct into his account and it was in the post in my post box within those three days. I have already fitted mine and if it wasn't all shiny and new you would think it was meant to be there all along. :) An absolute awesome guy to deal with, wish he sold more 20 valve specific parts tho :( Quote

greenmac80 Posted March 12, 2009 Author Report Posted March 12, 2009 small update. finally got my set of mounts and stuff made. kept making em and then selling em. also got a wicked distribution block for my loom. its got 2x 4 guage inputs and 8x 8 guage outputs! also got some velocity stacks on their way from japan. also started pulling motor down for freshen up and blueprinting. was shit scared as i've never worked on this type of motor but yeah was easy as. quite interesting learning curve for me. still need to get head off need the tool! i got a good quote for having the rods pistons and crank balanced. $200. so that'll be happening very soon...... money permitting! cheers, Luc Quote
