I have to mix kilos of the stuff at work. Whenever someone comes into the Lab and sees 3 kilos of sodium acetate on the scales they think I'm dealing Meth.

Some reason chemists did not want to sell me Sodium Acetate. I don't think they have it in the first place? Though it sucked.

You can buy the stuff in 5kg buckets through the mail (OK TNT express ...lol). Don't ask me how much it is but :)

So is this "Ice" safe to stick in your drink?

I don't think it is actually "ice" More of a chemical reaction to look like ice. It gets warm.

I've seen these heat packs that do the same kind of thing. They are just a gel pack with a little coin inside

and you snap the coin and the gel turns white and gets warm. once you have finished using it you then heat it up in hot water to turn the heat pack back into gel.
