_matty Posted July 27, 2008 Report Share Posted July 27, 2008 hey guys, I'm currently running an sr20 in my corolla its impossible to to handbrake into corners as the gear box sits quite a way back, and when in second its practically above the handbrake. any hints on what i can do to shorten the handbrake. i know its been done before. though i couldnt find any real help info on it. cheers Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Instead of doing that, just put the gear shifter into the gearbox the opposite way so it bends forwards instead of backwards. then it shouldnt sit above the handbrake. Posted July 28, 2008 Report Share Posted July 28, 2008 It is easy to shorten the handbrake, it is good to hear that your motor is mounted close to the firewall, as alot of people don't and it looks/handles bad. Cut the grip off. Pull the button out. hacksaw the end off. push the button back in, mine just seemed to go in and stay in and adjust the cable under the car (directly under the handbrake) As for the grip, i couldnt get it to go back on so i don't have one, it still looks and works fine.
